Lollapalooza is a popular music festival that takes place in Chicago's Grant Park each year. But it was conceived as a farewell tour for the band Jane's Addiction, kicking off with a series of chaotic performances across the United States in the summer of 1991. Lollapalooza, a new oral history by Richard Bienstock and Tom Beaujour, documents the wild early days of the festival through interviews with bands like Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails and Green Day. Blending alternative, indie, and folk influences, their music is grounded in emotional honesty, life experience, and the pursuit of purpose. After decades of living distinctly different paths—Jeff as a music producer and IT professional, and Heath as a Marine and long-distance runner—the duo found their creative spark again, and are now crafting songs that connect deeply with listeners seeking meaning and authenticity.Their writing process is highly collaborative and rooted in trust—often beginning with a riff, phrase, or feeling and building into something meaningful through real-time feedback and mutual intuition. Lyrics emerge from unfiltered moments of reflection and honesty, shaped by the rhythm of conversation and the weight of shared history. The result is music that feels lived-in, grounded, and refreshingly human.Website: https://hecojeni.com/Thanks for tuning in, please be sure to click that subscribe button and give this a thumbs up!!Email: thevibesbroadcast@gmail.comInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/listen_to_the_vibes_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thevibesbroadcastnetworkLinktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastTikTok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMeuTVRv2/Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheVibesBrdcstTruth: https://truthsocial.com/@KoyoteFor all our social media and other links, go to: Linktree: https://linktr.ee/the_vibes_broadcastPlease subscribe, like, and share!
In this enlightening episode of the Prometheus Lens Podcast, host Doc Brown engages in a deep conversation with musician and author Robert Clark, from the band Pilgrims Grey. They explore Robert's journey from being a passionate music listener to becoming a musician and author, discussing the creative process behind his band Pilgrims Grey and the concept album that intertwines themes of spirituality, politics, and the human experience. The conversation delves into the significance of the 'gray' perspective in navigating complex political narratives, the influence of blood and life force in cultural stories, and the musical inspirations that shaped Robert's work. This episode is a rich tapestry of ideas that encourages critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world around us. In this conversation, Robert Clark delves into the narrative of his musical project, 'The Grey Wanderer,' exploring themes of ancient history, spiritual awakening, and the influence of music as a storytelling medium. He discusses the character of the Grey Wanderer, the antediluvian world, and the concept of the Watchers, while emphasizing the importance of merging sound with narrative to create a compelling experience. The dialogue also touches on the idea of 'red-pilling' listeners through music, predictive programming in media, and the power of music as a tool for influence and awareness.Head over to http://www.prometheuslenspodcast.com to sign up for the "All Access Pass" and get early access to episodes, private community, members only episodes, private Q & A's, and coming documentaries. an Anderson Talks New Jethro Tull Album Curious Ruminant And Band's Legacy On The Loaded Radio Podcast TL;DR Jethro Tull frontman Ian Anderson joins The Loaded Radio Podcast to discuss the band's latest album Curious Ruminant, which arrived on March 7, 2025. Anderson shares insights into the songwriting process, the return of former keyboardist Andrew Giddings, and how the band's sound continues to evolve. He also reflects on Jethro Tull's historic Grammy win over Metallica, their legacy in progressive rock, and more. Listen to the full episode at the bottom of this article or wherever you get your podcasts. Ian Anderson Discusses Curious Ruminant And Jethro Tull's Everlasting Influence Few bands in rock history have maintained the creative energy and musical sophistication of Jethro Tull. With a career spanning over five decades, the British progressive rock icons are set to return with their latest studio album, Curious Ruminant. This marks their third album in just four years, following the success of The Zealot Gene (2022) and RökFlöte (2023). Ian Anderson, the band's founder, flutist, and frontman, joined