The Giants can chase Kenny Moore as a veteran defensive back who could help a secondary with real question marks, but the sacrifice is obvious: if he wanted out of Indianapolis because of man coverage, New York may be looking at a player who does not match what this defense wants to be. Is adding talent worth it if the fit might be wrong from the start?Follow the show on Spotify and leave a 5-star rating and review on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy the Giants debates, roster breakdowns, and no-BS fan reactions.Drew breaks down the Giants cutting four players before rookie minicamp: Elijah Chatman, Swayze Bozeman, Courtney Jackson, and Marlon Tuipulotu. The moves are not shocking, but they do matter as the roster starts making room for draft picks, undrafted rookies, tryout players, and the next wave of offseason competition. Chatman had become a fan favorite because of his effort, but the Giants have added more proven defensive line bodies. Bozeman was mainly a special teams piece, Jackson was buried in the wide receiver room, and Tuipulotu was another defensive line depth option in a crowded group.Rookie minicamp also gets discussed, with the reminder that this is the time of year where hype can get out of control fast. Drew talks about which young players actually matter more when camp reports start coming out, including Arvell Reese, C.C. Maunoa, Colton Hood, and Malachi Fields, while warning Giants fans not to overreact to every undrafted rookie headline.Jameis Winston also somehow becomes part of the show after being named a FOX Sports correspondent for the FIFA World Cup. Drew may not be a soccer guy, but Jameis with a microphone is almost guaranteed to produce clips worth watching. That leads to a classic Goofballs detour into Best in Show, Fred Willard, Stifler's mom, and why Winston might have a long media career once football is done. The main debate centers on Kenny Moore after the Colts cut the former Pro Bowl corner. Moore is 30 years old, has years of production, can play mostly in the slot, has taken some outside and safety snaps, and still brings impressive run-defense value for a smaller defensive back. The argument for the Giants is simple: the secondary needs help, and Moore's versatility could give them another veteran option in a room with Paulson Adebo, Deonte Banks, Colton Hood, Greg Newsome, Drew Phillips, Javon Holland, and Tyler Nubin all carrying different levels of uncertainty. But the concern is just as real. If Moore's issue in Indianapolis was tied to Lou Anarumo's man-coverage scheme, then why would he be a clean fit for a Giants defense expected to play plenty of press-man coverage? Drew walks through both sides: maybe the Giants could sell him on a bigger role as a slot/safety hybrid, or maybe the scheme fit makes the whole thing a bad idea before it even starts. The bottom line is that the Giants should at least have the conversation. The episode closes with live chat questions on the Giants' run defense, whether the new defensive line room can make up for losing Dexter Lawrence, Arvell Reese and Tremaine Edmunds changing the linebacker picture, Ladarius Sneed, Christian Wilkins, Kevin Zeitler, Evan Neal's roster chances, John Michael Schmitz, and which players might benefit most from the new coaching staff.Question for Giants fans: would you take a shot on Kenny Moore, or stay away if the man-coverage concern is real?Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsAll episodes: https://2giantgoofbalSend us Fan MailSupport the show
Why is someone reminded of Fred Willard when listening to Dave now?
Nothing may ever happen on Mars, but back in 1996, a lot was going on in the fictional town of Blaine, Missouri. Christopher Guest wrote and directed the mockumentary, Waiting for Guffman. Featuring the talents of the Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, Parker Posey, and Fred Willard, the movie made it on over 40 major critics' Ten Best lists for the year. But now, decades later, must the show on? Is Corky St. Clair's wife, Bonnie, truly happy? And why on earth was this rated R? The Old Roommates grab a front row seat and give this cult classic a revisit through their middle-aged lens. Grab a Blizzard from Dairy Queen and join them.Follow Old Roommates on social media @OldRoommates for bonus content and please give us a rating or review!#ChristopherGuest #EugeneLevy #CatherineOHara #ParkerPosey #FredWillard
Con man meets Stargate Command — and nearly wins. Lisa Jones, Jeff Haecker, and Victor Lams unpack Vala's complicated father-daughter story, Fred Willard's ad-libbed genius, and SG-1's sly farewell jabs at its own cancellation. The post Family Ties (SG1) appeared first on StarQuest Media.
Christopher Guest's second time in the director's chair involved him putting on a dog show. Co-written with Eugene Levy, this fake documentary about the people getting their pooches ready for the prestigious Mayflower Dog Show (and then the show itself) stars Michael McKean, Catherine O'Hara, Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, John Michael Higgins, Michael Hitchcock and Jennifer Coolidge. And loads of dogs. Will Mick, Hannah and Jen give it a blue rosette or send it home with its tail between its legs? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In honor of the late great Catherine O'Hara we break down the audition scene in 1996's Waiting For Guffman. Starring Christopher Guest, Eugene Levy and the late Fred Willard. We discuss how hilarious this scene is and the importance of Guest's mockumentaries had on the comedy of the 90s and beyond. Great scene and conversation. Enjoy!
