This week on Here’s the Thing, Alec talks with Grammy-winning guitarist Peter Frampton. “Sound is very inspirational to me,” explains Frampton – and it always has been: he started playing guitar before he was 8 years old. Frampton talks about his musical roots in England, playing in bands like The Preachers and The Herd. At age 14 he was playing at a recording session produced by Bill Wyman, who he says is “sort of like my mentor, my older brother.” Eleven years later, Frampton was on stage in San Francisco, recording "Frampton Comes Alive," one of the biggest selling live albums of all times. Frampton also talks about the challenges of his extraordinary success: “I don’t think anybody can be ready for that kind of success,” explains Frampton. Peter Frampton recently completed a 35th anniversary tour of Frampton Comes Alive – a DVD will be available later this year. When the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation opened an investigation and Blanche was charged with the attempted murder, the arrest came as a shock to those who knew her. How was it possible that someone they all knew as “a sweet, Christian lady”—was an attempted murderer? And if she had been cunning enough to hide that side of herself from her community, what else had she been hiding? References Associated Press. 1989. "Arsenic victim feels 'sorrow' for his wife." In this episode of Discovering Truth with Dan Duval, Dan tackles one of the most contested questions in the body of Christ: Does the Bible endorse women as preachers, teachers, pastors, apostles and prophets? Dan cuts straight to the chase — he believes in ministry through men and women of God and embraces it fully at Bride Ministries. But the question is why, and for those wrestling with specific passages in Scripture, he walks through the biblical evidence step by step. This teaching examines the two primary passages used to restrict women in ministry — 1 Corinthians 14 and 1 Timothy 2 — unpacking the original Greek, the cultural context Paul was addressing, and what "keep silent" actually means. Dan then moves through both Testaments to show that every office of the fivefold ministry has been occupied by women, from Miriam and Deborah in the Old Testament to Priscilla, Dorcas, the woman at the well, Philip's daughters, and Junia in the New. If you've sat in a seat wondering why women are in ministry, or you've just gone along with it without a solid biblical foundation — this episode gives you that foundation.Learn more about Bride Ministries Institute here:https://www.bridemovement.com/instituteThen weENCOURAGE you to do 4 QUICK THINGS!!Sign up to be a podcast memberwww.danduval.comBe sure to check out and like our new Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/DiscoveringTruthNetworkSubscribe to the new podcast YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5nxloF2rt7-dXkjppGHdFAAND Subscribe to our Rumble Channel, where we will post all of our interviews that are TOO HOT for YouTube! [Original airdate: 2/19/26] Mary welcomes back Pastor Mike Abendroth to talk about forgiveness, such a timely topic in an age where selfishness and brutality seem to rule. What does the Bible teach us about forgiveness? What in the heart of God prepares us sinful humans to be forgiven, AND to forgive? The thing is, times not withstanding, the Word of God has the final say. And it is the characteristic mercy of God that even allows for it. We look at what mercy is, what grace is, what true forgiveness is – and what it isn’t. Yes people are brutal; they often don’t care about truth or mercy in their deepest inward parts. But God. Mike’s passion is preaching the Bible in a verse-by-verse fashion and training other men to do the same. Pastor Mike is also the author of the book entitled Jesus Christ: The Prince of Preachers. Mike has been the Senior Pastor at Bethlehem Bible Church (BBC) in West Boylston, MA since April 1997. Romans 10:13-17 (NKJV) Whoever CALLS on the name of the Lord shall be saved. 14, How then shall they CALL on Him in whom they have not BELIEVED? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not HEARD? And how shall they hear without a PREACHER? 15, And how shall they preach unless they are SENT… 17, So then FAITH comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Think about it, if our life is hidden in Him, if the fullness of God lives in us, if He took our infirmities, bore our sickness, since He's already established Himself as the Lord who heals, how are we supposed to respond? What's that supposed to look like?

Ecclesiastes 1, 12 // Jonathan NeefThis sermon explores the cyclical nature of life and the search for meaning as described in the book of Ecclesiastes. We look at the stark observations of the teacher in chapter 1 regarding the vanity of human toil and the pursuit of things "under the sun." One of the biggest debates in churches today is, “Should preachers get paid?” and if they should, then how much? Where do you draw the line? Is he to make more than the average income of the congregation? And why do churches hide the preacher's salary in the budget? Why do they not make it public? People see these megachurch preachers with their ginormous houses, private jets, owning their own jet, the fancy cars they drive and completely turned off from the gospel because of their extravagant lifestyle. Paul says he doesn't get paid for preaching the gospel, however, he was supported at times by some of the churches he started. They would send a monetary gift to him even though he never asked for it. So yes, preachers should get paid, but the question becomes “How much?”

