After their defeat, it comes to Moon Knights attention that Venom has sensed the sinister sound waves permeating through the city. Like a bloodhound, Moon Knight utilises Venom's sensitivity to sound, in order to track down the source…invariably the villain Moon Knight has been seeking - Sarnak. In his lair, after beating up his minions, Moon Knight finds Sarnak in a panic room…safe from Moon Knight…safe from vengeance. Matt Frame is a coal miner, avid outdoorsman, & son of a Baptist preacher in Nicholas County, West Virginia. After a folkloric intro about mine-rats, we get into what life is like for both miners today & in Matt's grandfather's time: the machines; depression from the darkness; dogs hauling coal; the quiet killers "black damp" & "black lung;" losing three fingers & narrowly missing a ceiling collapse; the job-site latrine; finding fossils as large as trees; & a miner's soul. For the last third of the conversation, we surface from the coal pit to the light of day guided by folkways & The Bible. First Matt tells of heartbreak while digging ginseng; fox trapping, his grandma's rabbits, a pie crust signature, & making medicine from river yellow root. Then we get into his faith with his salvation, preaching revival, & lessons learned about the sin of pride. PHASE OF THE MOON: null and void SEGMENT: MOONSHINE Moon Knight Vol. 9 #22 "Instinct" Release Date April 12, 2023 Cover Date June, 2023   Writer(s) Jed MacKay Penciler(s) Alessandro Cappuccio Inker(s) Alessandro Cappuccio Colorist(s) Rachelle Rosenberg Letterer(s) VC's Cory Petit Editor(s) Tom Brevoort   BARE BONES (Written by Rey): An old villain seemingly returns to cause havoc to the criminal underworld before turning his attention to wealthy citizens. Tigra discusses the return of Midnight Man with Mr Knight, at Tigra's apartment, alongside her son William. Mr. Knight appears disinterested in Midnight Man's escapades much to Tigra's surprise, and so she takes it upon herself to hunt him down, but not before a viewing of the Goonies on VHS. Touching base with Detective Flint and Hawkeye, Tigra manages to track down a common thread between the robberies and a grisly event that occurred to the victims' parents…all slain by what appears to be a wild animal. Tigra ponders Marc's nonchalance at capturing his old nemesis, and it's not long before Tigra leaps in for the kill, after staking out the Midnight Man at his final target. Shockingly, the Midnight Man is revealed as Marc himself, and he explains to Tigra, the financial need to rob from the rich and criminal. Tigra is hurt at having been lied to by Marc, after all they have been through and so she leaves him at the rooftop, with Marc himself aware of the cruelty he's inflicted on yet another person he cares about. Later on, Marc returns to Tigra's apartment, sans mask, in a symbol of wanting to be closer with Tigra and wanting to be genuine with her. The issue ends with Tigra kissing Marc and clearly over the moon, with what could be the start of a new relationship.   MOON RATING : Rebecca:

With an extensive history as a researcher and writer for spirits and cocktails, Colin is Moonshine University's Director of Spirits Education. He also created the Stave & Thief Society, the only industry-backed bourbon certification program, wherein he holds the title of Managing Director.As a native of New Mexico, Colin has traveled far and wide to satisfy his thirst for knowledge in the areas of history, visual communication, and beverages. He previously worked as a touring photographer for musicians before moving to Los Angeles, where he then worked as a production designer for big names like Sony, Showtime, HBO, and WB. Bags of blood are consumed and Reese feels a casual night of fun on the dance floor is exactly what Soldier needs.  Jake arrives as their ride into town and he confirms that Marc has had to have some down time himself due to the recent events with Zodiac and Dr Plesko. Dropping them off at a club and helping them through the door,  Jake leaves Reese,  Soldier, Shannon and Teddy to their fun. After what seems like a fun filled night of dancing soon turns to chaos as Reese and Soldier see the DJ accosted then replaced by a masked Villain.  Music soon turns to ear splitting pain for the patrons before transforming them into blood thirsty maniacs.  Moon Knight rushes in and all hell breaks loose before Reese is able to subdue the villain with a neat trick of her own.  Back in the present,  Reese ponders the theory that the events at the club could well be connected to Moon Knight's past misfortunes…misfortunes that will no doubt crop up again soon.   MOON RATING : Rebecca:
