Jesus begins His final approach to Jerusalem after raising Lazarus, a miracle that causes many to believe but also intensifies the Pharisees' resolve to kill Him. Along the way He teaches about surrender and true discipleship through encounters like the rich young ruler—who refuses to give up his wealth—and blind Bartimaeus, who joyfully follows Jesus after being healed. Jesus prepares His disciples for His coming death and resurrection and uses the Parable of the Ten Minas to show that while He will soon depart, His followers must remain faithful and use what He entrusts to them until He returns.
This morning we continue our series in the Gospel of Luke, one of four eyewitness accounts of Jesus' words and works. In them we learn of his life, death, and resurrection to rescue his people from among the neighborhoods of Seattle and the nations of the world. Today, Jesus reveals he will return to right all wrongs. Until then, he calls his people to be faithful with the gospel-mina entrusted to them. Audio | Notes | Luke 19:11-27
Luke 19:11-27The Parable of the Ten Minas
As Jesus nears Jerusalem, the crowds expect the Kingdom of God to appear immediately. In response, Jesus tells the Parable of the Ten Minas. The parable reminds us that while we are saved by grace through faith, we are also created for good works that God prepared in advance for us to do. Our salvation is a gift, but our lives are meant to reflect faithful obedience to the King. The parable challenges us with an important question: Are we faithfully using what God has entrusted to us?
No one fully understood Jesus' identity or mission before the cross and the empty tomb. But what should disciples of Jesus expect after these history-shaping events? Would the kingdom of God be immediately established? Not exactly. But until King Jesus returns, we must be faithful stewards of whatever he has given to us. Read more...

Pastor Darrell preached on Luke 19:11-27 and the Parable of the 10 Minas. We are asked to consider:Do I miss the heart of the King? Do I see Him as a King who delights to bestow privileges and blessings, or do I view Him more as a "severe man"? Do I delight in rendering service to Him?

Come be encouraged to take what you've been entrusted with and use it for God's Kingdom, because the truth is, He gave it… and we're called to grow it.

After the parable about a king and the Ten Minas, Luke 19:28-44 records Jesus' entry into Jerusalem as the messianic King, and the way he entered reveals much about God and how we should respond to him today.

* Jesus is on His final trip from Galilee to Jerusalem. * Last week, we saw Him invite Himself to the house of Zacchaeus as He passed through the city of Jericho. After his conversation with Jesus, Zacchaeus bore fruits of repentance and Jesus declared that salvation had come to that house! * Today, we examine "The Parable of the Ten Minas" which Jesus shared while sitting at the house of Zacchaeus. * Through this Parable, Jesus is once again seeking to prepare His Disciples for the days ahead. * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on March 30, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

Therefore He said: "A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom and to return. So he called ten of his servants, delivered to them ten minas, and said to them, 'Do business till I come.'Luke 19:11-14The genius of Jesus is on full display in this parable, where He (1) corrects false conceptions about the coming of the Kingdom, (2) makes the case that God's economy is capitalist not socialist, and (3) warns of the fearful judgment that will fall upon the lazy and the fearful. And doesn't this all this sound like a much-needed message for the modern American church? We hope you enjoy our study on the “Mysteries of the Kingdom of God” in... “The Parable of the Ten Minas”

The Parable of the Ten Minas | Luke 19:11-27
Luke 19v11-27 This final parable of Jesus is meant to prepare us, challenge us, and reorient us to the truth that we often overlook—the King is coming, will we be found faithful? Taught by Stephen Collins
Jesus' journey to Jerusalem unfolds with powerful events and teachings. He encounters Zacchaeus, a wealthy tax collector, leading to Zacchaeus' repentance and salvation. Jesus tells the Parable of the Ten Minas, emphasizing faithful stewardship. His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem fulfills prophecy, met with royal acclaim. Jesus weeps over the city's spiritual blindness and drives out merchants from the temple, declaring it a house of prayer. The Rev. Matthew Tooman, pastor of the dual parish of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton, ND and First English Lutheran Church in Fairmount, ND, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Luke 18:35-19:48. The Gospel of Luke, filled with rich narratives and detailed accounts, offers an inspired and historical perspective on the life and teachings of Jesus. Emphasizing Jesus' concern for the poor, outcasts, and social justice, this Gospel narrates parables and miracles that underscore the theme of God's salvation for all people. Luke's account is unique in its inclusion of the birth of John the Baptist, the parable of the Good Samaritan, and the story of the Prodigal Son, culminating in a vivid portrayal of Jesus' death and resurrection, affirming the universal offer of redemption. This Gospel serves as an invitation to understand the depth of God's love and the breadth of His grace extended to humanity through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
Luke 19:11-27
The parable of the ten minas shows that what we do with our money reveals what we believe about God and His kingdom.
