In episode 273 of The Just Checking In Podcast we turned the tables as our Founder Freddie Cocker was interviewed by his best friend of 28 years and previous guest, James Lamb who came on in JCIP #50. Over the years, Freddie has been interviewed by another close friend Lloyd Taylor twice, in JCIP #10 and JCIP #135 respectively. His old friend and work colleague Connor Smart then wanted to try his hand at it in JCIP #144. Now we arrive at the moment where James is conducting his first solo interview. In this episode we discuss the last two years of Freddie's mental health journey, in which a LOT has happened. This includes: two operations, multiple mental health breakdowns, another repressed sexual assault to address, an autism diagnosis, group therapy, more CBT therapy, some rewind therapy and much more! James will take you through those two years, the many downs but also the ups and how Freddie has come out the other side of all of it. True to form, he brings his 100% honesty and dark sense of humour to these events, as difficult as they were for him. This week on the podcast, Zach Kazan, Kat Shoulders, and Ricardo Sime jump on the mic to talk about some of their recent watch acquisitions, and what those pickups might mean (or not mean) for their collections in 2024. Ricardo finally added a GMT to his collection in late 2023 after a long search, Kat picked up a new limited edition Fears (one of her favorite brands), and Zach bought a James Lamb after his usual long period of deliberation. In this conversation, they each talk about what led them to each of their new watches, and how those watches fit into their collecting goals for the upcoming year.To stay on top of all new episodes, you can subscribe to The Worn & Wound Podcast — now available on all major platforms including iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Spotify, and more. February 19, 2023 -- "Proclaim Liberty Throughout the Land" -- Rev. Dr. James Lamb , Bible Text: Leviticus 25: 8-12 8 “Count seven of these years seven times for a total of 49 years. 9 On the tenth day of the seventh month, the special day for the payment for sin, sound rams' horns throughout the country. 10 Set apart the fiftieth year as holy, and proclaim liberty to everyone living in the land. This is your jubilee year. Every slave will be freed in order to return to his property and to his family. 11 That fiftieth year will be your jubilee year. Don't plant or harvest what grows by itself or pick grapes from the vines in the land. 12 The jubilee ⌞year⌟ will be holy to you. You will eat what the field itself produces. James Lamb 9 - 9-22 Who The Death Of The Queen Changes The News Cycle A Bit
Our guest for the first episode of Season 6 is James Lamb, a British watchmaker and Member of the British Horological Institute. Join us as we discover James Lamb Watches and the release of The Origin series, James' first collection of individually created handmade watches. The Elements (Earth, Air, Fire and Water) provide the inspiration and theme to be explored in the four pieces that make up the collection. James brings the watches to life for us in an engaging conversation that is focused on the methods used by James in the creation of the new pieces. We discuss the beautiful art of forging and forming Argentium watch cases, largely by traditional methods, with each piece being individual and full of character. We explore the methods used for each of the unique dials and the techniques such as cloisonné enamel that capture the essence of the elemental inspirations. James Lamb is a craftsman seeking to gain mastery of all aspects of watchmaking. Our conversation is engaging and natural with tremendous insight into the many dimensions that encompass the art of traditional horology. Like a personal gallery tour by the artist, James brings his works to life with eloquent illumination as he invites us to join him on his personal quest to attain creative freedom. As always, this episode is a free-flowing conversation with minimal editing. Jeremy Oster is your host along with co-host, Doug Hoyt. MLOps Coffee Sessions #69 with James Lamb, Building for Small Data Science Teams co-hosted by Adam Sroka. // Abstract In this conversation, James shares some hard-won lessons on how to effectively use technology to create applications powered by machine learning models. James also talks about how making the "right" architecture decisions is as much about org structure and hiring plans as it is about technological features. // Bio James Lamb is a machine learning engineer at SpotHero, a Chicago-based parking marketplace company. He is a maintainer of LightGBM, a popular machine learning framework from Microsoft Research, and has made many contributions to other open-source data science projects, including XGBoost and prefect. Prior to joining SpotHero, he worked on a managed Dask + Jupyter + Prefect service