The Loaded Radio Podcast to discuss the new record, the creative process behind it, and Tull's enduring legacy in the world of progressive and folk rock. Curious Ruminant: A Deep Dive Into The New Album The album consists of nine tracks, ranging from short two-and-a-half-minute compositions to a near seventeen-minute epic. The LP features a mix of full-band performances and intricate acoustic arrangements, staying true to Tull's signature blend of progressive rock, folk, and classical influences. Notably, the album sees the return of former keyboardist Andrew Giddings, alongside longtime members David Goodier (bass), John O'Hara (piano, keyboards, accordion), and Scott Hammond (drums). Newcomer Jack Clark makes his Jethro Tull recording debut on electric guitar, while James Duncan (drums, cajón, percussion) also contributes to the recording. Anderson revealed that some of the compositions stem from unfinished instrumental demos recorded years ago, yet they blend seamlessly with the newly crafted material. The album's sonic palette includes not only his signature flute solos and melodies but also accordion, mandolin, acoustic and tenor guitars, evoking the spirit of Jethro Tull's 1970s folk-prog era. Ian Anderson On The Writing Process The creative process for Curious Ruminant began shortly after the release of RökFlöte in 2023. Anderson started conceptualizing the album in late 2023, with the first musical ideas taking shape by May 2024. By June, lyrics and melodies were flowing effortlessly, creating a natural synergy between the new and previously recorded material. Unlike many of Tull's past releases, Curious Ruminant features more personal, introspective lyrics. Anderson, known for his sharp observational songwriting, balances his trademark wit with moments of deep self-reflection. However, as he humorously points out, fans shouldn't expect the typical “I-me” lyricism found in mainstream rock and pop. Jethro Tull's Historic Grammy Win Over Metallica In addition to discussing the new album, Anderson reflects on one of the most controversial moments in Grammy history—Jethro Tull's victory over Metallica in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance category in 1989. At the time, Metallica was widely expected to win for …And Justice for All, but the award instead went to Tull's Crest of a Knave, sparking outrage among metal fans. While Anderson has addressed the incident numerous times over the years, he still finds humor in the situation. The band didn't even attend the ceremony, assuming they had no chance of winning. However, the moment has since become an infamous chapter in both Jethro Tull's and Metallica's histories. An Enduring Legacy Formed in 1967, Jethro Tull carved a unique path in rock music by incorporating progressive rock, folk, blues, and classical elements into their sound. Led by Anderson's unmistakable flute playing and poetic lyricism, the band has released 23 studio albums, including landmark records like Aqualung (1971), Thick as a Brick (1972), and Songs from the Wood (1977). Even after decades in the industry, Anderson remains committed to crafting thought-provoking, musically rich compositions. With Curious Ruminant, he continues to push the boundaries of Tull's sound while honoring its rich legacy.

Jamie James, guitarist, singer, and songwriter, joins Charles on Seeing Them Live to discuss his musical journey and new album Straight Up, released on Oglio Records.Jamie reflects on his early musical influences, growing up in Woodstock, Ontario, and his transition from aspiring hockey player to musician after a knee injury. He shares how he taught himself guitar on a damaged acoustic and recalls receiving his first real guitar as a Christmas gift in 1966. The conversation turns to Jamie's formative concert experiences, including seeing Tommy James and the Shondells, Deep Purple, Sly and the Family Stone, The Who, and an early performance by Queen in a small London club. Jamie describes how these shows influenced his approach to live performance. He recounts his time in the 1970s rock scene, playing with various bands before joining the New Steppenwolf in 1977. After leaving the New Steppenwolf, Jamie formed The Kingbees, an ‘80s rockabilly trio that gained a cult following.A favorable review in LA Weekly helped them gain popularity, attracting large crowds to their shows. He discusses their unique rockabilly-inspired style, which predated the Stray Cats and MTV, and his personal shift toward a Buddy Holly-influenced guitar approach. Jamie also shares anecdotes about the LA music scene, recalling interactions with The Blasters and Blackie Dammett, father of Anthony Kiedis, who became an informal emcee for