Once again - not a food, but wood is absolutely essential in the quest for edibles in the 17th century. Wood was necessary to grow food, harvest food, process food, cook food, store food, and transport it to market. And there were lots of trees used in lots of different ways. A few provided edibles - fruits and nuts, sweet sap and medicinal bark, but for the most part, trees provided the infrastructure required to get food on the board. I will lists trees like Harlan Pepper lists nuts. Welcome back to the Dog House! This week we have guests visiting from the prestigious Mayflower Dog show, and let me say, they are certainly up there on the patented Woof-O-Meter. We learned a lot from this movie. Some stuff about dogs.. A lot about nuts from Harlan Pepper.. And most important of all, how best to commentate on literally anything from Fred Willard. Thanks for stopping by!
Annaliese and Carlin discuss two of the Christopher Guest-directed mockumentaries: Best in Show and A Mighty Wind. Also, Harlan Pepper better stop naming nuts.

Live music, new music, and some rockin’ classics from the 90s. Huh? It’ll make sense if you listen. I think.

Happy 14th day of spring -- day 8 or so of my cold, if you're counting. :-) With spring comes new CD releases and lots of tours, so you'll hear everything from Harlan Pepper to Soweto Gospel Choir tonight. For another edition of "Val's Vinyl Vault" I pulled out the Peter Case self-titled lp from 1986. He'll be playing a tiny club in Bellingham this weekend. The phone interview near top of show was with Nelson, BC singer-songwriter James Lamb. He's in town for the Verses Festival of Words that continues this week. Thanks as always for listening! Your feedback is much appreciated, so don't hesitate to get in touch. Even just to say hi.cheers, valfolkoasis@gmail.com
