In this episode of Prisoners of Rock and Roll, we're diving into 1976 – that wild year where America turned 200 with fireworks, flags, and music exploding everywhere. It is also the year where Ryan and I were born. And the music world celebrated us joining the party by releasing Hotel California from the Eagles, Stevie Wonder's Songs in the Key of Life, and Boston's Debut Album. David Bowie was The Thin White Duke. Disco was taking over the dance floors, while the Sex Pistols, Ramones, and The Clash were just getting started underground. There's plenty of great stuff to listen to, and debate so let's hit it. Episode Playlist Check out our episode playlist here. Hello Listeners! In this episode, we had the opportunity to have a conversation with Luke ChiangLuke Chiang is rising Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter. Luke Chiang now releases his long-awaited album 'TYPHOON'. The album marks a defining moment in Luke's journey, one shaped by loss, resilience, and a determined comeback after a vocal condition temporarily took away his ability to sing. The album's origins trace back to a difficult chapter in Luke's life. Six years ago, shortly after a visit to Taiwan during typhoon season, he lost his ability to sing due to a vocal condition that forced him into an extended hiatus. While the storm itself was not the cause, the timing became symbolic of the emotional turbulence that followed, marking the beginning of a bleak period when Luke was unable to do what he loved. With 'TYPHOON', Luke Chiang delivers his most personal and fully realised work to date, solidifying a career defined by patience, authenticity, and emotional connection.Listen full episode on Bingkai Suara with Zoey and don't forget to follow our podcast on any podcast platforms, our Instagram Bingkai Karya, and stay updated with our recent news on www.bingkaikarya.com

This week, Frank and I are excited to bring you yet another in our "Best Debut Albums" series--The Cars from 1978. Next week, we'll begin the month of March with another Best Debut Albums- Toto!
The day this episode of Roots Music Rambler drops, so does a new album from virtual newcomer to the music scene, Trey Hedrick. But don't let the debut album and baby-faced Hedrick fool you: This guy can write songs and play like you wouldn't believe. In fact, Hedrick is a rare guest on Roots Music Rambler: Generally unproven with just a few social media followers more than the average bar band. But he's got two things going for him that convinced us he's well on his way to becoming the next big thing: He's spent a few years touring and playing with other musicians many people couldn't keep up with; And, his team sent us the album raw masters early to hear the whole thing. It's good, y'all. Very good. We sat down with Trey back in the fall, well ahead of the album being finished. In fact, you'll be able to tell from the conversation that we didn't even know the name of the record (Sing, Appalachia) or the release date (today, Feb. 20, 2026) when we interviewed him. But we found, and you will discover, Trey has the mindset and maturity few first-album artists ever do. Hedrick grew up on a cattle farm in Southeast Ohio in a family peppered with seasoned musical talent. He's played guitar and mandolin since he can remember and told us his grandmother would call the grandkids in on a hot day and ask them to play songs for her. (Sneaky way of getting them to cool off.) Hedtrick cut his professional teeth in the Athens, Ohio, music scene and sent some acoustic demos of a few songs to Nashville producer Sean Sullivan, who has worked with Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, John Prine and others. Sullivan liked the demos and the two went into the studio and cut the record at the Tractor Shed last summer. Hedrick's storytelling stems from his upbringing in a proud, working-class family. Almost all the men in his family have ties to the coal mines, too, so he's as Appalachian as they come. Our first impression of his songs was that he reminded us of a young Ricky Skaggs. We think you'll agree. Also in this episode, Frank and Falls chat about a previous guest's plans for new music this year and share our Pickin' the Grinnin' picks for the week. Frank called out Swedish rockers Sabaton. Falls recommended Damn Tall Buildings, whom we interviewed in Episode 66. Trey Hedrick's interview fell before the Damn Tall Buildings one, but we saved it for debut day! Known for her ability to transform vulnerability into vivid imagery, PYC writes songs about love, longing, and human connection through relatable narratives and sensory metaphors.PYC has officially introduced her debut album, “taste,” an inaugural project that explores love not just as a feeling, but as a sensory experience. “taste” captures the full emotional arc of a relationship—from the initial spark