Psalms 1:1-6 1 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, 2 but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. 3 That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. 4Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. 5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. 6 For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.

When we think of listening to someone or something, we often approach it in a fairly practical way. There is sound and there is someone there to listen to it. Easy enough right? Yes and no. At the most fundamental level we acknowledge how important it is to be able to hear, but what if the act of listening is something different? For example, when we are sitting with a friend and engaged in conversation, do we listen to their words or do we hear them? How we answer this will largely depend on how present, aware and receptive we are to not only the world outside, but to ourselves. Mindful listening starts with you. Of course, this doesn't mean to just sit and listen to the ongoing narrative we have going on in our mind at all times. Mindful listening is something different. Mindful listening involves using silence, space and the presence of our environment as away ground the ego and illuminate the spirit within. When we can practice listening to the subtle vibrations of our own awareness, and stay within that feeling, we eventually discover our own ability to observe the innocence and beauty in everything without the ego's typical habit of narrating our experience. When we can stop the chatter and unlock the heart, then we can begin listening to others in a way that is loving, receptive and most of all compassionate. Let's talk about the art of listening! In this episode we discuss, Jenn Gifts Eric A Main Coon Cat Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Room Jenn's trip to New Orleans Eric's Experience With Hearing Loss Learning How To Listen Through Silence Mindful Listening Hearing vs. Listening How To Listen When Alone How To Listen With Others Creating Boundaries Around Listening Listening's Connection To Love Full video episode on YouTube: Available 7/28 https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrvbyvD7Tou6IQO_lL_LewQ Divine Nobodies Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/divine.nobo... Van Badham joins Ben Davison for a very special weekend wrap. Our hosts got married yesterday! In a small family ceremony at the beach where Van's father's ashes were put into Botany Bay, Van and Ben have tied the knot. But the news waits for no one. Albo's decision to reinstate paid pandemic leave payments for worker's who have to isolate shows the power of working people raising their voice together and the willingness of a Labor government to listen to workers. The union movement (which you can join at australianunions.org.au/wow) worked hard to make sure the full social, economic and health impacts of forcing people into an economic choice around COVID were understood by the federal and state governments. As COVID continues it will be more important than ever that worker's voices are heard. On Insiders this morning Adam Bandt managed to reignite the mistakes of the climate wars by threatening to vote with the Dutton Liberals to block a legislated 43% reduction in emissions because it wasn't "ambitious" enough. Or if it didn't have a mechanism to stop ALL future coal and gas projects. Or possibly because he wants the campaign issue. Van and Ben breakdown why this is bad policy development and self indulgent politics. Plus the happy couple take a look at why Van's mum's local MP, Scott Morrison, is delivering a sermon on the other side of the country at the church of well known anti-equality activist Margaret Court.

Nina in her own words: My life has been an exploration of how to best serve what I most love, while cultivating myself to grow into who I believe and sense I was born to be. This has involved lots of exploration and a path that's quite self-made, and as I've explored how to shed self-limiting conditioning and cultivate leadership flourishing by cofacilitating retreats for women leaders who were diverse in every way, those women and experiences have grown me. I've partnered with a very strong-willed and brilliant man, which has required me to step up my game on every level. I've reached a place in my own life where I've created the life, leadership, love and creativity I always wanted, and I want the joys of that integrated life to be reachable for every woman and girl. First, Bill discusses the Roe v. Wade decision and the investigation into the leaker. He also explains why chief of staff Ron Klain, Susan Rice, and Jill Biden are the ones most likely pulling Joe Biden's strings. Next, Bill shares why he left Fox News and why mainstream media is being destroyed by independent media. He also explains why Bill Maher could never vote Republican, no matter how bad Biden gets. Bill also reveals the only person whom Donald Trump listens to and why he is certain that he will run in the 2024 election. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Love listens to others patiently, without needing to prove a point, perform, or produce. And in so doing, love can share the good news beautifully and in a timely way.
Central to loving another person is listening to them. When we genuinely listen to each other, we affirm our shared humanity. In an age of shouting over each other and the polarization that brings, Christians ought to lead the way in loving by listening. We listen to understand. And we listen to prepare ourselves to speak well if prompted. In so doing, we follow the example of Jesus.
We are reminded that during our difficult days, Jesus listens to our many needs.
One of the things we talk about a lot in our Bible Studies is about finding the course that God has given you to do, making sure to complete and fulfill it before your time on this earth is through. For many, finding what that course is can be elusive, for it is only found in the 'still small voice' of God speaking to you. But once found, there will invariably arise individuals who will do their best to dissuade you from completing what God has called you to do. Oftentimes, it's 'friendly fire' from within the camp. In 1 Kings, we see the shocking account of a young man of God, a prophet, who is called to do some specific things that the LORD has told him to accomplish. So why is that shocking? The shocking part comes when the young prophet meets up with the old prophet, and the old prophet lies to him to get him to not do what God has specifically called him to do. It ends worse than you might imagine, with the young prophet not only out of the ministry, but torn to pieces by a lion. Why did this happen? Because the young prophet listened to the old prophet instead of God, and in there we have one of the most powerful 'ministry messages' you will ever hear. Please join us for this NTEB House Church Sunday Service starting at 11 AM EST.