at Saturn Cloud and as an Industrial IoT Data Scientist at AWS and Uptake. Outside of work, he enjoys going to hip hop shows, watching the Celtics / Red Sox, and watching reality TV (he wouldn't object to being called “Bravo Trash”). // Relevant Links James keeps track of conference and meetup talks he has given at https://github.com/jameslamb/talks#gallery. Today we talk to James Lamb, a British independent watchmaker who has taken a decidedly (and deliberately) old-school approach to his debut Origin series. While it's easy to be wowed by the four enamel dials (each inspired by one of the four elements), take a minute to appreciate the amount of skill and care that goes into handcrafting each case from a bar of Argentium silver — from the lathe-work to the soldering and the final polishing, all of it is 100 per cent Lamb. Beyond the watch itself, we find out how Lamb went about creating his watch and went against the grain of feeling the need to polish every screw and bridge, instead focusing his skill and effort on the details that really make his watches stand out. Before all that, Andy and Felix accidentally chat about a bunch of blue watches from Blancpain, Tudor and Nomos. This episode is brought to you by NOMOS Glashütte. Today we chat about the Nomos Club Sport neomatik 42 date blue, an all-terrain Club on a brand new bracelet. Check it out here. Want to be part of the OT: The Podcast community? Join our Discord! Phil is the co-founder of the podcast along with best friend of our Founder Freddie Cocker and special guest on JCIP #50, James Lamb. James and Phil met whilst they were both studying at The University of South Carolina. In this episode we discuss how the pair met, their relationship and how the podcast has strengthened Phil's presentation skills in the workplace. We also discuss Phil's experience of living with ADHD from an early age. On the spectrum of ADHD, Phil says his ADHD was not as severe as other people who live with the neurological condition. He did need to go on medication for it but he says the ADHD has never held him back in life. We also talk about Phil's weight loss journey and his desire to become a healthier and better version of himself. We discuss how his friends teasing of him when he was tempted to stray from the path helped him achieve his goals, why he found that to be a positive thing for him and how that weight loss has improved his self-esteem and physical health. In this, the latest episode of ‘The Beauty Edit’ podcast from TheIndustry.fashion, Antony Hawman speaks to James Lamb, CEO of Zelens, the high performance skincare brand based on scientific evidence and active ingredients with clinical proven efficacy. We caught up at a super busy and exciting time when Lamb was in the middle of plans to take the brand though its relaunch, which has been labour of love for the Zelens team.In his 20 year career, James has worked with an enviable list of brands including Clinique, Bliss, Mac, Dior, Kate Somerville and many more. James gives his view on being a CEO and how maybe not complying with the ‘text book corporate CEO style’ can really be a benefit in today’s progressive world.
When his rap group, Oops! All James broke up, James went his own way and gave up on his career for several years. After taking a long hiatus, he eventually came back and recorded this track. Lyrics: I haven't rapped in some time or touched a pen to the paper I haven't laughed, I haven't rhymed, and joy's a foreign behavior I'm strugglin' and I'm jugglin' with all the feelings in my heart I'm bundlin' up the feelings and wishin' I had a fresh start Because I'm done with all the fame and I don't wanna be a star You see I watched the biography, and feelings hit me like a car When I looked back at my life, feels like I've come so far But accomplished so little for such a large repitoire With no friends or no relations, because I tank every one I don't where Charlie's at. No idea how she's done But see I've read the reviews even the one by Nance S. I wanted to be a star but instead I lost one I guess 'Cause I had a moment with Charlotte there but we threw it all away Turned all our ups back into downs and all our colors turned to gray We tried to go back on tour but the relationships caved It just wasn't meant to be I guess. Anyway, It's toxic when she's here but I do get lonely when she's gone She reminds me of my mom, like the fighting, it makes me calm I often wonder why I always used to take the abuse I often think it gave me something to ... aspire to Or maybe it let me stand still because I know I'll never make it It's peaceful when I'm stagnant, standing still and just complacent It's hard making something of myself and not just wealth Lacking purpose, feeling aimless, feeling worthless, hollow, fameless All the kids I used rap for don't know what my name is And all the bitterness I have, it's on me and I'm