The Kingbees. Additionally, he recounts signing with RSO Records in 1980, initially seeing little success until their song My Mistake gained radio traction in Detroit. This newfound exposure led to major performance opportunities, including a replacement slot at the Toledo Speedway Jam alongside ZZ Top, AC/DC, and Sammy Hagar; a wild gig that took an unexpected turn involving a whiskey bottle that injured an audience member. After the Kingbees disbanded in 1981, Jamie pursued a solo career, but his EP failed to resonate with him. A chance encounter with actor Harry Dean Stanton at a July 4th gathering led to a close friendship and musical collaboration that lasted for years. Jamie formed a band with Stanton, regularly performing at The Lighthouse and The Mint. Later, he connected with actor Dennis Quaid, leading to the formation of The Sharks, a band that endured for nearly 20 years.A severe health scare in 2020 prompted Jamie to recommit to songwriting, leading to the creation of new music during the Covid pandemic. Despite financial challenges, his bandmates were eventually drawn in by the strength of his songs, paving the way for his latest album, Ain't No Big Thing (https://oglio.com/).Jamie's story is one of resilience, reinvention, and an enduring love for making music. Rik Emmett of Triumph returns to the podcast. The singer/songwriter/guitarist behind the hit Triumph songs “Hold On”, “Lay It On The Line”, “Fight The Good Fight”, “Magic Power”, and “Somebody's Out There” is about to release his second book. Ten Telecaster Tales: Liner Notes for a Guitar and Its Music. The followup to his memoir Lay It On The Line, Ten Telecaster Tales remakes the idea of the “concept album.” It is music that arrives inside a book. It's also, arguably, the most comprehensive attempt at liner notes in the history of electric instrumental fingerstyle guitar albums. Emmett delves into the creative process — the roots, influences, philosophy, and spirituality involved in writing and recording and breaks down the ten tracks included on his brand new album titled Ten Telecaster Tales.Purchase a copy of Ten Telecaster Tales: Liner Notes for a Guitar and Its Music Episode Playlist ----------BookedOnRock.com The Booked On Rock Store The Booked On Rock YouTube Channel Follow The Booked On Rock with Eric Senich:FACEBOOKINSTAGRAMTIKTOKX Find Your Nearest Independent Bookstore Contact The Booked On Rock Podcast: thebookedonrockpodcast@gmail.com The Booked On Rock Music: “Whoosh” by Crowander / “Last Train North” & “No Mercy” by TrackTribe

Welcome to our podcast where we discuss and deliberate over memoirs and biographies found in thrift shops. This is a great way to do things as we are not choosing who to read about. We may not be fans of the person, we may never have heard of the person and we never know who we are going to find next...There are only 2 rules to this podcast. The book has to be found in a thrift shop and we are not allowed to talk about the book until we press record, which is sometimes agonising. We have lots of episodes coming up so if you find yourself enjoying our podcast, please be sure to subscribe to be among the first to hear about each episode.

Brian Epstein and Albert Grossman were two of the most important managers in the history of rock music. Brian was of course the manager of The Beatles and was their guiding force taking them from a scruffy Liverpool existence to the top of the entertainment world. He went on to manage a number of the British Invasion stars including Gerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas, Cilla Black and the Moody Blues. Albert Grossman was the hard charging manager of Bob Dylan and a number of other artists who were an integral part of the folk music scene in the 1960s including Peter Paul and Mary, Janis Joplin, The Band, Odetta, Gordon Lightfoot and Richie Havens.---------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! For more information and other episodes of the podcast click here. Glam rock was more than just a sound—it was a shift in how music, fashion, and identity intertwined. We explore the rise of Glam in the early ‘70s, with David Bowie as its central figure. Through alter egos like Ziggy Stardust and the Thin White Duke, Bowie use theatricality, androgyny, and science fiction themes to push the boundaries of rock music and stardom. But Glam wasn't just Bowie. UK Artists like T. Rex and Slade, and Americans like Lou Reed and Alice Cooper each brought their own take, blending rock with elaborate visuals and a playful disregard for traditional norms. Glam faded after a few short years, but its influence is lasting. Glam style and attitude reappear, over and over, in Rock Music.