of desire to the lingering aftertaste. “taste” is an album about the many flavors of love: the sweetness that draws you in, the cravings that are hard to resist, and the memories that never truly fade. Welcome to your daily comedy podcast, where absolutely nothing makes sense and we like it that way.Today's show kicks off with a story that nobody asked for but everyone will remember forever: a 73-year-old former born-again Christian reinventing herself as an escort named Busty Granny. She spent decades in prayer and celibacy, then hit 57, downloaded the internet, and said “oh… THIS is what we've been missing.” Now she's got clients young enough to still have homework and zero interest in OnlyFans because, quote, that sounds boring. Inspirational? Traumatizing? Both. Then we get into the most depressing career math of all time: a woman casually sings seven words into her phone for a Dr Pepper jingle and walks away with $2 million, while the rest of us are out here working full-time jobs and eating gas-station sandwiches. Naturally, this leads to the crew trying to invent jingles for every brand that will absolutely never call back.Somehow that spirals into one of the most fun debates we've had in a while — the biggest debut albums of all time. We're talking massive numbers, MTV miracles, and how one 4am spin turned a “failed” album into a 50-million-copy monster. Along the way we argue, forget basic facts, remember them loudly, and realize radio used to be way more powerful than TikTok will ever admit.Movies get dragged (respectfully… mostly), Brendan Fraser gets the comeback love he deserves, and we debate whether seeing a movie in a theater automatically adds two letter grades just because popcorn exists. In Crap on Celebrities, we hit everything from band lawsuits and surprise documentaries to tour dropouts, concert ticket chaos, and some genuinely heartbreaking but honest conversations about aging, memory, and how terrifying it is to not know what's happening inside your own brain. We also celebrate birthdays, overshare existential dread, and somehow end the show discussing a literal geyser of poop water blasting into the Potomac River — because if we're going to spiral, we're doing it together. It's another daily comedy podcast episode packed with weird news, pop culture, dark laughs, and moments where we all pause and go, “Wait… are we okay?”Spoiler: probably not. But at least we're funny.MUSICMotley Crue has officially won its heated legal battle against former guitarist Mick Mars. Lainey Wilson sure has kept herself busy. It was just announced that Netflix has officially acquired the new documentary "Lainey Wilson: Keepin' Country Cool". It drops on April 22nd. Two more artists have dropped out of the 2026 Rock the Country Festival. Morgan Wade and Carter Faith are no longer part of the lineup. And neither artist has shared an official reason for stepping away. Their exit comes just days after Ludacris also dropped out. His team called his original booking a "mix-up." The festival is headlined by Kid Rock and will feature Jason Aldean, Jelly Roll, Miranda Lambert, and more.In other Kid Rock News – he went to Congress to confront an issue we're all united on: How much Ticketmaster and Live Nation charge for shows. Quick Hits:Post Malone, Andrew Watt, Chad Smith, Duff McKagan, and Slash will perform a special tribute to Ozzy Osbourne during the Grammys on Sunday night.Jack White posted a video showing off the next Third Man Vault package, Jimi Hendrix's Valley of the Jams 1969-1970. Check it out on Instagram.Tom Morello and Rise Against will headline A Concert of Solidarity & Resistance to Defend Minnesota Friday at noon at First Avenue in Minneapolis. TVThe fourth season of Ted Lasso is set to debut this summer. Stephen Colbert announced on "Late Night With Seth Meyers" that the final episode of "The Late Show" will air on Thursday, May 21. MOVING ON INTO MOVIE NEWS:Matthew Lillard recently caught a stray from Quentin Tarantino when he said he didn't care for him. But that resulted in an outpouring of love that made Matthew feel like he was living through his own wake. Actress and producer Patricia Schneider has filed for divorce from Rob Schneider, describing their 15-year marriage as "irretrievably broken" with no chance of reconciliation. Bill Cosby has admitted under oath that he obtained prescriptions for Quaaludes specifically to give to women. Bruce Willis' wife, Emma says Bruce is unaware of his frontotemporal dementia diagnosis.AND FINALLYHere are five of the BEST:1. Jack Black: "I was begging my boss for an extra shift, he overheard and tipped me $100 on a $20ish tab. From then on, he never left me less than a $50 tip and would always check in with me when it was the end of the month to make sure I had rent cash."2. Harrison Ford: "My uncle said that he's incredibly nice and took the