'Twas the weekend before Halloween, and all through the house, some creatures are stirring... and they aren't a mouse... or mice... or whatever... But Jason and Shawn are back with a Halloween special designed to hit you right in your creep-out zone as they review Patrick Lussier and Todd Farmer's latest effort, Trick! Lussier and Farmer were originally tasked with crafting a sequel to Rob Zombie's two Halloween movies. That flick didn't happen, but the talented duo obviously had a Halloween-themed story to tell. Is their new movie as good as My Bloody Valentine 3D and Drive Angry? Stick with us! And stick around as The Basement Boys sound off on their Top 5 things to watch this Halloween. There's some expected flicks and TV shows on the list, and some that might surprise you. Either way, Jason and Shawn have some choice viewing ideas that might help you plan your post-trick-or-treat watch. Throw in some commentary on the latest movie trailers, a review from Mike S, plus this morning segment from the mighty Radio NL Morning News with Howie Reimer, and you've got yourself a podcast worthy of the title Halloween Spooktacular! Push play and enjoy! Oh, and Happy Halloscream!
The Basement Boys are back with a new interview that's perfect for this, the spookiest time of the year. What did you expect with Halloween two weeks away? Christmas movies? We're not Wal-Mart, you know! Jay sits down with Trista Robinson, the talented star of Echoes of Fear, which Jason and Shawn reviewed just last week. Trista is hands down one of the coolest people who's ever appeared on this show, and she and Jay talk in detail about her spooky thriller, the horror genre, and how to play scared in a movie. This is one of the best conversations in the show's nine-year history. Keeping the Halloween train rolling, Jason sets his sites on She Will Return: The Pale-Faced Lady 2. This is Jeff Payne's follow up to his celebrated horror short, which the boys tackled earlier this year. How does this creepy sequel stack up? Stick with us! And stick around for this morning's segment from the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning News with Howie Reimer, a new review from Mike S, plus some other irreverent BS (Shawn's got a few things to say about the upcoming Arrowverse crossover) that's sure to tickle any Basement Dweller's funny bone. It's a packed Basement this episode as Jason and Shawn not only interview actor Laura Slade Wiggins, star of the upcoming Along Came the Devil II, but welcome the writers, directors and stars of the brilliant horror/comedy Bad CGI Sharks as well! You might remember The Basement Boys reviewed Bad CGI Sharks a few weeks back. They enjoyed the movie so much it seemed logical to invite Jason and Matt Ellsworth and Matteo Molinari to join them on the show. The trio were gracious enough to accept. Jay interviews Laura about her role in Along Came the Devil II, discussing how she became involved in the project, what it was like maintaining the level of emotions required to survive a horror movie, and how she enjoyed working with veteran actor Bruce Davison. Laura is a charmer, and brings a sense of humour to the interview. This is a lively 10-minute discussion fans will enjoy. When it comes to talking with Jason, Matt and Matteo, the kid gloves are off as the Dynamic Duo learn how Bad CGI Sharks came together, how much of the movie is based on Jason and Matt's own experiences, and how the trio adjusted to their film becoming an Internet sensation. This is a great conversation, and one that is definitely not suitable for work. All five Basement Dwellers put Laura's film Along Came the Devil II on the chopping block. Is this horror sequel the next big thing this Halloween? Stick with us! But stick around for this morning's segment from the mighty Radio NL 610 AM Morning News with Howie Reimer. It wouldn't be an extended cut podcast without it. OK, you can now push play and enjoy! Along Came the Devil II opens everywhere Oct. 11.
There's just a month to go until Halloween, and what better way to get into the spirit of the creepy season than with a classic kind of horror movie. Not a question, a statement. Jason and Shawn do just that this episode by reviewing the upcoming scarefest My Soul to Keep and interviewing its director, AJ Zaheer Ahmad, and producer, Justin Hynous. AJ and Justin also wrote this bad boy, and provide some interesting insight on how they crafted the story and created what could be -- and should be -- the next big horror icon; The Burgly Monster! They also discuss making a movie with such a young cast, how to craft a scare, and a whole lot more during the 14-minute conversation. Horror fans take note; you want to hear this one! The Basement Boys also put My Soul to Keep on the chopping block, and determine whether this is a worthy entry in the horror cannon, and if the flick is good gateway horror for new fans. Stick with us! And stick around as From The Basement digs into the new Netflix series Marianne, the Halloween-themed Haunt, and Mike S returns with a retro review of John Carpenter's The Thing. PLUS there's the weekend rundown from the Radio NL 610 AM Morning News with Howie Reimer. It's all free, and all for you... Damian! Push play and enjoy!
