And with that, we enter into the final four movies of our tournament! Our good friend Howie joins us to discuss two spectacular movies, 2020's Palm Springs and 2000's Love and Basketball. That's right, one of these movies actually has sports in it! And we loved it! Join Ruth, Kristen and Howie to discuss the talent of J.K Simmons, the history of the WNBA, and just how sexual a section of lawn can be. 

Jackie, Host of Jackie Watches Stuff and Jackie Plays Stuff joins us this week as we complete this final round of the Elite Eight! Its But I'm A Cheerleader (1999) up against Forgetting Sarah Marshall in this latest match up. Ruth, Kristen and Jackie discuss the hilarious side characters in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the uniqueness of But I'm A Cheerleader's storyline, and why we wished the vampire musical was real.

We're deciding our final challenger in the final four in this week's episode! It's between Two Weeks Notice (2002) and Some Like it Hot (1959.) We know what you're thinking: Marilyn Monroe vs Sandra Bullock? Who can choose? Luckily our good friend and new guest Bob joins us today to lay down some very strong opinions…on the movies, and on Sandra's hairstyle choices. 

We've got two guests this week! Clara and Gretchen join Ruth and Kristen to discuss Palm Springs (2020) and The Holiday (2006) with this weeks' theme, endless holiday. The ladies discuss whether both movies have physical and friendship chemistry, if sex truly complicates everything, the importance of the side characters and the lovable neighbor in The Holiday and why Kristen is not allowed to throw surprise parties. 

It's the first week of the Elite Eight! In this latest match up between Love and Basketball (2000) vs. How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003), Tara joins Ruth and Kristen. They discuss if Quincy really wants to play basketball or just following in his father's footsteps, if Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have any discernible character development, if the women at the magazine are bad friends for writing an article inspired by Katherine Hahn's dating habits, and how much time the hosts really spent at IHOP in college. 

It's our favorite trope - enemies to lovers! Bridget Jones Diary (2001) is up against the cult classic But I'm A Cheerleader (1999). Ruth and Kristen discuss the satire, the self-acceptance journey that both female leads must go through, Bridget Jones' body issues, and if being a bad kisser is worse than being a bad person. (Hint: maybe!)

We're going on a vacation! This week, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) battles it out against the Netflix original Falling Inn Love (2019). Ruth and Kristen discuss what makes a good movie kiss, the epic Vampire musical, whether Sarah or Peter was the reason for their break up, and why Ruth just wants to watch Bring It On 5 again. 

This week we're going old school! The Philadelphia Story (1940) is up against Some Like It Hot (1959) in this weeks' screwball category. Ruth and Kristen discuss the iconic actors in this golden age of film, the progressive storylines in Some Like It Hot, if plays translate well onto the screen and if Kristen hates old movies.  

We're taking the competition to the workplace! This week it's 500 Days of Summer (2009) vs. Two Weeks Notice (2002). Ruth and Kristen discuss why Summer was an underdeveloped character, if Sandra Bullock and Hugh Grant are just charming people or actually do have chemistry, and the great soundtrack from 500 Days of Summer. 

We're about to travel through time! In this episode, Kate & Leopold (2001) battles against Palm Springs (2020). Ruth and Kristen discuss time loops and time travel, argue the plausibility of missing elevators in Kate & Leopold, whether the characters in Palm Springs were good people and Meg Ryan's awful haircut. 

 In this latest round, we are celebrating the holidays! Happiest Season (2020) goes up against The Holiday (2006) in this festive round. Ruth and Kristen discuss if the characters are redeemable in Happiest Season, who has a better kitchen in the Holiday, and why Iris's elderly neighbor is the best character between both of these movies. 

In this next round, the competition is heating up with Love and Basketball (2000) versus Bend It Like Beckham (2002). Ruth and Kristen discuss females in sports and the cultural implications brought up in both of these films, the messy love triangle between the 3 J's (Jess, Julia and Joe), the declaration of love in Love and Basketball and why on earth there were so many airplane motifs. 

Welcome back to Season 2! This week, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) and Drive Me Crazy (1999) are the first to battle it out. Ruth and Kristen discuss the abruptness of Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson actually falling in love, if viewers can move past Chase and Nicole getting together while their parents are secretly dating and which of our hosts' favorite songs was the B-52's 1989 hit Love Shack. 

