We had the pleasure of interviewing Wowashwow over Zoom video!Rising hip-hop artist and female powerhouse, Wowashwow, has released her sophomore album, The Algorithm. This body of work is a testament to Wowashwow's ability to blend her punk rock heritage, eccentric indie hip-hop vibes, freestyle rap finesse, and a fearless approach to "obliterating the pop formula." The result is a genre-fluid experience that defies categorization. Produced by Sam J Garfield, The Algorithm challenges the premeditated and quantified nature of algorithms that govern online society and social media-crazed humankind, and it seeks to shatter the rules and bring back the magic and essence of art, music, and creativity. With the visual surrealism of Missy Elliot, the untamable energy of Tina Turner meets Mick Jagger, and the genre-fluidity reminiscent of Radiohead; our South Jersey/Philly raised visionary is presenting a body of work so profoundly groundbreaking, that it is fragmenting the current set of rules and obliterating the mundane nature of it all. The Algorithm loosely tells the story of a character from another dimension visiting planet Earth, providing a unique perspective on their experience navigating between worlds. It's a manifesto of authenticity and empathy, reminding us that we are all aliens in a world controlled by the algorithm. The question arises: Who will be the first to crack the code?MORE INFO: At age six, Wowashwow was writing her first original songs which quickly led to an early career as the lead guitarist and singer of punk rock band, “Rise from Ashes.” This newfound fame evolved into a tour where she opened for The Ramones' drummer, Marky Ramone, and recorded her first album under the direction of the iconic rock legend, Steve Albini. At age 18, Wowashwow moved to NYC and discovered the underground hip hop and ballroom scene, heavily influencing her approach to songwriting, stage performance and overall lifestyle. Now hailing from Los Angeles, she's played over 15 shows in two years, opened for Snoop Dog and Travis Barker, appeared at the Soul Train Awards 2022, charted #115 on the Hot300 List and has been featured in Earmilk, iHeart Radio's Arena Podcast, and has been on regular radio rotation on 101.5 FM (Los Angeles). On top of releasing her own music, Wowashwow hopped onto Love Bailey's track “Hornatia” late last year, with PAPER Magazine referring to her vocals as “commanding” and “hypnotic.” Following its release, “Hornatia” was an official selection short for the Cannes Film Festival. So far 2023 has been a whirlwind for Wowashwow, with a Tiny Desk Contest nomination, performances at San Francisco Pride, Venice Pride and Miami Pride, and a debut her previous body of work at The Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles. We want to hear from you! EP. 24: INTERVIEW WITH ANNABEL LEECharles interviews Annabel Lee, a force in the underground Los Angeles music scene, packing every venue she plays (The Echo, School Night, Satellite, Moroccan Lounge, Hotel Cafe and more). Her current album MOTHER'S HAMMER is available on all D.S.P's.   “Alt-rock killer Queen Annabel Lee is rising from the L.A. underground scene biting down a knife as sharp as the lyrics to her song. She started out kicking it in the New England scene, where she would develop that manic, live-wire stage presence and energy that's characterized her every step of the way. Lee seems to go berserk and believable rumors say that she has the power to induce that savagery in the audience as well.“- LADYGUNN   ANNABEL LEE is also the creator and curator of the Sweat Gala, an annual multi-media, fine art rock showcase and art auction in Los Angeles. Annabel was direct support for one of Amanda Palmer's tours, and has had songs featured on shows such as Mrs. Fletcher (HBO), Lucifer (Netflix), The Rookie (ABC), and in a national ad campaign for Casper Mattress. She was booted off of Songland by Leona Lewis and Ester Dean said, “you're an artist, don't give away your song. . . I love everything about you.”  Annabel's debut album ‘MOTHER'S HAMMER' released in March of 2023. “The alt-pop frontrunner rises to the tempestuous challenge of the debut album, impressing with the diverse and compelling project. We had the pleasure of interviewing Begonia over Zoom video!Powder Blue, the highly anticipated new album from Begonia—the solo project of alt-pop Canadian artist Alexa Dirks—is out now on Birthday Cake Records. The album was written and produced by Begonia, Matt Peters and Matthew Schellenberg (Royal Canoe) with contributions from Jason Agel (Björk, Kelly Clarkson, Prince) and Joe LaPorta (FKA twigs, beabadoobee, Solange). The new collection of songs wrestles with life's thornier moments in more evocative ways. When describing the namesake behind the new album, Powder Blue, Begonia turns to vivid imagery: her baby blanket, the airiness of clouds on a summer day, chlorine-filled water in a hotel pool, circa-1970s Elvis Presley wearing an ill-fitting jumpsuit and her collection of faded denim jackets.Ahead of the project, Begonia shared album singles “Married By Elvis,” “Cold Night” and “Right Here” which received critical acclaim from CBC, Wonderland, Line of Best Fit, Indie88, Daily Star and Globe & Mail.In celebration of the new