It's time for another three parter here at Backloggers Anonymous! Angelo is joined by Jaime and Julian to talk about a pretty big game that two thirds of the cast have never played: Final Fantasy X. Now, after a three hour FF episode of Nerds Without Pants you might think that Julian doesn't have much more to say about fantasies that are final, but you would be wrong. Seriously, we can't get this guy to shut up! If you haven't played Final Fantasy X before, this is the episode that will (hopefully) get you playing along with us. Julian puts some perspective on where the franchise was at the time, and how fan reaction to this particular game has changed over the years. We talk about the battle system, some eerie similarities to Final Fantasy XIII, and digress all over the place. We hope you enjoy the show, and if you're playing along, we'll be talking about the start of the game all the way up to the Macalania Cloister of Trials. Join us, won't you? And if you recently played through, please comment, but try to keep spoilers to a minimum, at least until we get to the next episode.

Hey there, Julian here. Yeah, I'm not your usual Backloggers Anonymous host, but we're tackling a game that I have a really huge soft spot for: Asura's Wrath. We are joined by Nerds Without Pants fan favorite Erika Szabo who takes her place as our resident anime expert. This is important, because Asura's Wrath is a huge, mushy love letter to Japanese animation, which you can read all about in my review. We spend the first part of the show talking about our personal history with anime, as well as some of our all-time favorite shows. After that, we delve into the topic of the dreaded Quick Time Event (or QTE if you're funky). This is also a big deal, as Asura's Wrath is almost entirely QTE based. Opinions vary among the three of us, but I do a pretty good job of getting Angelo and Erika excited for this play through. Finally, we wrap up with some talk on DLC (this game had a "huge" controversy concerning its DLC), and some favorite anime recommendations. This game is quite a trip, and I hope you'll join us. If you do, play through the first 9 episodes. That should take you about 2-3 hours, and then get ready for part 2 of the show, where we talk about the insanity thus far!

So, funny story, I think Backloggers Anonymous is cursed when it comes to handling games designed by Irrational. The reason? Well, this is actually our second first recording for System Shock 2. The first one somehow disappeared from my computer after we recorded it, and the backup is gone too. I half expected SHODAN to email me something like I'VE DELETED YOUR PODCAST, INSECT, but that didn't happen, so I'm gonna chalk it up to the curse. What curse you may ask? Well here's a little trivia for you. Originally, I wasn't the guy in charge of Backloggers. This was actually JD's idea, and he had the helm for our first series of podcasts. The topic? BioShock. Guess what, those are gone too. Weird stuff. Anyway, curse or no curse, we're soldiering on. This time I'm joined by Julian and our site director, Nick. We talk about the game's historical relevance, how it's aged, and why you should never trust someone with a face like this guy. Seriously, what is it with future people? If you create a super powerful AI, give it a name like Xerxes, and a face like that, you're just asking for trouble. Anyway, we'll do our best to defy the curse and bring you another podcast in a few weeks where we'll discuss everything there is to discuss about this game. If you're playing along with us, or just have some questions you'd like us to address, sound off below unless it's got spoilers. If it does, send me an email at Angelo@pixlbit.com. See you next time.

Hello again! Julian here, joined as always by Patrick and Rob for another episode of Nerds Without Pants. No topic this time...we decided to just wing it with some random discussion. Yes, a hodge podge of talking points brought together to form a pleasant bouquet. Some potpourri, if you will. We can all enjoy a little P O T. And if you got that obscure Laugh In joke, congratulations! I love you. I didn't think we had a lot of games to talk about, but actually we had a frakton of games to talk about. Patrick is still preaching the gospel of PS Plus, with beta access to Dust 514 and God of War: Ascension some good reasons to join. Rob's knee-deep in his second Fallout: New Vegas run through, and he confesses his undying love for Felicia Day at last. Okay, not really, but his opinion has changed a little. I try to convince him for the billionth time to finish Alan Wake, and I'm met with his love for Max Payne 3's multiplayer. I give Final Fantasy ATB a thumbs up while taking Dead Space 3 and EA to task. Patrick's not enamored with Darksiders (being played right now on Backloggers Anonymous!), but he loved The Unfinished Swan so much that he wrote a poem about it. I reveal my own quest to eliminate my backlog, lottery style. Then we go to crazy town. Rob has turned me on to Tommy Wiseau, who brings his own brand of insanity to this podcast. We all rage about the crappy non-ending to The Devil Inside before Rob and Patrick nearly bring the fun to a screeching halt. Fear not, listeners! We bring things back to life with copious amounts of comic book talk, as well as Amazing Spider-Man 2 casting news, and I talk about some awesome documentaries I watched recently, with 6 Days to Air: The Making of South Park at the top of the list. There are plenty more shenanigans in this episode, including Rob's proclivity for sitting in a rocking chair wearing a Batman snuggie...and nothing else. Come for the gaming talk. Stay for the crazy. Featured Music Abandoned Pools- Clone High theme song Total Recallin' - Spoof of Free Fallin' by Tom Petty Normand Cobeil- Theme of Ethan Mars (Heavy Rain) Abandoned Pools- The Remedy YOU'RE TEARING ME APART, LISA!

