Woodburn Baptist Church - Sermons

God is not a distant deity demanding penance, but a God who is present in our pain.

Sin survived the storm. The cross will do what the flood could not-destroy sin without destroying sinners.

In Christ, the deluge of judgement falls on one man so the rest of us can stand on dry ground.

Even in the land of the giants, faith finds a foothold.

Growth happens daily. Not instantly. Spiritual disciplines are habits of freedom.

The Spirit rewires thinking, which transforms the way we behave in our bodies.

What you treasure determines who you trust. Financial stewardship is spiritual alignment.

The cycle of trying harder and falling back-true transformation starts at surrender.

The triune God moves together in love and light to redeem us.

Jesus didn't just observe humanity-he became one of us, fully.

God didn't just come near-he came with purpose. The incarnation is mission.

Jesus is eternal, not created. He is the word before all worlds.

The person who has gotten accustomed to blessings can never be satisfied.

You are a sinner who still sins. Your life is a testimony to God's mercy.

At all times, you must stay in sync with what God is doing in your life.

Disciples don't stop with themselves. The goal of following Jesus is helping others do the same.

Every believer has a gift. The church flourishes when you offer what God has placed in you.

Growth happens when we walk with others in truth, grace, and accountability.

Belonging to Christ means belonging to his people. Church isn't a service-it's a family.

The first call is to believe the gospel, repent, and be baptized into the life of Christ.

The Spirit is not a force to be used-He is a person to be known, honored, and obeyed.

The Spirit's power isn't just for signs and wonders. It's for obedience, endurance, and mission.

Parents must trust God with what only he can do, while taking their part seriously.

Parenting adult children isn't about control-it's about influence. This Sunday, what kids need from us when they no longer seem to want anything from us.

Proverbs says that kids are born with hearts full of foolishness. Cheerios up the nose, Tide Pods in mouth-you name it. They don't need a buddy-they need parents who love enough to discipline. That's where the gospel shows up.

From birth to graduation, you only get 936 Sundays with your child. The days feel long, but the years are short. Starting this Sunday, we'll talk about raising kids, following Jesus, and redeeming the time we've been given,

Darkness can feel overwhelming-until one small light appears. Jesus says you are that light. This Sunday, how to shine in a world that desperately needs it.

Jesus says, "Love your enemies." Sounds nice, until you actually have one. This Sunday, how to love when you'd rather fight back, shut down, or walk away-and why Jesus' love shines brightest when relationships are hardest.

"Hakuna matata" may work on a cartoon savanna. But in real life? You've got worries-and no talking warthog to sing them away. Jesus never promises no worries. But he does say don't worry. So how do you live like that?

Ever feel like life's a maze-twists, dead ends, no clear way forward? This Sunday wraps up "God in the Gray" with a message for anyone stuck in uncertainty. You're not alone. There's wisdom for those who ask- and a way forward you wouldn't find on your own.

I've seen friendships strained, families split, even marriages end-not over the gospel, but over who someone voted for. Something's broken. But what if the cross can heal what political division destroys?

What do you do when someone you love deeply sees the world very differently-especially when it comes to sexuality and faith? This Sunday, we are leaning into one of the hardest questions Christians face today: How can I stay true to what I believe and still love my friend well? It's not about winning arguments. It's about following Jesus with both conviction and compassion.

Silence can feel terrifying-especially when it feels like God is the one who's gone quiet. But what if the silence isn't absence? What if it's an invitation? This Sunday, we are talking about "When Gods Seems Silent."

This Sunday we're talking about how the strongest man in the Bible wasted his strength and lost his way. If you've ever felt stuck, tired, or unsure of what your strength is for, the one's for you.

Revelation gives us a glimpse of eternity-God's face shining upon his people from every tribe and tongue gathered together. But what if we're not just waiting for heaven? What is we're called to live in its reality now.

Ever heard of Tabitha? Probably not. She's an ordinary woman who quietly changed her world. You may think you're unnoticed, but God never misses ordinary faithfulness.

People call Thomas "the doubter," but Jesus saw something more. This Sunday, we'll talk about what it means to be found by Jesus, known by his scars, and called to believe with your whole life. Because you're not what people call you. You're who Jesus knows you to be.

Everyone loves Jesus on Sunday, when the crowd is cheering. But what happens on Friday, when the parade ends, the road narrows, and the cross comes into view?

Ever start something with big energy but never finish? Jesus says following him can't be another thing you fizzle out on. Count the cost- you'll have to give everything. Still he gives more.

Ever felt like something's holding you back-even when you have it all? This Sunday, let's talk about the one thing keeping you from the life you're meant to live. It might cost you everything-but it's worth it.

Most of us avoid discomfort at all costs. But what if your greatest life was just beyond your greatest surrender? Letting go isn't loss; it's life. Come and explore what it really means to follow Jesus.

How long are you going to carry it? That grudge. That hurt. That thing they did that still plays in your mind. Joseph had every reason to stay bitter. But he didn't. What if you could do the same?

Stuck at a red light in life? Joseph spent two ears in prision, waiting for God to move. Turns out, God was moving all along. When it feels like nothing is happening, something always is.