album, Begonia is set for a run of U.S. shows in select cities this spring. The dates include a performance at New York's Mercury Lounge as well as further shows at Los Angeles' Hotel Cafe, Nashville's The Basement, Portland's Hawthorne Lounge and Seattle's Sunset Tavern. More dates to be announced soon.Powder Blue follows Begonia's 2017 EP Lady In Mind and debut album Fear, released in 2019 to widespread critical praise. Fear received a nomination for Alternative Album of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards and also earned Begonia a nod for Polaris Music Prize. As Begonia, Alexa Dirks creates bold, surprising pop that is tempered with sensitivity and wisdom. In her music, Begonia leans hard into a sense of arrival. Whether it's learning to come into her own or processing a brutal heartbreak, Dirks' intimate lyrics and audacious sound allows for her audience to relate to the messiness of life with an honesty that is refreshing. Despite the turmoil from which it emerged, Powder Blue represents Dirks feeling settled by coming to terms with her past and present—from religious conflict to exploring sexuality and managing mental health, the new album finds Dirks wrestling with life's thornier moments in more evocative ways.We want to hear from you! We had the pleasure of interviewing Annabel Lee over Zoom video!Los Angeles-based alt-rocker Annabel Lee shares her debut album Mother's Hammer!Written mostly while in quarantine in 2020, Mother's Hammer gave Annabel Lee time to reflect on preceding years which were some of the hardest of her life. After a cross-country move to pursue music, Lee found herself in challenging situations, from struggling with addiction and running out of money to ending an eight year relationship that left her without a place to live. It was from this profound hardship that an incredibly intimate, expansive body of work emerged. Diving into the subject matter, Lee shares, "Some of the stories on the album relate to being strung along by vampires in the industry. Being mistreated and taken advantage of. Fumbling around trying to fall in love and staying numb at every turn. Grieving the loss of friends, gone much too soon, and trying to see the silver linings but losing hope. Being 3,000 miles from anyone that actually knew me. It was a very dark and informative time."Over 11 compelling tracks, Annabel paints a realistic portrait of the human experience that never hesitates to confront even the most grim aspects of her life. Conversely, Annabel matches these darker emotions with joyous moments, shining a bright light on womanhood with gritty, fiery energy as she finds her own strength and begins to fully trust herself. The music meets her where she is, putting both her artistry and humanity on full display like never before. All songs were written by Annabel Lee, and produced and recorded by Justin Glasco. It was mixed by Ryan Lipman and mastered by Jett Galindo at Bakery Mastering. All vocals are also by Annabel Lee and instrumentation is by Lee and Glasco.Annabel got her start as the acoustic opener for hardcore shows around New England and since moving out to Los Angeles, has quickly built a die-hard fan base as she fills clubs around town including the famed School Night showcase, the Echo, Gold Diggers, the Satellite, and the Hotel Cafe. The alt-pop singer/songwriter Mothica also cites herself as a fan, where she posted a TikTok of herself front row at an Annabel Lee concert with the caption “I love it when women…” cut to Annabel thrashing onstage to her song “Ugly Son of a Bitch.”Mother's Hammer, the raw, ethereal debut album by Annabel Lee is available everywhere now!We want to hear from you! Kara Connolly has it all! Charisma, a commanding stage presence, an emotive voice, and that rare gift for writing songs that are simultaneously heartfelt, sincere and undeniably infectious upon first listen. Despite being a wholly independent, self-supported artist, she's been nominated for three Hollywood Music in Media Awards (Best Independent Music Video and Best Message Song/Social Impact), on the first-round GRAMMY® ballot for “Best Pop Vocal” album, and ranked in industry insider Music Connection Magazine as one of their Top 4 Unsigned Artists of the year with MC declaring, “When the artist's voice is this good and her material is both eloquent and commercial, the results are unquestionably label ready.” After the success of her first record, "Life in Rear View,” which included rave reviews in a variety of tastemaker publications such as The Line of Best Fit, Popdust, and Hollywood Life, as well as sold-out shows at Los Angeles hotspots The Hotel Cafe and Interscope's The Peppermint Club, Kara's devoted supporters (or “Karakeets” as they have so proudly claimed their fandom) had a lot to tweet about. She returned with an even bigger bang––a more developed sound and two very successful singles, “Roses” and “Something More,” resulting in noteworthy features within SPIN Magazine, Rolling Stone IN, American Songwriter, and an exclusive KTLA 5 News performance. “Something More” and its enchanting music video have received well over a quarter of a million views on YouTube and counting. “Roses” is currently charting on “What's In-Store Music” via AllAccess for spinning