Angst! Rage! Epic House Cleaning! It's all on this week's Backloggers Anonymous! THQ is in the news yet again, and this time it seems like it's over for those guys. Jesse give us the lowdown, including who owns what properties after the auction, and we discuss this a bit before digging into the game proper. We talk a little bit about the story, the combat, the soundtrack, and of course the dungeons. Believe it or not, as lacking as we found some of the story elements, we did find ourselves enjoying the characters a bit, and even finding some humor in how over-the-top War can be. Natrually, the star here is the gameplay, and it is solid, so if anybody out there was holding out, just know that after a slow start, the game does get fun once you get into that first dungeon. Also, this is how I picture Jesse cleaning his house now: We had some interesting things happen around this podcast, so make sure you stick around after the music for some outtakes, unless you hate fun or something.

On this, the final episode of Backloggers Anonymous covering Too Human, we discuss the final two missions, the overall plot and story, and dig a little deeper into the issues we had with some of the choices the game designers made. Joaquim gives up on his quest for dragon armor, Julian explains his love/hate relationship with Denis Dyack, and I, now free from pain meds, discusses my difficulty understanding Baldur as a character. Finally, we say our goodbyes and offer our final opinions of our journey though Too Human. A few ideas were discussed in this podcast that turned out to have pretty solid evidence behind them. Joaquim restates his theory that ODIN may not be an actual person, but something digital. Angelo supports this theory with some information he found in the game. Turns out, all we had to actually do was look in the instruction manual (remember those?) We found out that ODIN stands for Organically Distributed Intelligence Network. He is, in fact, a digital construct and not flesh and bone, and those mechanical ravens that show up from time to time are his eyes and ears. Julian also states that he believes Too Human was conceived originally as a single game, and that it was broken up into three pieces to make it into a trilogy instead of a single multi-disk game, which contributed to the overall shortness of the title, and it's sudden, blunt ending. Distructoid posted a quote (and this great picture I stole for this article) from Dyack that doesn't outright confirm this suspicion, but does add a little fuel to it: "The story was done a long time ago," [Dyack] said. "The theme of the first game is discovery, the theme of the second game is revenge, and the third game, enlightenment." As for myself, those who follow me on Twitter (@pixlaj) know that I've been quite taken with the Too Human soundtrack. I've included my personal favorite selection from the score at the end of the soundtrack in it's entirety. There's no outtakes after it or anything, so if Norse inspired metal isn't your thing, feel free to skip it. I won't be hurt. Promise. And with that, fellow Backloggers, we have officially recovered Too Human from our backlog. We'll be playing through Darksiders next, so grab a copy and get ready to play along!

Welcome back to Backloggers Anonymous for part two of our three part series on Too Human. At this point, we've finished half of the game (the first two missions) and have gotten a pretty good feel for what the title has to offer. We get started by talking about the assorted issues that get in the way of really enjoying the title. Some gameplay issues and interface problems get a pretty fair tongue lashing from the team. The game is not without its virtues though, and they get their fair share of time in the spotlight. If you've been playing along, you've probably got some experiences of your own to share, so sound off in the comments below and let us know how you're experience has been so far. Fair warning, I'm recovering from a recent surgery, and that means pain meds (don't worry, I'm fine.) Basically, I've been on my couch for a week now watching some of the weirder stuff on the TV, not shaving, and letting my hair grow out of control. In other words, I'm a quick spray tan away from being this guy: So how does that factor in with my game playing? Well listen and find out. There's even some outtakes on this episode that elaborate a little further, so sit back and enjoy, then get back to trimming down that backlog!

This week Nate fills in for Jason. First matter of business is what is on the forefront of many gamers minds this week: identity theft due to the Sony network compromise. Tune in to hear a few tips on watching your back online to ensure you don't suffer a financial disaster. Moving on we look at Jason's article concerning a possible Wii redesign and how likely or unlikely the prospect could be and what could be altered about the system considering the company's past and their most recent system, 3DS. Lastly Nate launches a crusade against the dangerous 'Backlog' by forming a new 12-step recovery program for those affected: Backloggers Anonymous. He hits the ground running by getting some play time in for Resident Evil, Silent Hill and Mario.