A cult classic, Waiting for Guffman is a mockumentary chronicling a small community theatre's production of its town's history. Boasting a host of exceptional improv actors — Catherine O'Hara, Eugene Levy, and Fred Willard to name a few — the Christopher Guest written and directed feature is jam packed with laughs. Guest, who also serves as the films lead Corky St. Clair, is in his comfort zone here. He gets the material, letting the actors take command and playing to their immense comedic strengths. Although it is beloved now, Waiting for Guffman was not a huge hit. In fact, it barely made it to the big screen. Its critical success, however, did lead to several more films in the same vein — Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration. All of which are worth watching, as well. So, sit back, calm those jitters with a Fear.Movie.Lions Hazy Double IPA, and break a leg! The Thunderous Wizard, Chumpzilla, and Bling Blake are done working for these bastard people! This week, Shat The Movies kicks off our annual Spooktacular with a bloody, bong-ripped bang as we revisit 1999's Idle Hands — the stoner-horror-comedy hybrid where Devon Sawa's right hand goes full demonic and Seth Green proves that death can't stop a good hang. Commissioned by listener Christopher, this Halloween starter brings everything you'd expect from the late '90s: MTV aesthetics, a killer soundtrack, Jessica Alba's scooter, and enough weed jokes to make even Scary Movie blush. But does Idle Hands still hit, or is it just a high school fever dream of Doritos dust and Hot Topic energy? Gene and Big D dig into the film's Columbine-cursed box office fate and confess which '90s music videos helped shape their teenage “spooky season.” Along the way, we get a Fred Willard appreciation moment, a detour into Buffy fandom, and the single weirdest tangent about grasshoppers ever recorded on this podcast. Is Idle Hands an underrated Halloween gem that deserves a second life—or just proof that the devil really does find work for idle bros? Either way, the Spooktacular has begun. Movie Plot:A lazy stoner's hand gets possessed and goes on a killing spree, murdering his parents, friends, and half the Halloween dance. Now Anton, his undead buddies, and a demon-hunting priestess must stop the disembodied hand before it drags his girlfriend to Hell. He was the king of clueless confidence, the man who could steal a scene with just a raised eyebrow. Fred Willard built a decades-long career out of playing the guy who had no idea what was going on — and making sure everyone was crying laughing while he did it. From his improv roots and his unforgettable mockumentary turns in Best in Show, Waiting for Guffman, and A Mighty Wind to late-career gems on Modern Family and Anchorman, Willard never stopped delivering. But behind the laughs was a performer who hustled for decades, weathered personal scandals, and kept working until the very end. This episode dives into the triumphs, stumbles, and lasting brilliance of Fred Willard — a man who proved that being totally clueless could be an art form.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Grab your stools and head on down to the Dairy Queen as we reach for our hometown slice of fame with Christopher Guest's Waiting for Guffman. Is this the most realistic depiction of local theater dynamics ever committed to film? Can we please make Catherine O'Hara Queen of Improv already? How did Bob Balaban find a symphony-level orchestra for this small town production? And did Parker Posey's Libby Mae Brown “Just do the cones” so her Victoria Ratliff could “Piper, Noooooo”? The one thing we can all agree on is that this movie is flawless and Corky St Clair is a genius.

On this episode of the world's greatest Steve Buscemi-themed podcast, we're taking a look at the odd coming-of-age nightmare comedy YOUTH IN REVOLT from 2009 where Michael Cera creates a sociopathic version of himself in order to impress a young woman he meets at a trailer park. Stuffed with great character actors (Jean Smart, Justin Long, Fred Willard, Mary Kay Place, M. Emmett Walsh), its episodic format takes some getting used to, but it's much more interesting - and stranger - than the marketing would have you believe. Also, Steve Buscemi is in it (as Michael Cera's father!). All of this and the latest Buscemi news, and all for FREE! You can't pass up that deal. The post Episode 263 – How Do You Do, Fellow Kids? – Youth in Revolt (2009) first appeared on Cinema Smorgasbord.