whole crew out for lunch to thank them for working on his helicopter."3. Justin Bieber: "He was by himself at a mall, and he wasn't trying to be incognito . . . He drew me in with a big hug and chatted me up. He was lovely."4. John Travolta: "The guy is totally down to earth . . . He is also someone who asks a lot of questions and is actually interested in what you have to say."5. Dolly Parton: "Can confirm that she's just as great as you'd assume. She was just so nice to everyone. She was a lot smaller than I expected."Here are five of the WORST:1. Jennifer Lopez: "She was super rude and dismissive . . . and had this attitude that she was better than you."2. Jenna Fischer from "The Office": "[She] was really difficult to work with. Just really demanding."3. Jared Leto: "[He's] a narcissistic [A-hole]. He complains about every single thing and really enjoys being difficult. I think he does it for fun."4. Diana Ross: "[She] cut in front of me at the airport check-in counter once . . . I was flabbergasted by this lady who had the guts to sweep in front of us AND touch the gate agent's computer."5. John Cusack: "Outside of a restaurant: 'Hey, Mr. Cusack, I like your movies.' . . . 'I don't care.'"AND THAT IS YOUR CRAP ON CELEBRITIES! The Jay Franze Show: Your backstage pass to the entertainment industry
A list can be a time machine. We kick off by diving into 35 Southern rock songs that didn't just top bar jukeboxes—they built a genre's backbone. Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, ZZ Top, 38 Special, and more set the rules on groove, grit, and guitar heroics, and we ask the hard question: who shaped the sound versus who reflected it back? That sparks a bigger conversation about authenticity and the future of music as an AI-generated act climbs a country chart. Are we celebrating craft or sidelining it? We draw clear lines—AI is a powerful tool for arrangements, virtual players, and sonic polish, but the human heart should stay at the center for lyrics and lead vocals. Think drum machines and MIDI as useful tools, not replacements. Maybe it's time for new categories—Produced With AI or Best AI-Directed Track—so innovation and integrity can coexist. We also run a listener-fueled bracket to crown the best debut album. Expect fireworks as Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Van Halen, Guns N' Roses, Alanis Morissette, and Boston square off. The final verdict celebrates a debut that fused tone, engineering genius, and melody into a once-in-a-generation statement. Between segments, we spotlight CMA milestones, a nostalgic holiday collab with a modern twist, and a fresh wave of tours worth bookmarking.Your mailbag powers the craft deep dive: the loudness war and why streaming normalization brings back dynamics, how modern records get built across big studios and home rigs, and the most common rookie mistake (spoiler: it's not a bad mic). We make space for strong takes, small details, and the stuff that actually helps artists grow. If you care about songs that breathe, vocals that risk something, and communities that talk back, you'll feel right at home.Episode LinksAI Experiment: https://jayfranze.com/experiment/Scotty Simpson: https://jayfranze.com/episode3/Jim Cristaldi: https://jayfranze.com/episode27/Billie Jo Jones: https://jayfranze.com/episode98/Dalila Mya: https://jayfranze.com/episode102/Mark Badolato: Send us a text Support the showLinks Jay Franze: https://jayfranze.com/ JFS Country Countdown: https://jayfranze.com/countdown/ Contact Contact: https://jayfranze.com/contact/ Socials Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/jayfranze TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@jayfranze X: https://x.com/jayfranze YouTube: https://youtube.com/@jayfranze Services Services: https://jayfranze.com/services/ Books Books: https://jayfranze.com/books/ Merchandise Merchandise: https://jayfranze.com/merchandise/ Support Support: https://jayfranze.com/support/ Sponsor the Show: https://jayfranze.com/sponsor/

In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by Pearce Macca — frontman of Birmingham indie-rockers The Clause, a band whose rise has become one of the most inspiring new stories in modern British guitar music. The Clause have just unveiled their long-awaited debut album Victim of a Casual Thing — a record built on pure graft, unshakable friendship, and more than a decade of refusing to give in. What started in a cramped school practice room in 2011 — with Pearce Macca, Jonny Fyffe and Niall Fennell learning their favourite songs before Liam Deakin completed the line-up — has grown into a band with a fiercely loyal fanbase and a reputation for electrifying live shows. Pearce looks back on the full journey: the teenage beginnings, the countless setbacks, the near-misses, the belief that kept them going, and the breakthrough moments that