Some people say they don't make comedies anymore, and to those people I would say: "Well, then what is LITTLE BROTHER on Netflix? Starring John Cena and Eric Andre? Co-written by a guy that wrote four episodes of Stargate SG-1? And I don't mean that disparagingly?" Listen to the Film School Janitors to find out more!

Well... it finally happened. After 137 episodes, Jacob disappeared. No, he didn't die.No, he didn't get abducted by aliens. And despite what Brad claimed, he didn't punch Brad in the face over Joker 2... although listeners aren't ruling it out. Enter Mark.Brad claims he searched the globe for a new co-host. We assume that means he Googled "guy willing to watch terrible movies for free" and somehow Mark answered.Within the first ten minutes, Mark had already:Been insulted by Jacob in the live chat.Learned Brad's nickname is "Baby Hands."Been introduced to MTD, who apparently trained Jason Voorhees... according to absolutely no verified historical records. Then they actually tried talking about Little Brother......for about six minutes. After that the episode somehow became:A Tom Hanks career retrospective.A Star Wars debate.A discussion about hologram concerts.Brad's traumatic Cast Away date where his date narrated the entire movie to the theater.Mark Wahlberg somehow getting cast in a movie he wasn't even in.And a serious investigation into whether John Cena accepted the role without reading the script.Meanwhile, the actual movie sat quietly in the corner wondering if anyone remembered it existed. The best part?Mark fit in immediately. By the end of the episode he was already roasting the movie, questioning Netflix's budget, and politely wondering how they had spent nearly 35 minutes talking about literally everything except Little Brother. That's when you know he's officially part of Movie Torture.

What's New to Netflix is alive and well, and we go full speed ahead into some rough terrain with the July 2026 movies and shows that Netflix has got coming out. Also, Russell Crowe portrays a boxer that falls on hard times during the Great Depression but has a comeback that takes America by storm in Cinderella Man from 2005. Then it's the remake of House on Haunted Hill from 1999, which may or may not be too twizzy for audiences that didn't grow up shoplifting nu-metal CDs from Best Buy. And we also talk about John Cena and Eric André's new Netflix movie, Little Brother, which somehow saved the formulaic buddy comedy for the foreseeable future. All of this plus Mr. Rogers, Mothra, Tom Brady, a backwards movie not being backwards, Emeril, two different Ticks, a house on the prairie that some would call little, The Hunger Games, and Will Ferrell as "The Hawk" in The Hawk. got a suggestion for the show?: whatsnewtonetflix@gmail.com

Little Brother is currently trending in Netflix's Top 10 and pairs John Cena with Eric André in an unlikely comedy duo. The film mixes outrageous physical comedy with heartfelt family drama, following a successful real estate agent whose carefully planned life is turned upside down by the unexpected arrival of someone from his past. While the cast brings plenty of energy and the movie aims for an emotional message about family and perspective, the biggest question is whether its blend of raunchy humor and sincere storytelling actually works.
In Episode 460, Madden and Kolsky get in a little earthquake talk before moving on to: Boots Riley’s new film I Love Boosters (3:40), the particular madcap style that he works in, and whether it has diminishing returns… The somewhat disappointing Eric Andre/John Cena Netflix comedy Little Brother (18:10) and how it simply doesn’t reach the necessary level of laughs-per-minute… The rather disappointing Amazon’s Legally Blonde prequel series Elle (22:25) and whether our hosts are just too old for this shit… The wildly disappointing HBO series Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness (29:10) and whether it might play better in an elementary school classroom… The extremely exciting (and largely not disappointing) WORLD CUP (33:25), with our hosts’ thoughts on the tournament overall and the future of American soccer specifically… Homework for two weeks from now (1:5:5), including: the Ryan Gosling movie Project Hail Mary (available on Amazon), the Soderbergh-directed, Olyphant-starring series Full Circle, the Apple TV+ crime thriller Lucky, and of course some more World Cup action…

Send us Fan MailA comedy can survive bad taste, broad jokes, even a ridiculous set piece, but it can't survive refusing to commit. We kick things off with a very real spiral about money and sustainability, then take a hard left into a bigger fear that's creeping into entertainment: AI likeness, synthetic commercials, and what happens when consent becomes optional. That thread sets up the core question we keep coming back to: in a world flooded with content, why does so much of it feel weightless? Then we get into our main event: Netflix's Little Brother with John Cena and Eric Andre. The cast is game, the premise has solid bones, and the movie still dodges the one thing it needs most, clear stakes. We talk through the scenes that almost work, the moments that collapse under “reset button” writing, and why a redemption arc can't land if the story won't let anyone be truly wrong. Along the way we revisit a rule we'll scream forever: a reference is not a joke.To close, we unpack the confusion around Louis C.K.'s new Netflix special and what his return says about comedy culture, platforms, and the ways people justify watching. If you're thinking about comedy writing, streaming movies, AI in filmmaking, and the ethics of fandom, this one gives you plenty to argue about. Subscribe, share this with a friend who loves movie debates, and leave us a review with the worst comedy trope you're sick of seeing.Written Lovingly by AIBe our friend!Dan: @shakybaconTony: @tonydczechAnd follow the podcast on IG: @hatewatchingDAT

Rudd (Cena) is reunited with his once after school Big Brother program little brother Marcus (André) after 30 plus years. Tune into find out what Andrew and Ted thought about this Rudd and Marcus finding common ground in their personal relationship while Rudd tries to find himself and what is actually comedy.

Eric Andre makes the best kind of crazy... the kind that makes fans out of Chris Rock and President Barack Obama. In a conversation as wild as his comedy, Eric tells Dan how his immigrant father wanted him to become a lawyer, the moment he walked out of the LSAT to pursue his own life, and how anxiety fuels his public mayhem to the point of nearly getting himself killed filming a prank involving a Chinese finger trap (spoiler: it wasn't on his finger). Who hasn't put their head through a glass case doing a Chris Farley impression, right? “Little Brother” starring Eric Andre & John Cena premieres only on Netflix June 26th.
