Johnny “Chops” Richardson lives in Austin, TX with his wife and their two Basset hounds, Reggie and Emmylou. He has been writing and performing music since his uncle gave him a battered acoustic guitar at age 16. Since 2002, Johnny has logged thousands of miles and 8 albums playing bass for The Randy Rogers Band.  Several of his tunes have made their way onto the bands albums, and his song “Last Last Chance” garnered a Texas music chart #1. In 2013  he released his first album as a solo artist, Sticks & Stones.  Next came  the eponymous "Johnny Chops & The Razors" and a second single and video, "Taking A Chance On Me".   On tour now, he plays with both bands. Halo Circus is a bilingual alternative electronic rock duo based in Los Angeles, California, composed of vocalist Allison Iraheta and bassist Matthew Hager.  Formed in 2012 by Iraheta, a finalist on American Idol, the band began as a rock quartet belting out power songs carried by Iraheta’s huge voice. This year the band evolved into a futuristic electronic rock duo with English and Spanish lyrics laced with heavy social commentary and a way out there sound tht audiences are eating up around the country.  The duo’s recent album, Robots and Wranglers has been met with rave reviews and predictions of being an Album of the Year, following three nominations for LA Music Critic Awards.  They have just wrapped up a sold-out 30 city tour and are back home in Los Angeles.

AFTERBUZZ TV - AfterBuzz TV's Mini Spotlight edition, is a short form interview series featuring actors & artists discussing their roles and shows as well as their thoughts, passions and journeys. In this episode host Morgan Willett interviews Halo Circus. (Los Angeles) -- Allison Iraheta’s critically acclaimed Halo Circus have returned with a bold and incendiary new single, “Narcissist.” The track, which premiered on Billboard.com, sees the duo ditching the four piece rock band aesthetics and opting for a lyrically audacious and in your face electronic sound. “We spent every day on tour on our phones on social media,” Iraheta told Billboard when speaking about the inspiration behind the new single. “You get to a point where you wake up, turn to the phone and you're immersed in that world. Whether you want to be or not, it's all screaming in your face. That being said, it was also incredibly fun to sing.”

Two of my favorite artists.  Maggie Szabo and Allison Iraheta of  and Halo Circus both with homecomings this week. Halo Circus is an LA-based bilingual alternative rock band composed of vocalist Allison Iraheta, guitarist Brian Stead, bassist Matthew Hager and drummer Veronica Bellino. Halo Circus was formed in 2012 by Iraheta, a finalist on American Idol. She had released her debut album, Just Like You in 2009 and met producer/songwriter/musician Hager They wrote together and later formed Halo Circus whose crowd-sourced "Follow the Rabbit” US Summer Tour",  kicked off in SoCal in August and wraps up with a blowout concert Nov 11  in Los Angeles  at the Hotel Café.  But we get to interview them that morning.    Maggie Szabo is a Canadian-born, LA-based  soul-pop singer whose vocals and songwriting has earned 13 million YouTube, sold out performances and well-deserved songwriting awards.  Small but powerful, Szabo is famed for holding audiences hushed as she starts songs in whispers and then rises to room-filling belts, Winner of the International Songwriting Competition, Maggie is a featured vocalist and songwriter on the new album from German electronic DJ, Schiller, which has sold 7 million albums worldwide and debuted at #1 in Germany. Her single ‘Forgive and Forget’, was premiered by Yahoo Music and licensed in Criminal Minds and Keeping Up with the Kardashians among others . And, never one to stand still long, she has released a new single, “Smile” and has an album in the works.
