It's Teeth Time!! Hey friends! My name is Stephen Ray, and I am a second-year dental student and YouTuber. YouTube has opened many doors for me, but I have found that I need another creative outlet. As a dental student and a young person, I have plenty of thoughts, ideas, concerns, and words of advice. This will be my place to share them. On this podcast, you will hear me describe the ins and outs of a life in dental school with topics like my social life, content creation, fitness, hobbies, relationships, and much more. Dr. Calvin Harris is a pediatric dentist in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Harris completed dental school and pediatric dental residency at the University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. During his residency, he received two additional years of specialized, hands-on training in preparation for meeting the unique needs of infants, children, and teens. This extensive training included working with children with special needs, sedation dentistry, and hospital- based dentistry at LeBonheur Children's Hospital and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On Saturday November 20th, 2021, Stephen ran in the first half marathon of his life. Today's episode of Teeth Time is the full story. Stephen begins by describing his long-time relationship with running which was one that was not conducive to electively running in a half marathon. During the pandemic, however, Stephen's opinions on running changed, and, almost two years later, he reached the peak of his running career by completing the Nashville half marathon. Stephen details the ins and outs of half marathon prep, race morning, the race itself, and the aftermath of the massive run. He also looks ahead to the future of his physical fitness endeavors and toys with the idea of running a full marathon in the future. While this episode of Teeth Time does not cover dental school or dentistry directly, it details the passion of someone who uses running as an escape from these things.