On today's episode, we discuss how Jesus' repeated foretelling of his own death and resurrection functioned not as vague “predictions,” but as deliberate prophetic signs meant to validate his divine messianic identity and call people to repentance before his return. Jim walks through three major scholarly approaches to the “historical Jesus” (form criticism, continuum approaches, and social‑memory/orality) and explains how each treats the Gospel traditions, especially the resurrection sayings. He argues that instead of filtering out large portions of the Gospels as unhistorical, Christians can fruitfully use all three methods together—treating the Synoptics as expressions of a shared “ambient” memory and John as preserving more individual, eyewitness‑style details. The conversation also explores criteria like multiple attestation, double dissimilarity, and the role of Jewish and Greco‑Roman context, showing how they support the claim that Jesus consciously tied his resurrection, future return, and eschatological judgment together. They close by stressing the value of good historical work for ordinary believers—using examples like Pilate's political situation—to deepen exegesis, and then land on a lighter note with the now‑traditional PJ's Coffee plug and an invitation for listeners to send in questions and topic requests. Don't miss it!
The Preacher Behind the Constitution #RTTBROS #NIGHTLIGHT #USA250 #AMERICA250 #NATION250The Preacher Behind the Constitution“"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”— Jeremiah 17:9THE STORYJames Madison arrived at the Constitutional Convention with a plan.He had spent the winter of 1786 to 1787 reading every book he could find on the history of governments. He studied them as a diagnostician, trying to understand why human governments so reliably collapse into tyranny or anarchy. His conclusion was thoroughly biblical: the problem is human nature. People in power abuse it. Majorities oppress minorities. Madison's genius was in designing a system that took human sin seriously as a structural assumption. Checks and balances. Separation of powers. Federalism. Each element of the Constitution reflects a deep suspicion of concentrated human authority.Madison had learned this from a Presbyterian minister. John Witherspoon, the only clergyman to sign the Declaration of Independence, was president of the College of New Jersey when Madison was a student. The Father of the Constitution was, in a real sense, the student of a preacher.THE REFLECTIONJeremiah 17:9 is not a comfortable verse. The heart is deceitful above all things. Desperately wicked. This is the anthropology of Scripture, which takes the Fall seriously.Madison took it seriously. His Constitution was built for fallen people living in a fallen world, which is exactly why it has lasted longer than any comparable governing document in history. It does not assume the best about human nature. It builds in safeguards for the worst. The irony is beautiful: the most successful secular governing document in human history works precisely because it was designed around a profoundly biblical understanding of human nature. We live in an age that has recovered the Enlightenment's optimism about human nature, the belief that people given enough education will reliably choose good. History has not been kind to that view. Scripture has always been honest about it.THE PATRIOT'S PRAYERLord, You know the heart better than we know ourselves, and we are grateful that You do not leave us to our own devices. We thank You for the wisdom You gave to the framers of this Constitution, wisdom that looked honestly at human nature and built accordingly. Forgive us for the ways we have trusted in our own goodness rather than Your grace. In Jesus' name, Amen.PRAY IT FORWARD: Ask God today to show you an area of your own heart where you have been trusting in your own goodness rather than His grace, and receive His honest assessment with humility.

Today we're diving into the incredible journey of Johnny Coyne, an actor who traveled from the rugged mountains of Cyprus to the legendary sets of the Star Wars universe. Known for his "great face" and iconic turns as authoritarian villains in The Blacklist, Preacher, and Alcatraz, Johnny pulls back the curtain on the "panic" and imposter syndrome that still fuel his craft today. We explore how a RADA-trained talent who once packed shelves at Toys "R" Us transitioned from "unconsciously unskilled" to landing direct offers from Jon Favreau and sharing the screen with legends like Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Whether he's a mysterious warden or finding the vulnerable lost boy inside a master villain, Johnny's story is a raw, hilarious, and inspiring masterclass in resilience and the power of simply keeping the motor going.