in retail stores such as Staples, Subway, Walmart, and Hyatt around 60K times a week. Now, Kara's back with a brand new, upcoming E.P. “California Queen” — a cathartic alt-pop record centered around self-discovery. Recorded mostly remotely during the pandemic, in collaboration with a variety of talented producers, including #1 hit-makers David Baron (Lana Del Rey, The Lumineers, Jade Bird) out in New York, and Forest Glen Whitehead (Kelsea Ballerini, Mickey Guyton) in Nashville, “California Queen'' is a triumphant take on stepping into your own power. Well-respected, independent music journal, Atwood Magazine writes, “A soaring, dramatic overhaul of the self roaring with effervescent sonics, [it's] an impassioned deep dive into a world of fracture and becoming…a refreshing take on one person's journey of depression, self-discovery, and healing – full of cathartic release and massive, arena-sized reckonings.” It's evident that Connolly believes fun and vulnerability are not mutually exclusive, and in doing so she's created a record full of memorable hooks, high energy vocals, dreamy guitars, lush backing tracks, and bold lyrics that simultaneously elicit wisdom while examining her innermost thoughts and fears. Created for the recovering people-pleasers, perfectionists, and anxious workaholics of the world, Kara muses, “I wrote these songs almost as mantras. A California Queen acknowledges their self-worth, owns their power, and embraces magic and wonder.” She continues, “California Queen is a state of mind. There is no King or Queen of California, but you can be one by trusting your intuition and making your own rules up as you go.” Whatever sort of rules Kara is making should be played by. As a songwriter, Kara has written songs that have been placed on multiple Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music editorial playlists and have received major placements within studio films, network television shows, and ads for Lionsgate, ABC, Netflix, Showtime, IKEA, NBA 2K and more. Represented by Low Profile NYC for music licensing and Malibu Artists Agency for acting, Kara shows no sign of stopping. She continuously works on new music as she simultaneously auditions for network television shows and studio films. #NewMusic #Interview #CreativeContent

Skyler Day is a singer, songwriter and producer with a knack for crafting songs that have the ability to warm your heart and break it at the same time. The LA-based artist recently won second place in the International Songwriting Competition for “The Best Worst Thing”, the closing track on her EP “Songs from the Greenhouse”, which was written, recorded, and produced by Day from a tiny shed-turned-studio in her backyard. Praised by American Songwriter for her “enchanting rasp” and “candid lyricism”, the EP further bolsters Day's reputation for being a raw and honest storyteller. Hollywood Life raves “Songs from the Greenhouse delivers five tracks of Skyler's signature striking songwriting. Case in point: the lead single, “The Best Worst Thing,” whose opening lines (“I hate that you've seen me naked / I hate all those smiles I was faking”) are an explosion of emotion, one that carries throughout the entire EP.”  Day has captured the attention of fans across the globe, including GRAMMY-winning artist Kacey Musgraves, who handpicked her for a mentorship that focuses on putting more women on stage at major music festivals, including ACL Festival, where Day had her festival debut in 2021. On top of that, the Georgia-native has also sold out venues like the Troubadour and Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles.  In addition to her music career, Day is a well-established actress recurring on shows such as NBC's Parenthood, Law & Order: SVU, the hit series Pretty Little Liars, and FOX's The Resident. We had the pleasure of interviewing Ari Herstand over Zoom video! Today, singer/songwriter, entrepreneur and best-selling music business author Ari Herstand releases his introspective new album ‘Like Home.’ With delicate atmospheres, textured percussion and an underlying feeling of comfort, Ari invites the listener into the autobiographical sounds of transformative heartbreak. “The only way I knew how to process my breakup from an 11 year relationship was to write about it,” Ari says. After writing 40 raw demos to help him navigate this monumental change, the singer narrowed his creations down to six tracks. Vulnerable, contemplative and vividly honest at times, the album lays out the singer’s personal journey of rediscovering the meaning of “home” after the stable presence of a long-term relationship was lost. “I feel like I’m cheating on you when I kiss another woman,” Ari admits in the opening track and previous single “Like Home,” surrounded by acoustic plucking. Alongside the shimmer and sway of “Drifting,” written about the dysfunction of time during a strange month living with his partner post-separation and “Birthday,” a sincere piano ballad wishing her well on the first birthday apart, these three highlighted singles gave listeners a taste of the emotion yet to come. Through new tracks “Fine Without Me,” “Guard” and “Half Way,” a passionate anthem featuring the vocals of current partner Annabel Lee (and the muse of the song), Ari rounds