not blameless I just think it's easier to point fingers back at the past and just say It's Charlie and Alison, it's my father, and it's my gang It's the violence and the deaths I experienced along the way I'm not a lost Lamb the fault was oops all James I paved the way for myself, I know, and I accept all the blame I decided to break the rules when I decided to play the game And homie I'm tired. Sleeping for months in travel takes its toll I'm like a young man's mind in an old man's soul I don't know what I'm gonna do, feel I've got nowhere to go I just wanted to share my thoughts to whoever needs to be told Don't waste your life, homie. Figure this shit out while you're young The infinite black is finite, you blink twice and it's gone And you'll look back like I have, reflecting on all that's been done Cause a busted cap can't be unbusted once it's left the fuckin gun To whoever may be listenin'. Peace y'all. In the fifth and penultimate episode of The Consent of the Governed, “The Value of Democracy,” host Carter Hanson discusses the 2011 battle between the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission and the Republican-controlled Arizona state government, and the future of independent redistricting commissions as a solution for partisan gerrymandering. From the episode: “Gerrymandering is a truly nonpartisan institution, meaning that the majority party, regardless of its ideology, nearly always tries to protect it. It is the quintessence of the refrain that power acts upon the powerful: it transforms the majority party into the gerrymandering party. Therefore, if there is to be a resolution to partisan gerrymandering, it must exist outside of the world of partisan politics.” The Consent of the Governed is hosted, produced, and written by Carter Hanson, from his homes in Boulder, Colorado, and Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Consent of the Governed is the main expression of my Kolbe Fellowship project. In the fourth episode of The Consent of the Governed, “The People Are Sovereign,” host Carter Hanson dives deep into Rucho v. Common Cause (the most recent Supreme Court ruling on gerrymandering) and breaks down the majority opinion, revealing the fallacies and misrepresentations in the majority's argument and the destructive power of Rucho. From the episode: “Gerrymandering is a crisis of democracy, hindering political evolution and realization by removing the voice of the citizen in their just representation and giving that power to a handful of partisan cartographers. What the founders intended for the redistricting process is ultimately beside the point: the truest respect given to the founders is progress, and no issue calls for substantial reform and action like partisan gerrymandering.” The Consent of the Governed is hosted, produced, and written by Carter Hanson, from his home in Boulder, Colorado. In the third episode of The Consent of the Governed, “A Workable Standard,” host Carter Hanson discusses the Hofeller files, statistical outlier analysis, and begins looking at Rucho v. Common Cause, the most recent important gerrymandering Supreme Court case. From the episode: “Statistical outlier analyses of North Carolina, similar to that of Pennsylvania, reveal extreme Republican gerrymanders. In 2014, mathematicians Jonathan Mattingly and Christy Vaughn published one such analysis, revealing that, in a sampling of 100 maps in their ensemble, in no map did Democrats receive 4 or less of North Carolina's 13 congressional seats, and Democrats averaged 7.6 Democratic seats. At the time, Democrats held only 3 congressional seats in the state.” The Consent of the Governed is hosted, produced, and written by Carter Hanson, from his home in Boulder, Colorado. In the second episode of The Consent of the Governed, host Carter Hanson discusses the 2003 Texas re-redistricting and the Democrats' legislative rebellion, the benefits and drawbacks of the efficiency gap, and the future of the efficiency gap after the Supreme Court's Gill v. Whitford ruling. From the episode: “In Bandemer v. Davis, the Supreme Court ruled that partisan gerrymandering is unconstitutional if extreme enough. Since that ruling in 1986, anti-gerrymandering advocates have been trying to prove that it is extreme enough, without much success. My response is, in the words of Wendy Tam Cho, ‘If you're never going to declare a partisan gerrymander, what is it that's unconstitutional?'” The Consent of the Governed is hosted, produced, and written by Carter Hanson, from his home in Boulder, Colorado. In the first episode of The Consent of the Governed, host Carter Hanson introduces Gerrymandering, its impact on the American political system through the past decade, REDMAP, and the history of Supreme Court Gerrymandering rulings since 1986. This episode contains explicit language. From the episode: “REDMAP worked. Republicans flipped 3 