Is it possible to turn Texas Blue? Especially considering the large Latino, and Black voters in the state who share political interests like climate justice, housing justice, and immigration reform. Brianna Brown of the Texas Organizing Project, or TOP, joins Jen Taylor-Skinner, on The Electorette, to discuss how they are using collective organizing to build community, grow political power, and build unstoppable coalitions in Texas. We also discuss how the organization seeks to repair fissures created between Black and Latino communities that were widened during the 2024 election cycle. In which The Curmudgeons celebrate the music and indelible legacy of one of the 21st Century's smartest, most vital rock bands. When The Black Keys first hit in 2002, comparisons with The White Stripes were inevitable. After all, they were a duo that blasted forth with just a guitar and drums. But that's where the fair comparisons ended. The Black Keys offered up lean, mean, reverent blues rock with dashes of soul and psychedelia. After self-recording their first four albums--and mostly doing so in basements--the band graduated to the majors with the help of storied hip-hop producer Danger Mouse, instantly growing as an incredibly sensual musical force. We explore the band's entire catalog, including their brand-new record, Ohio Players. Enjoy heaping helpings of The Black Keys via our special Spotify playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4xTGizMTwVDR2bKBWulliT?si=b908d0c0745345fe Here's a handy navigation companion to this episode. On this week's podcast we're finally drawing a line under season 11 of The Football Manager Football Show.Liverpool have won the Premier League, Hoffenheim have finished outside of the European placings and a season that started united (no pun intended), ended divided which means it's time to settle on where we go for season 12.With Football Manager 2024 virtually around the corner (it's out in under two months from now), we've got a look at some more of the details emerging on FM24 and with the new game set to drop at 4pm on Monday 6 November, we've got ourselves a hustle to try and pack in what we can for season 12.With that in mind, we're turning the tide a little bit for one last roll of the FM23 dice and it starts this week.Contains strong language. As we await the Dominion lawsuit against FOX News, the trial has been delayed as the network pushes toward a settlement. Then, a look at the education system as more kids are having trouble reading than ever before - could it be the way they're being taught? And an anti-immigrant bill might turn Florida blue, as we've seen it happen once before in California with Prop 187.

On this episode of the Adventures of Pipeman, Pipeman speaks to Don Mancuso from Lips Turn Blue, who have just dropped their debut album.Don speaks about why they're releasing the album now and gives some of the backstory behind the music. They had intended on recording a song which was on a previous record of theirs to shine a light on the emergency responders during the pandemic, and it came out amazingly, and so decided to put together some more music. About 6 months to a year later, their singer was diagnosed with throat cancer and just before the album release, he passed away. The guys worked hard to get a record deal and eventually did in Germany and now the album is out. Everyone had a lot of good things to say about Phil. The guys have done a couple shows of late in Phoenix and Rochester, and are hoping to get out to tour at the end of summer or early fall with some bigger bands and try and make a name for themselves. The guys also reveal they've been working on a second album, using a few of the songs which didn't make the first album, as they continue with their new singer who is continuing Phil Naro's work. Phil Naro was a musical genius who left this world too early. You can check out the album the guys put out, which is some of Phil's best work, via their website lipsturnblue.com, where you can purchase the physical copies or you'll find a link to the streaming platforms in which it is available.

On this week's #HollowNet, Matt follows up on a forgotten story in the #Coronavirus drama: #HongKong. Things have not gone well for the small former British Island and it could be a harbinger of things to come for Taiwan. Here in the US, the left is trying to use a Real Estate deal done by one of Trump's partners with Chinese financing to try and compare him to the Bidens' level of blatant nepotism and cronyism. And will Red States flip Blue as Progressives flee the cities? This job no longer exists: the television horror movie host. They were local celebrities, and pillars of local pop culture. Here in Detroit, we had Sir Graves Ghastly and Morgus, among others. In our upcoming episode, The Detroit History Podcast interviews Ron Sweed (The Ghoul), who explains how The Ghoul came to be. And, why the firecrackers? He used to blow up everything from toys to pierogies.

Swiss novelist Joël Dicker is a publishing sensation - his novel The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair has won prizes in Europe and been translated into 38 languages. Now it's arrived in the UK. The novel is an intricate murder mystery and an exploration of writing and the writing industry.