finally pushed the band to album one. He reflects on the stories they've lived together — the wins, the losses, the friendships, the heartbreaks — and how those experiences became the emotional engine of Victim of a Casual Thing. We also dive into The Clause's rise on the live circuit, from sweatbox early gigs to lighting up festival crowds at Radio 1's Big Weekend, Isle of Wight, Truck, Tramlines, and Rock 'n' Roll Circus. And Pierce takes us inside the making of the album itself — the sound that defines The Clause, the writing and recording process, and why this record feels less like a finish line and more like the start of the real story. Born from MTV's Making the Band, Danity Kane could've been just another short-lived reality TV group - but their 2006 self-titled debut proved they were much more than a pop experiment. In this episode, Chris and Chantel Nicole revisit the Danity Kane album to see if it truly ranks among the best reality show-born releases. We dive into the vocals, production, and standout tracks like "Show Stopper", "Ride for You", and "Sleep On It", and explore why this album still holds up nearly two decades later. With sleek R&B-pop, tight harmonies, and actual artistic direction (yes, even with Diddy in the mix), did Danity Kane deliver one of the strongest girl group debuts of the 2000s?Reaction to the Untold Chapter Tour Announcement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKW3Vohuc0wJoin us on Patreon!: https://www.patreon.com/CCTVPOPSFollow us on social media: https://linktr.ee/cctvpops0:00 - Intro3:39 - "Danity Kane" Album Info4:49 - Album Cover8:15 - "One Shot"12:33 - "Heartbreaker"17:08 - "Want It"22:43 - "Right Now"29:09 - "Show Stopper"37:58 - "Hold Me Down"43:38 - "Come Over (Interlude)"46:45 - "Ooh Ahh"50:04 - "Press Pause"53:40 - "Ain't True (Interlude)"55:33 - "Ride For You"1:04:27 - "Touching My Body"1:08:51 - "Back Up"1:13:13 - "Stay With Me"1:18:54 - "Sleep On It"1:23:43 - Cut or Keep1:26:07 - Overall Thoughts & Final RatingReferences:“One Shot” Live at Making the Band 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbdiLa2ecNg&pp=ygUUZGFuaXR5IGthbmUgb25lIHNob3TSBwkJAwoBhyohjO8%3Dc “Want It” Live at Making the Band 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wklK4qeuoYU&pp=ygUTZGFuaXR5IGthbmUgd2FudCBpdA%3D%3D “Right Now” Live at Making the Band 3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gmyiscXrb8&pp=ygUVZGFuaXR5IGthbmUgcmlnaHQgbm93“Show Stopper” feat. In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by ALKY — the Dublin-born indie-rock artist and former Emmy-nominated audio engineer whose raw, heartfelt songwriting is making serious waves across Ireland's indie scene. From his breakout singles "Dirty Tricks," "All Because of Love," "Perfect," and "How Do You?" to sold-out shows at Whelan's and The Workman's Club, ALKY has built a growing reputation for pairing widescreen anthems with brutally honest storytelling. Now, he's stepping into a defining new chapter with the release of his debut album Rinse & Repeat, a powerful exploration of addiction, love, and the endless cycles we fight to escape. In our conversation, ALKY talks about the messy truth behind his lyrics, his transition from studio engineer to full-time artist, and how facing his own patterns of self-destruction became the creative spark for the record. He opens up about sobriety, resilience, and why imperfection — both in music and in life — can be the most honest sound of all. We also dive into the making of standout tracks "All Because of Love," "How Do You?," "Perfect," and "Dirty Tricks," his experience coming up through Dublin's live circuit, and how Rinse & Repeat became a cathartic statement on falling, getting back up, and finding meaning in repetition. "I noticed I kept falling into the same destructive behaviours — the same chaos regarding alcohol and my relationship choices. Rinse & Repeat is a reflection of that cycle and putting it into songs." – ALKY Listen to ALKY discuss the making of his debut album Rinse & Repeat, addiction, love, and finding strength in repetition on the XS Noize Podcast. Vincent Mason stops by the studio with some of the craziest road stories Bobby’s heard in a while. He shares the wild story of his van losing a tire while going 70 mph, plus the time they hit a black bear and a hawk on back-to-back days out on the road. Vincent talks about what he actually spends his money on, the real difference between grinding it out in a van versus finally leveling up to a bus, and how all of that changes the way you see success. He also tells Bobby about all the times he spotted Bobby’s doppelganger at the gym, and why Bobby was convinced this interview would only go 30 minutes… before it turned into a full hour conversation.Check Vincent out on tour: VincentMasonMusic.com Check out his Debut Album: ‘There I Go’ which is OUT NOW!