out a universally relatable collection of songs that authentically examine the experience of a breakup from every angle. Overall, ‘Like Home’ pulls the listener into the singer’s perspective in an evocatively real, reflective way. The project is an impressive venture from Ari, who has made a name for himself teaching independent artists how to succeed in the music business through his blog Ari’s Take and the subsequent book and podcast series. Hailing from Los Angeles by way of south Florida, Michael Kaiser is a singer-songwriter known for his somber and soulful musical delivery. Taking influence from artists old and new, Michael's melodies settle somewhere between Damien Rice and Leif Vollebekk often reading like poems. Settling in to Los Angeles just a short time ago, Michael has landed performances onto some of the city's most coveted stages including multiple stints at The Hotel Cafe, Desert Nights, Pappy and Harriets, The Satellite, and Highland Park Bowl to name a few. Michael's debut EP, Hello Coyote, is available now as of Jan 22, 2021 on all streaming platforms. “Hello Coyote brings together all of my muses: family, friendships, romance and the summer nights in any place on earth where it's warm enough to feel it in your bones. Over the last few years, writing and making music became my reasons for keeping on, and these songs are attempts to find the rhythm in life's changes and in life's heartache, and the coyotes, still running through the hills.” - Live at 5 is an Anchor Eighty Four Media original. In this weeks episode, I sit down and chat with recording artist out of Hollywood, California, one half of the "Swamp Gang" Wild The Coyote! Funny little story about this guest, I actually met him while I was at a Yelawolf concert in London, Ontario back in 2019! Him and BADD Wolf opened up for him while on his Canadian leg of the tour! Wild the Coyote used to be apart of a hard rock band, before embarking on a solo career! He is such a humbled and down to earth dude, who would give the shirt off his back to anyone! We talk about his love for music starting at such a young age, growing up in wine country in California! His real love for music really started when Green Days Dookie album came out back in the early 90s! He really wanted to be like Billy Joe Armstrong! He is now a very successful solo artist with many great songs in his library! My most favourite to date is Old Man! Credit submithub.com for the below words Wild the Coyote is a folk-rock musician who blurs the lines of genres and reimagines traditional forms of performance and storytelling. From the small country town of Templeton on California's central coast, his influences range from country legend Johnny Cash, Puddles Pity Party, & Yelawolf. In Summer 2017 he debuted new single and video for “The Boondocks,” from upcoming EP “The Phantom and the Black Crow,” which will showcase his newest blend of sounds including country, trip hop, and blues. Wild the Coyote's live show is a captivating experience full of Wild West inspired antics and gloom. In 2016, he sold out venues such as the world-renowned Viper Room on the Sunset Strip, and held multiple residencies, most recently at Hollywood's famous Hotel Cafe. Catalyzed by his 2016 release of "The Man on Top of the Hill" and "The Hollow Woods" featured on his Pandora station and YouTube channel, Wild the Coyote has garnered a loyal following in LA and beyond, as well as a significant online fan base. Abby Posner has been a working musician in Los Angeles for the past 16 years. She is best known for her ability to play nearly any instrument that she can lay her hands on, twisting genres, and pushing the boundaries of folk and roots music. If you have seen Abby perform live, you know she can play a mean lead-blues guitar solo, or throw down a complex Earl Scruggs banjo riff. You also may have spotted her playing drums, mandolin, or bass while using her looping pedal. In addition to her versatility, she puts passion and soul into everything she plays. This CalArts music graduate has composed music for commercials/TV, films, and radio shows all over the globe (including Old Fashioned, The Fosters, This American Life, The Art of More, and Last Tango in Halifax just to name a few). She also has music placed in commercials and TV shows all over China, Sweden, The UK, and Australia. Posner appeared in two episodes of GLEE on season four playing banjo and guitar, and the Freeform show Famous In Love playing banjo. In 2015 Posner performed live on KCAL 9 news and Good Day LA playing original songs. Posner has scored three films (Across Land Across Sea, Through Their Eyes, and award winning short Animation Elizabeth Sees) while playing and touring with her indie folk band Abby and The Myth. In 2019 Posner will be a principal role in a Bank Of America commercial for the Ken Burn’s PBS Country Music Documentary. Posner formed her project ‘Abby and The Myth’ in 2015 and they have taken LA by storm with their catchy indie folk songs. The band released their EP Ghosts and Frames April - 2015 and have been touring nationally. They have had several residencies at the famous Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, and in 2017 released a new full length record titled When You Dig A Well.
