Today Jesus takes into territory that we must be aware of; False Prophets coming in to the church with false teaching. As a Bible teacher I am always on high alert to this because false teachers come in to lead the flock astray and away. As we continue through Matthew Jesus gives us specifics to recognize in order to avoid the false teaching of the false prophets. Now I will add that I am going to take this and apply it to what we'll call “False partners.” Meaning, how to spot someone that you should not enter into relationship with. Beware of False Prophets

Building on the Rock: Living Christ's Words in a World of False Prophets Wise vs. Foolish Builders (Matthew 7:24-27, KJV): Jesus teaches, “Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock” (v. 24). Obeying Christ's words builds a firm foundation that withstands trials, while hearing without doing, like the foolish builder, leads to collapse (v. 26-27). Beatitudes and Heart Transformation: The Beatitudes (Matthew 5) require a heart cleansed by Christ's blood to live out spiritual truths like humility and peacemaking. Only a transformed heart can practice Jesus' teachings, aligning with the wise builder. Building for the Church: Referencing Ephesians, believers build their spiritual “house” not just for themselves but to strengthen the church, the body of Christ, for others' benefit. Beware of False Prophets (Matthew 7:15-20, KJV): Jesus warns, “Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves” (v. 15). Their corrupt teachings (evil fruit) deceive and exploit, driven by unregenerate hearts, unlike the good fruit of true believers. The Heart's Role (Luke 6:45, KJV): “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil” (Luke 6:45). False prophets' words reveal their corrupt hearts, while believers must guard theirs (Jeremiah 17:9). Call to Action for Believers: Christians must hear and practice Jesus' teachings to build a strong spiritual foundation. This requires willingness, honesty, and obedience to God's Word to resist false teachings and stand firm in faith. Perseverance in Trials: Like Job (Job 13:15, KJV), believers should trust God through storms, building on the rock of Christ's words to withstand Satan's attacks and false doctrines.

He speaks concerning their disguise, their fruit and their destiny. These false prophets come from among those who are traveling on the wide and broad way. There are different natural disasters and events taking place in our country and throughout the world.  As Christians we can find ourselves getting alarmed or frightened by the things we see or hear about, but Jesus tells us to not be troubled.  Christ warned us that these things would happen in the last days.  This message is a reminder as God's children to not be troubled.Matthew 24, 1 John 2:17-19

The plague of false prophets is nothing new. From ancient Israel to today's church, those claiming to speak for God while promoting their own ideas have caused immense spiritual damage. In this powerful examination of Ezekiel 13, we explore God's strong condemnation of false teachers and the striking parallels to modern religious deception.What should alarm every believer is how false teachers operate – not by announcing their falsehood but by claiming divine authority. "Thus says the Lord" rolls off their tongues while God has said nothing of the sort. Throughout Scripture, God commands us not to tolerate such deception but to actively oppose it. This stands in stark contrast to today's "feel-good" church culture where confronting false teaching is often considered divisive or unloving.Christian mysticism – the belief that we can receive direct, new messages from God – receives particular attention in our discussion. When someone says, "The Lord told me," they position themselves as either a true prophet or a false one. The metaphor in Ezekiel of a poorly built wall covered with attractive whitewash brilliantly illustrates how false teaching appears solid while being fundamentally unsound. We examine how many contemporary churches have built their ministries on what "seems right" rather than biblical foundations, incorporating entertainment and worldly elements that might attract crowds but cannot withstand divine judgment.The ultimate consequence for false teachers is sobering. Jesus' words, "I never knew you," echo Ezekiel's warning that false prophets will have no place among God's people. By their fruits you shall know them. This is the criterion given by Our Lord to discern false prophets and others who claim to carry out works or spread messages through divine guidance, yet the results are far from what Scripture and Tradition tell us are good and true. But we also must be on guard against those false prophets that lie within us who continually tempt us to pursue base and false ends under the guise that it would be pleasing to God to do so.

Fr. Mike focuses on Ezekiel's warnings about false prophets misleading the people of Israel, and challenges us to reflect whether we choose to listen to prophets who tell us what we need to hear, not just what we want to hear.