We've had multiple podcast episodes about teaching our kids to listen to us. This episode is about the importance of us as parents learning to effectively listen to our kids. It's also about the value of mentors for our teen kids and how to go about setting up a mentor, and it is about teaching them work ethic and lots more today in episode #147. Our featured guest is Amy Kusmaul, who is a mom of one daughter and four boys. Amy is our first of four guests this month who will have lots of examples about boys. That's right; we are are talking about Raising Sons for the month of June. The Father Factor will also come up quite a bit this month. No worries, if you don't have boys or if you are a single mom. All of these episodes for the month of June will be applicable to all moms even moms with girls only.Episode 5 Getting Kids to Listen the First TimeBook - Mother and Son: The Respect EffectFor the rest of June, we've got three more guests to go with our theme of Raising Boys. Next week - in our Fathers Day episode, episode 148, - we're talking Failure is A-OK! Helping our kids to not allow failure to define us, but rather redefining failure (and we talk about so many other great things with our Fathers Day guest!) The next week, in episode 149- our guest will inspire us with great ways to speak words of life and vision over our kids. Then in the final Monday of June our guest will be talking about the benefits of CHALLENGES for older kids and teens. Hey mama, would you like to help the PSM Ministry? There are two things that would be a big blessing to the ministry. 1. When you see one of my posts announcing a new podcast episode. if you could LIKE that post it would be seen by more mamas who may really need the encouragement. 2. And, if you want it to be seen by even more mamas, then also comment on those posts. Commenting also helps the ministry in an second way - it keeps me encouraged and it gives me feedback for creating future episodes. Your feedback is so helpful! So that would be just awesome if you would consider LIKING & COMMENTING on posts from the Practically Speaking MOM Podcast. If you want to subscribe to my Monday emails containing the podcast, announcements, and occasional blog posts, then head over to www.PracticallySpeakingMOM.com

Welcome to season 2 of the Determined to Dance podcast. I pray that you'll be uplifted, encouraged, and will move forward each and every day. Today's episode, Daily Prayer: God Listens, looks at the privilege of praying to a God who hears our every word. Show Notes: Prayerful Situations: Daily Prayer: God Listens One of my favorite books in the Bible is Jeremiah. Yes, I know that's odd because it's the story of a prophet called to deliver a message to a people who didn't want to hear it. Later, part of the Israelites would be taken captive to Babylon. The rest, along with Jeremiah, would remain under Babylonian control at home. The prophet continued to deliver a message that was widely ignored. What I enjoy so much about Jeremiah is the passion of the man. He seemed moody and melancholy (I can definitely relate) but still had a poetic and intriguing style of writing. Listen to Jeremiah 29:11-13: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” NKJV The people ignore God but He hasn't forgotten them. I'm sure at times Jeremiah wondered why God kept sending out the message. The king even took Jeremiah's handwritten words, cut them into small pieces, and tossed them in the fire. But God still wooed. And called. And extended His hand. He still wanted them to join Him in the dance of life. But most of all, He listened. I want to lift my chin and say, “I would have never acted that way if God listened to me.” The problem is, I already have. Many times. God says believe and I doubt. He says move and I hide. He says love and I don't. He loves me anyway. Let's take a closer look at these verses. What is God saying about prayer and listening to these stubborn people? God is thinking of their peace. God wants to give them a future and hope. God is listening. Wow. God has the Israelites on his mind and heart. And the Old Testament was given as an example for us. God is also thinking of our peace, and future, and gives hope while He listens. To us. What more could we ask for? Nothing. But these verses also point out what God wants. He wants them to call on Him. He wants them to pray to Him. He wants them to seek Him with their whole heart. And I believe He wants the same from you and me. Daily. No, we don't have to join a monastery or move to a mountaintop. But we can call to or acknowledge God every day. We can take a moment to thank, praise, intercede, and ask Him for what is on our hearts. And the seeking. Not a half-hearted thought amongst all the busyness. Instead, we need God like the air we breathe. When my dad was in his early thirties, he contracted a disease similar to Muscular Dystrophy. It left him paralyzed and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. He sought to disprove God during this difficult time in his life but found Him instead. Dad spent the rest of his life seeking God. Daily. I remember him studying the Word for up to eight hours a day in the recliner or laying on the couch. My dad had more faith in God than anyone I'd ever met. He sought and God listened. What's so cool is God listens to me even though I don't study for super long stretches of time. He meets me where I am and He'll meet you where you are. The more time we spend with Him, the more we want to. His beauty and glory draw us and slowly, like a flower opening to the sun, we become like Him. What a glorious thought. What a glorious God. “So, all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like Him as we are changed into his glorious image.” II Corinthians 3:18 NLT Let's pray: Father God, thank you for listening to us.
