There's an argument that has gone around for decades and it revolves around the idea of how much worship music do we need? Do we have enough? On the one hand, yes, we have more worship music than we'll ever be able to use in our Sunday morning services. And there's also the argument that worship music is the most lucrative music in Christian music. I don't think that can be debated. So while there are business and industry incentives to make worship music that will always exist at the intersection of Christianity and industry, what is the biblical perspective? What does the Bible teach us about singing, songwriting, and corporate worship? Trip Lee is a hip hop artist, a preacher, a rapper, an author…and he's released a worship album. I appreciate Trip and his commitment to God's Word. We talk about the power of worship music, why we need more cultural expressions of it, and how worship music should be viewed as a tool of discipleship. We also talk about culture and Christianity, racial tension, and how we should think about the division in the church right now. Trip is awesome and this conversation was a joy. This is David Santistevan and you can reach me anytime at david@beyondsundayworship.com. As always thank you for listening. Topics Covered: Trip’s story of coming to faith in Christ The influence of church music on Tripp’s music Musical and theological influences Why Tripp decided to make a worship album The intersection of culture and church Why it can be challenging to partner together across racial and cultural lines Resources Mentioned: Show Sponsor: Planning Center For Your Glory EP by Trip Lee & Brag Worship Brag Worship Show Sponsor: This episode is sponsored by Planning Center, an all-in-one church management software made to help churches help people. You can organize your ministries and keep everyone on your team communicating and aligned around what's going on. As a worship leader, good communication is key to building a strong worship team. You can cultivate relationships while ensuring everyone has what they need to successfully prep for your services. But why not take it up a notch using the chat feature? Built right into the Services mobile app—which, by the way, you should totally download if you haven't already—chat helps you coordinate all the service details with your team. Plus, you can have fun while doing it! No more juggling emails, group texts, and multiple apps to ensure your whole team is aligned. Chat will simplify your communication in one convenient place through the Services mobile app. And everyone can ask questions, request prayer, or join the banter in real-time with one another. The really cool part about chatting with your teams? Team members are dynamically added or removed from conversations as availability changes! So if your original bass player suddenly declines (why is it so hard to find a bass player, anyway?), your newly scheduled bass player is automatically added to the chat conversation. All of your chat conversations stay in sync. No more outdated group threads or irrelevant messages! So what are you waiting for? Download the Services app and start chatting! In this episode, Clay and Mike reminisce about their Bible College days with their former Dean of Men, Pastor Sean Houseman. What begins with shared memories quickly develops into an encouraging and challenging conversation about teaching and preaching sacred Scripture with wisdom, patience, and humility.Drawing on years of pastoral experience, Sean reflects on how the Bible actually works as a book, cautioning against flattening all passages into proverb-like statements. Together, they explore how Scripture often unfolds like a treasure map, building its points carefully and leading readers toward conclusions over time, rather than offering instant answers. The conversation also touches on the subtle temptations faced by Bible teachers, including the pressure to appear especially spiritual, and the importance of being who God has actually made us to be rather than performing for others. This episode was originally released in October 2018 and remains a helpful listen for anyone involved in teaching, preaching, or simply wanting to handle God's word more faithfully. For information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com Join our private Facebook group to continue the conversation: https://www.facebook.com/groups/ExpositorsCollective

Let's talk about something a lot of us ponder over—teleprompters. Do we love them, hate them, or just not want to mess with them at all? Well, as someone who's spent years in front of the camera, here's my take.Teleprompters can be both a friend and a foe. They're fantastic when you're super keen on hitting all your key points, like when you're talking about a new product or service. But, and it's a big but, they can make you sound robotic. And that's a no-go if your aim is to connect deeply with your audience. Trust me, people want the vibrant, human you—not a monotone reader. My advice? Ditch the prompter when you can. Jot down a few key bullet points and speak from the heart. Your authenticity will shine through, and that's what engages people. But if you find yourself needing that safety net of a teleprompter, practice until your reading voice sounds as lively as your speaking one.In this 5 minute episode you'll learn:Tips on how to effectively use a teleprompterThe importance of using bullet points to guide your video presentationsThe situations where using a teleprompter might be beneficialRecommendations for teleprompter appsKeep pushing your on-camera skills. Speaker: Rob BerrethScripture: Matthew 2:13-23Episode Overview:In Matthew 3:1–12, John the Baptist steps onto the stage of redemptive history with a clear and urgent message: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” This sermon explores