A Utah woman who got a pair of masks in the mail from the state's "Mask for Every Utahn" program was pretty shocked to find what was printed on the masks. Her masks had the image of a handgun and said "Don't Tread On Me." Now state officials are apologizing. Christine Passey joins to discuss.
Mark Lawrence and Joe McGranaghan host Shikellamy superintendent Dr. Jason Bendle on the graduation options, online learning, rural internet problems, cost savings, staffing, a typical day now, talk of federal help, next years budget and a one million dollar deficit, President Trump’s interest in reopening schools, how they test students, conduct school board meetings, and avoiding the summer slide of knowledge. During open phones, we discussed Joe Biden in passing, but mostly focused on the coronavirus/COVID-19 issues, face masks, person rights, and many related topics.
On Friday, roughly 1,500 protesters gathered on the state Capitol grounds to demand an end to Democratic Gov. Tony Evers’ COVID-19-related stay-at-home order. Many attendees criticized the Evers administration for infringing on their personal freedoms and crippling the state economy. Protesters carried signs with messages ranging from “Quarantine Tony Evers” to “Reopen Wisconsin,” waved American and Gadsden “Don’t tread on me” flags, and broke into chants including “U.S.A.” and “Bring back Scott,” a reference to former Republican Gov. Scott Walker — all while a convoy of vehicles circled the Capitol as part of the demonstration. Some in the crowd carried firearms, some wore protective masks, and others wore attire or carried signs supporting President Donald Trump. A few counter protesters were among the melee but an event was organized online to officially counter the in-person gathering and support Evers extension of the "safer at home" order to May 26. The original order was scheduled to end April 24. The socially-distanced, online counter protest drew over 10,000 attendees between Friday and Saturday. Support the show.
In this episode: This was recorded last month. We've been experimenting with growing our own food, since we plan to get back to our little cabin in the woods. In this episode, I go into detail about one of our eclectic crop choices this year: sorghum. Probably more than you'll ever want to know about sorghum and how we turned it into syrup with the help of others in the community (and a horse). It seems to me that growing our own food is just one step towards living a truly free life. Getting along with others in the community is another step. Baby steps. The guys plead with young parents to vaccinate their kids to prevent mass disease, but acknowledge the "Don't Tread On Me" sentiment as being something that exists. Jenny McCarthy was exploited but should know better. Andrew Wakefield as a root cause.

This year competitors may very well be risking their lives as they battle for gold at the Rio Olympics. Not only is the Olympic Village in disarray but sewage filled water, violent crime and Zika fears all add to the risks competitors face at this year's games. To top it off, the IRS would like to remind contestants that if they are lucky enough to survive this year's Hunger...I mean Olympic games and end up coming away with one of the three coveted medals, they will owe a tax on their "winnings." You see the IRS considers an Olympic medal to be "income" and thus taxable. Just one more way the government is doing it's part to make America a better place. The FTC is cutting down on companies that pay internet stars to endorse their products but fail to inform the public. Apparently, the government thinks it's their responsibility to keep you from being influenced by greedy corporations without your knowledge. This is the same government by the way that's mining data on you so they can better understand the most effective ways to spin new government programs. Anyone who thinks the "Affordable Care Act" got its name on accident is already a victim of this type of government manipulation. Finally, did you know the "Don't Tread On Me" flag may be racist? What isn't racist these days? It's all fair game apparently. We'll talk about it today. Don't miss out. JasonSupport the show.