The Not Ready for Prime Time Podcast: The Early Years of SNL
How does Saturday Night Live follow up The Rolling Stones as host? With Muhammad Ali, of course. And when that doesn't pan out and they go with... Fred Willard! Fresh from his acclaimed run on Fernwood 2 Night and America 2-Night, Willard brings his unique comic energy to an episode that has many recurring characters (including the return of Mr. Bill) as well as a second half that takes some truly unexpected turns. And speaking of following tough acts, Devo is the musical guest and boldly covers "Satisfaction" - transforming the Stones' classic into something entirely their own (and possibly sounding better than the band last week). This is easily one of the most interesting SNL episodes of the era and was definitely one of the most fun to talk about. Are Hollywood's youngest stars in any less danger now than those of past eras? We pose this question to Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman's Claudia Lamb. At age 11 she was cast as Mary's daughter Heather Hartman in the groundbreaking Norman Lear soap parody. Claudia offers a front row view to her traumatic life as a 70s child star, at the mercy of her abusive parents and insight into how she gnawed through their shackles to pursue a radio journalism career and become a champion for today's child actors.Claudia was a gourmet meal ticket to her criminally exploitative parents who squandered all her money as she cranked out hundreds of commercials and print ads as a toddler who was shoved into the spotlight and dragged by her angry and brutal mother to audition after audition.Claudia candidly conveys the extent of the violence and terror inflicted by her narcissistically cruel mother as Claudia's labor, throughout her childhood supported the entire family while alienating her five brothers. Her talent and intelligence branded her as a go-to for commercial producers, where, as a stand-by, she frequently replaced the principal. Then at the age of 11, after being pummeled by her mother for a poor math grade, (working kids needed to keep their grades above a C average) Claudia was dragged to a cattle-call populated by every chubby, frizzy haired 13 year old in Hollywood. Claudia, a scrawny, pigtailed 11 year old nailed the reading and was instantly cast as Heather Hartman where she treasured her three years on the set of Norman Lear's outrageous, unprecedented soap satire.Claudia tells of marathon filming sessions, (five episodes a week) with no cue cards or teleprompters. (Louise Lasser would scribble her lines on the kitchen table!) She celebrates the immense talents of Mary Kay Place, Martin Mull and Fred Willard, and shares fabulous anecdotes about Donny and Jimmy Osmond (The Donny & Marie Show filmed next door) and how Claudia was nearly crushed by a mob of fans who spotted her chatting up some Osmonds and jumped a fence to get in on that action.Claudia is frank in her assessment of the adults who let her down as she endured her mother's abuse. Her bruises were in clear view of the wardrobe department. At the age of 18, Claudia put Hollywood in her rear view and became an award winning journalist who now speaks to parents about the reality and dangers posed to children by show business.Weezy offers a supporting view, recommending Demi Lovato's new documentary on Hulu and Disney + called Child Star. Fritz is captivated by the Hulu series adaptation of Patrick Radden Keefe's best-seller about “The Troubles” in Ireland, Say Nothing. And Claudia weighs in on recs with a doc called Casa Bonita Mi Amor on Paramount +.Path Points of Interest:Claudia Lamb on IMDBClaudia Lamb on WikipediaClaudia's BlogClaudia Lamb on BlueskyClaudia Lamb on Twitter/XClaudia Lamb on InstagramChild Star on Hulu and Disney+Say Nothing on HuluCasa Bonita Mi Amor

Will Ferrell starts as the titular Ron Burgundy, a popular San Diego news anchor in the mid '70's who sees his world turned upside down when his station eventually hires a woman(!) to be a potential co-anchor on his news program. Her name is Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), she's excellent at her job, they start dating, they fall in love.....and complications result. This satirical comedy was directed by Adam McKay (Don't Look Up, Talladega Nights) and features a pretty stacked cast of gifted comedic actors including Paul Rudd, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Kathryn Hahn, and Fred Willard. It was released twenty years this month and would end up being one of the more quoted comedies of the 21st Century. Let's find out if how it still holds up....Stay Classy, San Diego!Host: Geoff GershonEdited By Ella GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a Text Message.https://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
The Lost Colony is the #4 listener favorite of 443 episodes through 9 years of 1001 Heroes. "The Lost Colony PT II: FOUND!" Tells the incredible story of what happened to the people of Roanoke Island after they abandoned their fort. With interviews and some digging we can see that they were moved to a different location where they were protected from hostile tribes, and over time blended into to Lumbee Indian tribe, which still carries many of their surnames in the area of Lumberton, N.C. This story includes an in-person interview with Fred and Katherine Willard, who served as directors of the Lost colony Center for Science and Research, and who, through tireless research, have uncovered the truth of what happened to most of 115 brave souls whose dream of a new life in the New World got turned upside down when the rescue ships never came. Fred Willard passed not long after our interview in 2017.RIP. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