state senates and 6 state houses in 7 states by spending about $8.2 million [in 2010]. That's about as much money as was spent on a single U.S. House election, the race for the Michigan 7th district, in 2010. Republican control over redistricting in those same 7 states has netted Republicans 50 seats over the past four elections relative to their portion of the vote.” The Consent of the Governed is hosted, produced, and written by Carter Hanson, from his home in Boulder, Colorado. “It’s all about Safety” These are the famous words you’ll hear whenever a call to action needs support, usually creating laws and regulations affecting professional CMV drivers. Along with such calls for more laws will follow the lobbyisst in support, fitting their agendas. Where is the call to action for ”Michaels Law Amendment” an Amendment to 18 U.S. Code 926A proposed by James Lamb of the SBTC? The proposed amendment, would expand the existing Federal “Interstate Transportation of Firearms” statute into a right-to-carry law for all Americans engaged in interstate commerce. According to the Department of Labor, one person is MURDERED in the transportation industry EVERY WEEK! Should the NRA be supporting this? Next, CRST refers to safety also in their request for exemption at the FMCSA. According to CRST, allowing CLP holders (Commercial Learners Permit) to drive team, with little or no OTR driving experience, U.S. highways would be safer and more productive. Read CRST Exemption Request here. Comments by 2/4/16. Desiree Wood of RealWomenInTrucking did not agree and started a petition.."Stop Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration from granting unsafe exemptions for truck driver trainees" Both James Lamb and Desiree Wood will be our guests to discuss these 2 very Concerning Safety Issues affecting drivers and the nation. New Years Eve on AskTheTrucker 'Live' – 2015 Trucker Highlights and 2016 Goals with guest and Co-Host Pat Hockaday of TruckersUnited.org Thursday Dec 31st 2015 6PM ET 347-826-9170 Join the excitement this New Years Eve as we countdown the 2015 Highlights and Feature 2016 concerns and goals for the Professional CDL driver. 2015 Highlights- the Transportation Bill was passed! Among a long list of inclusions were: CSA reform, drug testing reform, detention time study, and an insurance rule study. Not included in the bill: No under 21 year old interstate truckers, or bigger/ heavier trucks, no Carrier Hiring Standards, the strike down of the Denham Amendment, which could have negatively affected CMV drivers wages. One of the most controversial episodes for 2015 was the Tracey Morgan crash, which received national publicity and opened up a can of worms for many carriers and drivers, revealing clever attempts at manipulating trucking HOS. One of the biggest victories for drivers was Kenny Capell’s victory for the Obstruction of Justice “Right to Sleep” court case, led by SBTC chairman James Lamb. The National Truck Parking Coalition was formed and has continued the task of addressing the 30 year old problem of truck parking shortages. FMCSA was busy also this 2015 as The ELD rule has become final, as was the Driver Coercion Rule. Let’s not forget “the Right to Carry”, ’Mike Law’ for CDL drivers, which would grant a national gun permit. As we move forward into 2016, there remain vital issues for drivers. Wages, HOS, Truck Parking, and ELD’s still remain high on the list of concerns. Share YOUR TOP concerns as we enter 2016 and be a part of the entry for the free FalconEye Dashcam
Sat11-14-15 6PM ET 347-826-9170 2 crucial topics-professional drivers need to be aware Mikes Law- A gun law which would allow professional drivers to have a Federal Gun Permit, which would override state reciprocity laws, thus allowing legal gun carry in all 48 states. The Denham Amendment, which was slipped in to the House of Representatives Transportation Bill and could have detrimental repercussions on the wages of Professional Drivers. Our 1st guest will be James Lamb of the Small business in Transportation Coalition (SBTC) who introduced Mikes Law in July of 2014, after the tragic death of professional driver Michael Boeglin was shot and killed while waiting to load. Mike’s Law bill for Americans working in interstate commerce, protects and promotes the Second and Fourteenth Amendment Rights of Americans working in interstate commerce, allowing them to be able to carry firearms for self protection nationwide. Our 2nd guest will be Aashish Desai of the Desai Law Firm. An attorney and advocate, Mr Desai represents thousands of truck drivers in wage disputes and will explain the repercussions of the Denham Amendment which crept into the U.S. House Transportation bill, passed Nov 4th. The Denham Amendment, introduced by Representative Jeff Denham (R-CA), legislation which could substantially reduce the amount truckers are compensated for all time.
