The red rectangle hung emblazoned across the canvas in the centre of the empty room. Was this all he had to show for his artistic career? Could he do any better, was there more to offer? There was something special about the simplicity of the red square, it featured a sense of self importance which he could relate to. So often it had held him back before but now the red rectangle seemed to have more reason than it ever had before. It was no longer within his control, art was art, the red square was his... Dudley’s reputation has rocketed in the short time since his first solo release in 2009. Most notably “Stop Rewind” popped up on Richie Hawtin’s Twitter listings. His trademark driving, edgy house is pressed to wax by labels such as Tomoki Tamura’s Holic Trax, Klasse, Black Key and Delayed Audio, finding favour with the likes of Xpress 2, Ethyl, Iron Curtis, Fish Go Deep, The Mountain People & DJ Sneak.
The third installment of the Avenue Red podcast is a 3 hour-long back-to-back session from Nottingham duo Dudley Strangeways and Michael McLardy, two established stalwarts of the UK Deep House/Tech House circuit. Both are prolific producers and remixers as well as DJ's, both with a tall release history steeped in quality on heavyweight labels such as Back To You, Klasse, HOLIC TRAX, Resopal Schallware and Black Key among many others. This year Michael launched his own imprint, Left Wing, as a platform to push his own vision of deep electronic music with a strong focus on House & Techno forms. Also to be launched in January next year is a vinyl-only label called Leftback that will be used exclusively as a vehicle for the duos own productions. We think this live, one-take, vinyl-only recording is a real monster selection and well worth a solid 3 hours of your time if House and Techno music is in your veins. Lock yourself in a quiet room and take a heavy hit of the good stuff! @dudley-strangeways @michael-mclardy @leftwingrecordings @leftbackrecords ===== No tracklist for this mix, but feel free to add a timed comment to request a specific track ID.
