Forces of Nature was the 44th highest-grossing movie of 1999, opening at #1 at the box office on March 19th and taking in 17 million dollars in its first week, going on to make 94 million worldwide on a budget of (somehow) 75 million dollars. Starring Sandra Bullock and Ben Affleck at a time when both actors' stars were at a high point and one of just a few features directed by accomplished television director Bronwen Hughes, Forces of Nature was the follow-up to her 1996 adaptation of Harriet the Spy, and written by Family Ties writing alum Marc Lawrence, who also wrote 1999's The Out-of-Towners and would go on to reteam with star Sandra Bullock for Miss Congeniality 1 and 2 as well as Two Weeks Notice with Hugh Grant. Forces of Nature has a weird and very 1999 visual aesthetic that flies in the face of rom-com tradition, and it dares to at least try something unique and different instead of adhering to genre conventions. It's a stranger, surprising movie. But is it a good one? You can find Julia and her work on her website, juliasirmons.com

"The idea that my course idea has been done before or that it's being done by some really big names with big audiences, so there's no room for me, that's a lack mentality. As an entrepreneur you cannot have a lack mentality. You have to believe there's enough room for everyone including you. No one can teach quite like you, no one has your experiences, your style of teaching, your stories. No one's gonna be like that. You have to carve out your own space, and attract your audience. And the beautiful thing is you don't millions of people to follow you in order to be successful online. It's a lack mentality that you want to stay away from and start believing there's enough room for me." Amy Porterfield is a successful woman entrepreneur and New York Times best selling author of Two Weeks Notice. She is renowned for her expertise in creating and selling profitable online courses. With a background that includes working alongside marketing titan Tony Robbins, Porterfield has carved out a niche as an educator and influencer in the digital marketing space. I am over-the-moon excited to have Amy Porterfield on the podcast today! Many of you know Amy as an amazing business coach, but she's here to talk about her new book, “Two Weeks Notice.”We start by digging into Amy's inspiration for taking the leap into entrepreneurship. She shares that she was REALLY GOOD at climbing the corporate ladder, but, after a fateful meeting in a room full of entrepreneurs, she decided she wanted more freedom – just like them!It took her one year from that meeting to take the leap from her corporate job to entrepreneurship and, during that year, she developed the “sweet spot” strategy. It includes asking yourself four questions – (1) What am I good at that I can teach others? (2) Who do I want to work with? (3) Where are these people spending their money? (4) What lights you up and makes you happy? This is all great and fine, BUT what about the money anxiety that comes along with quitting your corporate job? Amy explains that (luckily) online businesses have low overhead! However, you also need to find clarity on how much income you really need to survive and be willing to sacrifice for the first year of business. It might be a bumpy ride, but it will be worth it in the end!Something Amy learned early in business – surround yourself with other people doing more than you! She realized that everyone has failures, and YOU are not your failures. They are simply experiences along the way to learn from! … And if you're working a 9-5 with a dream of working for yourself one day, start building the runway NOW! Not sure how? Don't worry! #598: 4 Ways To Avoid Burnout

Online Marketing Made Easy with Amy Porterfield

Say bye-bye to business burnout with these 4 strategies Burnout. It's the dreaded B word that most entrepreneurs experience at one point in their business journey or another, and it's not a fun place to be.  Not only do you feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders, but the passion you once had for your business -- and that drive to move forward -- seems to totally dissipate because you're so overwhelmed. I don't know about you, but the reason that I left the corporate world in the first place was because I wanted to love what I do, not to be totally exhausted by it. I want to wake up in the morning feeling energized and excited, not fearful and frustrated. Can you relate? If so, pay close attention to this episode -- because over the years, I've discovered the ‘secret sauce' to having a successful business, sans the burnout.  I only wish I would have discovered what these four things are sooner! So if you're on the brink of a business burnout, and want to banish it from your business for good, then grab a beverage of your choice, pop in your earpods, and get ready to take some notes. Here's a glance at this episode... [04:57] Burnout is common in the entrepreneurial world. I've experienced it firsthand, and I've heard stories from my students. [06:49] I got burned out working one-on-one with clients about two years into my business. I decided to fire all of my paying clients and do something different. [08:07] My most recent burnout was after I launched Two Weeks Notice. But this time I had the tools and knew what I needed to do to protect myself. [09:37] Creating a digital course has been a game-changer for my mental health. It's helped many of my students avoid burnout too. [11:11] Digital courses could be the best asset in your business to protect you. It provides consistency and lessens the amount of hustle you have to do.  [12:13] Total burnout comes from constantly having to start from scratch and create something new.  [14:16] A digital course can increase revenue. You can also put a course on Evergreen, meaning that it's automated and for sale every day. [15:52] Time blocking can help avoid burnout. It helps you get really clear on the action items you'll be doing during the day. It also helps avoid context switching.   [19:14] A four-day workweek can also help you avoid burnout. I've invited my team to have a four-day workweek and it's transformed our mental health.  [21:46] 1. Create a digital course. 2. Eventually, put a course on evergreen. 3. Time blocking. 4. Explore incorporating a four-day workweek.  [22:58] What are you doing to protect yourself from burnout? Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts "I love Amy and Online Marketing Made Easy."

How to slow down in your business (& feel totally ok with it) When I launched Two Weeks Notice, I took advantage of every opportunity that I could to promote the book, and get it into the hands of women who need it.  That meant doing over 100 podcast interviews, flying all over the country for media promotions, and sacrificing a lot of things in my personal life so I could do more in my business. I was very much in a season of yes. Everything I committed to, I showed up for in full force -- and I'll tell ya, it was well worth it. Two Weeks Notice made the NYT bestseller list and even topped the list in the Wall Street Journal, too.  But I'll be honest with you. Now that my book launch is over with, I've got to slow down. I need to move into the next season -- a season of rest -- and prioritize myself, my family and friends, and my health.  Because guess what? As important as my business is, everything outside of it is important, too.  This doesn't come naturally, sweet friend, and it's going to take an intentional effort for me to pull off. But I know it's what I need to do, and I am 100% committed to doing it.  In this episode, I share what it's like to go from a level 100 (where you're doing all of the things, all of the time), to taking an intentional pause -- and why that's important to do from time to time Enjoy!  Rate, Review, & Follow on Apple Podcasts "I love Amy and Online Marketing Made Easy."