Its our season one finale! Listen as the two movies who made it into the finals battle it out for the title of 'Best Romantic Comedy'. Ruth and Kristen vote one last time, consider fan reviews and reminisce about their favorite competitors during this season of The Rom Com Games.

In this last final four round, Ruth and Kristen invite special guest Luke to compare While You Were Sleeping (1995) with My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). The three discuss whether Lucy is justified in her deceitfulness, question the quality of both movies' narration, applaud Toula's emotional makeover, and ask who is more attractive: Bill Pullman, John Corbett, or potentially even Casper the Ghost? 

It's the Final Four! In this latest round, Ali joins Ruth and Kristen to discuss the contenders When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Crazy Rich Asians (2018). Ruth, Ali and Kristen discuss how Astrid in the best person in their family, if Rachel and Nick should really be together, and if our hosts can truly separate Billy Crystal from the iconic Mike Wazowski. 

In this final round of the Elite Eight, Ruth and Kristen are joined by the pod's first husband guest host, Chris, in the competition between Brandy's Cinderella (1997) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). Ruth and the Ch(K)ris's discuss the merits and flaws of both movies, how much we admire "frumpy" Brandy, if love can happen at first sight, and everyone's adoration for Aunt Voula. 

For this week's match up, special guest Lyndsy joins hosts Ruth and Kristen in the competition between While You Were Sleeping (1995) and You've Got Mail (1998). We discuss how sadness integrated into the storylines, if Joe Fox is a redeemable asshole, why "coma guy" was put on a pedestal and how Meg Ryan messed up big time by rejecting Tom Hanks' declaration of love before meeting ‘NY152.'

In this round, special guest Amanda joins Ruth and Kristen in the battle between Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and Clueless (1995). Ruth, Kristen and Amanda discuss whether Nick is actually a terrible boyfriend, strong matriarchs, the difference between selfish vs selfless motivations, and the ultimate question: should we lick frogs?

Welcome to the Elite Eight! In this round, Ruth and Kristen welcome their first guest for a true battle: When Harry Met Sally (1989) versus Girls Trip (2017). Ruth, Kristen and guest star Amy discuss the differences and similarities of platonic and romantic chemistry, how time impacts character development, and which host wants to wear a bedazzled jean jacket most of all. 

In this final round of the Sweet 16, My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002) goes up against Moonstruck (1987). Ruth and Kristen discuss the similarities of these loud Greek and Italian immigrant families, the poetic writing in Moonstruck, if Ian Miller really is the perfect guy and trying (very hard) to fall in love with Nicholas Cage. 

This episode of The RomCom Games features Brandy's Cinderella (1997) battling it out with The Prince and Me (2004). Ruth and Kristen discuss the iconic music and important representation in Cinderella, advocate for more montages, question the Prince's intelligence in Cinderella, and finally delve into how much Ruth hates Prince Edvard in The Prince and Me. 

Today's competition includes two rom-coms that start off with a classic "meet cute": While You Were Sleeping (1995) and Something's Gotta Give (2003). Ruth and Kristen discuss age differences in romance, Sandra Bullock's collection of cozy sweaters, and the power of loneliness. Our hosts also attempt to answer the question: how creepy is Jack Nicholson?

Our latest battle includes You've Got Mail (1998) and Pride & Prejudice (2005). Ruth and Kristen discuss the enemies to lovers trope, why character growth matters, and the biggest question of all -- are Brinkley the dog and Mr. Bingley the same? 

This week, the battle is between two of the funniest movies of the decade: Bridesmaids (2011) against Girls Trip (2017). Ruth and Kristen discuss the importance of female friendships, the new wave of raunchy female lead comedies, hilarious side characters and how much one of our hosts spent on a copy of Mission Impossible II. 

This week, we're examining the Friends to Lovers trope, with When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Netflix's Always Be My Maybe (2019). Ruth and Kristen celebrate high quality movie kisses, top-notch friendships, beautifully choreographed dialogue and whether friendships should even should turn into romance.  

This week, Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and My Best Friend's Wedding (1997) go head to head. Ruth and Kristen discuss the dazzling setting of Singapore, the charm of Julia Roberts, the differing portrayals of wealth and the...problematic quality of some movie friendships. 

This week, 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) and Clueless (1995) battle it out in this first round of the Sweet 16. Ruth and Kristen discuss the amazing cast, witty dialogue, matchmaking abilities and possibly questionable romance between Cher and her former step brother.