what repentance truly is, why it is good news, and how it prepares us to receive the King Himself. Far from mere moral reform or momentary sorrow, biblical repentance is a whole-life reorientation—turning from sin and self-reliance and turning toward God's gracious reign. As John prepares the way for Jesus, we are invited to examine our hearts, reorder our loves, and respond to the nearness of God's kingdom with humility, faith, and hope.Key Highlights:• The meaning of the kingdom of heaven being “at hand” and why it demands a response• A biblical understanding of repentance as turning toward God, not just turning away from sin• The visible fruit of repentance in a transformed life• The danger of both open sin and hidden self-righteousness• Why John points beyond himself to Jesus as the One who baptizes with the Holy Spirit• How repentance ultimately leads not to despair, but to joy and true lifeCall to Action:As you listen, take time to honestly consider where your life may be out of step with the reality of God's reign. Ask the Lord to reveal misplaced trusts, disordered loves, or quiet self-righteousness. Turn afresh toward Jesus—not to earn His favor, but to receive His grace. Let repentance shape your daily life as an ongoing posture of humility, faith, and joyful obedience under the good rule of Christ.Redeemer Church211 Northshore Dr. Bellingham, WA 98226www.redeemernw.org

Many sellers believe enthusiasm and persuasion drive decisions, but this episode challenges that assumption. Brandon breaks down why buyers resist being convinced, how calm certainty outperforms hype, and why great sellers act more like guides than closers. You'll learn the difference between pitching and mirroring, how neutral language removes pressure, and why emotional safety is the real driver of buying decisions. This episode reframes selling as diagnosis rather than persuasion and gives you a new lens on why the best sellers often don't sound like sellers at all.
Prophetic rebukes in times past were seemingly much more bold and direct than what happens today. Why the change, and what might it mean?
In this episode, Larry and Cody do something rare: they run a fully unscripted mock discovery call so coaches can hear what a real consult sounds like—not a perfect script, not a role-play where the client rolls over, but an authentic conversation with resistance, uncertainty, and nuance. Larry plays a skeptical, achy 55-year-old client, while Cody navigates the conversation exactly as he would in real life. As the call unfolds, Cody demonstrates how to ask better questions, slow the conversation down, and help a client feel understood without prematurely pitching solutions. Coaches will hear how to uncover goals like confidence, longevity, and “not paying the price tomorrow,” while avoiding common traps like over-explaining or defending value too early. The episode closes with a breakdown of why the call worked: how Cody determined fit, framed the next step, and created clarity without pressure. If you struggle with discovery calls, handling objections, or moving conversations forward naturally, this episode is a masterclass in consultative selling done right.
Most people think communication is about what you say. It's not. It's about what happens in the listener's brain before you finish your sentence. This episode breaks down the neuroscience of communication and why charisma is overrated. Real influence comes from how the brain processes sound, novelty, and behavior in real time. You'll learn the communication frameworks used by top performers, executives, and elite negotiators including vocal entrainment, micro-behavior mirroring, attention psychology, dopamine triggers, storytelling science, and credibility language patterns. We cover how to speak in short, high-impact bursts, use questions to increase engagement, and control silence in high-stakes conversations. These are practical tools pulled from boardrooms, negotiations, and live debates. If you want to communicate with confidence, influence faster, and be taken seriously in business, leadership, sales, and negotiations, this episode will change how you speak. Communication isn't a soft skill. It's applied neuroscience. Protect what you own. Next makes it fast, simple, and painless. In this annual Christmas episode of That Don't Sound Right, hosts Peter and Cecil take a curious and thoughtful look at the Christmas story—and the parts that, at first glance, just don't sound right. From centuries-old prophecies foretelling Jesus' birth to the surprising fulfillment of promises through a humble baby, the hosts explore key Old Testament references including the Davidic lineage, Isaiah's prophecy of a virgin birth and “Emmanuel,” the powerful titles of Isaiah 9, and the foreshadowing found in Psalm 69. They also discuss the statistical improbability of Jesus fulfilling 48 messianic prophecies, as highlighted in Lee Strobel's work. The conversation kicks off with a lighthearted Wheel Horse anecdote before settling into the show's signature blend of humor, curiosity, and reflection—shared openly from a believer's perspective. As always, this special Christmas episode is short, conversational, and designed to invite listeners into the discussion, whether they're longtime believers, skeptics, or simply curious about the story behind the season. Have you ever heard a fox scream at night and thought it was a human? And why, when goats bleat, do they sometimes sound like human babies? Animals can sometimes make similar noises but not because they're feeling the same things. It often has more to do with how similar the sound-making structures in our bodies are! In this bonus episode, we learn about how animals make sounds and how their vocal folds work with Dougie Pickles, host of the sleepy adventure podcast Cozy Critters. Download Transcript