Our opening topic for the show will be, "Does law enforcement have the right to wake up drivers while they are on their federally mandated 10 hour break? Kenny Capell will be checking in with us to share his experience. Kenny was arrested last year forObstruction of Justice while on his mandatory 10 hour break, and after nearly one year, the case was just dismissed as of Feb. 6th, 2015. Is this a victory for truckers in general as they face other challenges in maintaining HOS compliance? Join us as we review the almost year long journey, including the 'Request for ‘Pattern and Practices’ Investigation of Georgia Motor Carrier Compliance Division;Civil Application Pursuant to Title 42,U.S.C.,Section14141" by James Lamb of SBTC. If time allows, we will continue discussion on the importance of truck driver health. Do you believe that more truckers are making a stand for their health and well-being? Also, what about the continuous and ongoing surge for more regulations or the driver recruitment and retention issue? We'll try to get to this topic as well . . . It's anything "TRUCKING" on our OPEN FORUM broadcast. Why not call in and join the conversation? 347-826-9170.

The President of the Association of Independent Property Brokers and Agents (AIPBA) took a bold new step at the recent Mid-America Trucking Show toward transparency in broker-trucker relations, addressing numerous industry problems such as e-logs, driver harassment, driver pay and ethics in the transportation industry. James Lamb has introduced the Small Business in Transportation Coalition to the trucking industry, which encourages the formation of new partnerships between truckers and brokers as members of the same small business supply chain team. Mr. Lamb is stating that transparency should be voluntary and left to market forces to embrace the new paradigm. He is willing to lead by example as serving as the General Manager of the newly formed brokerage firm: 12PL, as he continues to work toward building support for small business in transportation. As President also of DOT Authority, Mr. Lamb joins us as our special guest to discuss the "New Deal" and his push for small brokers to be more transparent in their businesses with truck drivers, as well as designing the trucking coalition in order to raise driver pay and improve safety compliance.

James Lamb is President of the Association of Independent Property Brokers and Agents (AIPBA) and a former New York State Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Investigator. Included in the Highway Bill, known as MAP-21 that was passed in 2012, is the act to raise the broker bond to $75,000. James Lamb has been fighting the act since day one. Mr. Lamb submitted a 10-page exemption request to the FMCSA that would relieve all property brokers and freight forwarders from the $75,000 bond provision within the trucking industry. The FMCSA accepted comments to the request which recently ended on January 26, 2014 and the AIPBA continues its work to have the bond repealed. Will the FMCSA override the requirement in accordance with their lawful exemption authority duly granted to them by Congress? Mr. Lamb joins us as our special guest to share their accomplishments and to bring us all up-to-date on the broker bond issue.
A sermon from Rev. Dr. James Lamb, Executive director of Lutherans for Life. I preached this sermon for our observance of Life Sunday. The message is about how we as Christians "live with dying"--that is face our mortality with Christian hope and confidence, and how that guides our actions in relation to care for the elderly, ill, or disabled, as well as making decisions near the end of life.

The Fighting Fraud in Transportation Act of 2011 proposes to raise the amount of the surety bond from $10,000 to $100,000 with the reasoning being that the increase would combat against fraudulent freight broker business. Our special guest, Dan Metully of Transport Watch and co-owner of TFI Logistics, Inc., believes it will put more good brokers than bad, out of business. Also joining the conversation is James Lamb, President of the Association of Independent Property Brokers & Agents and Richard Wilson, regulatory expert with Trans Products & Trans Services. Good or bad idea? We'll debate it.
The third Sunday of Easter, April 6, 2008.Our guest this morning is the Rev. Dr. James Lamb, executive director of Lutherans for Life.
