Our exit today has us hanging out with fashion models and trying to get our big break in the Cape Cod League. This week, we are talking about two films starring one of the true all stars of A Tripp Through Comedy: Freddie Prinze, Jr. First, we will talk about Head Over Heels, written by John J. Strauss, Ed Decter and David Kidd and directed by Mark Waters. Next, we will talk about Summer Catch, written by Kevin Falls and John Gatins and directed by Michael Tollin. Both films have Freddie Prinze Jr. involved in a romantic situation while trying to advance his career (sort of). They also did not make much noise at the box office. Along the way, we discuss some creepy subplots, Brian Dennehy, Bruce Davison, fake New York City, fake Cape Cod, our love of baseball, Rear Window, some questionable romances, and podcast regular Matthew Lillard. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 98th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1701 to 1725 in my Classic Collection. A hilarious sketch from "The Catherine Tate Show" [https://bit.ly/3C2ynT0] touches off my Fuzzy Feature, the two-part 2009-2010 "Doctor Who" Christmas special, "The End of Time." In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by several actors in shows I cataloged in this set, including Amy Acker, Stan Lee, then with the pilot episode of "Parenthood," I encountered so many direct links throughout my media collection including Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson and Mike O'Malley. Fond reflections on Andre Braugher, David Lynch and Linda Lavin, and with his appearance in "Psych," I highlighted actor Bruce Davison as a Golden Thread in my collection. In my Classic Collection, I chat about the 2010 White House Summit on Health Care Reform, and draw connections to "The West Wing" season seven episode "The Debate." Also, The Simpsons 20th Anniversary special, "Dollhouse," "Nip/Tuck" and Stephen Colbert highlighting Eduard Khil, "The Trololo Guy" [https://bit.ly/40dSaqE] in one of his episodes.  In What I've Been Watching, a friend of mine in Minot, Brent Braniff, put together a 20-minute Minneapolis travelogue called "Friends, Family and Waterfalls" [https://bit.ly/4g4lpSA] Also, comments on "Big Bear" (2017) and "Promising Young Woman" (2020). Finally, I was able to make some progress on my back catalog. Episodes 1 through 15 have been remastered and now deemed to be fit for human consumption. Enjoy!

Tubi has been putting us through the ringer lately, so it is only fitting for us to attempt an emotional reset using the grace of a Bigfoot film. But can Tubi fill the shoes?

How fantastic is it that the movie creates this entire world of mutants and what the state of things are and still runs under two hours? Has there been a better cast pairing than Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen? Why did they need to include D-level mutant, Toad? Is Xavier charging these students for all that school merch? What's up with the X-Men refusing to install railings in the Cerebro chamber? And isn't it wild how great can these movies be when the creators have respect for the intelligence of the audience? PLUS: Eric Szyszka? Turned into a mutant thanks to Magneto's Magic Mutant Machine! Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Bruce Davison, Iconic, Award-Winning Actor About Harvey's guest: Today's special guest, Bruce Davison, is an iconic, multi-award winning actor who's brought us dozens of unforgettable performances in a stellar career that spans almost 6 decades.    He earned an Academy Award nomination and WON a Golden Globe Award and a whole slew of prestigious film festival awards for Best Supporting Actor for his quiet, finely nuanced, painfully tender performance as “David”, the lover and caretaker of a life partner ravaged by AIDS, in the groundbreaking film, “Longtime Companion”.   His other movie credits include “Last Summer”, “Six Degrees of Separation”, “Abnormal Attraction”, “The Crucible”, “Apt Pupil”, “X-Men”, “X-2”, “Runaway Jury”, “Captors”, “Short Cuts”, for which he and his fellow cast members won a Golden Globe Special Award AND a Venice Film Festival Award for their work as an ensemble, and “Displacement”, for which he won a Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival Award for Best Supporting Actor.  And of course, we all remember him from the cult classic horror film “Willard”, in which he bonded notoriously with a herd of rats.    On television, you've seen him in hundreds of shows including “Harry and the Hendersons”, “Hunter”, “The Practice”, “Seinfeld”, “Knight Rider”, “Ghost Whisperer”, ”Mozart in the Jungle”,  “Designated Survivor”, “The Fosters”, ”1923”,  ”Bosch Legacy”, and “Glow and Darkness”.   And who can ever forget him as the villainous Senator on “Ozark” and the wise judge on “Lincoln Lawyer”?  And he was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his performance in “Touched By an Angel”.   On the stage, he starred on Broadway in "Tiger at the Gates", “The Elephant Man” and “The Glass Menagerie”, as well as at the Lincoln Center in the cast of "King Lear."  And he portrayed Clarence in "Richard III" at the New York Shakespeare Festival.      He's also starred onstage in "The Skin of Our Teeth," "The Little Foxes", "A Life in the Theatre," “Love Letters”, “How I Learned to Drive” and “Streamers”, for which he won the Los Angeles Drama Critics Award.  He received a second Los Angeles Drama Critics Award for his performance in the multi-award winning play "The Normal Heart".    Our guest is also an Emmy nominated director for his work on the 2001 TV movie, “Off Season”.   In 2012 our guest received an Honorary Satellite Award, and in 2018 he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Action on Film International Film Festival. For more interviews and podcasts go to: https://www.harveybrownstoneinterviews.com/ To learn more about Bruce Davison, go to:https://www.instagram.com/bruce.davison/ https://twitter.com/bruce_davison #BruceDavison    #harveybrownstoneinterviews

Summer Catch came at the peak of Freddie Prinze, Jr. mania. He was sort of the king of sub-par romantic comedies in the mid-2000s, and like the rest of his films, this one, too, is mediocre. Full of cringeworthy schmaltz and baseball scenes that strain credibility, Summer Catch is exactly what one would expect from a genre that feasts on the contrived. It's got the local boy (Prinze, Jr.) trying to make it after experiencing a downward spiral; it's got the rich girl (Jessica Biel) who falls for him; and, of course, it has the bad actor, her father (Bruce Davison), who doesn't want his daughter slumming it up with a guy destined to cut grass for a living. Even more obvious than all these stock characters is the fact that Ryan Dunne, the hometown pitcher, will not only achieve his baseball dreams, but he will also land the girl. Cue the corn! Anyway, with a plot as stupid as that and a moronic script to match, it is no wonder Summer Catch was lambasted by critics. It sits at 8% on Rotten Tomatoes with 92 reviews. Its box office fortunes weren't much better. It earned just $19.7 million. Mike Sargent joins host Robin Milling to talk about his directorial horror slasher project From The Shadows, inspired by Zoom and the virtual world, Mike talks about working with veteran film and stage actors Bruce Davison and Keith David, and how his various life experiences as a film critic radio broadcaster, storyboard illustrator and sound designer all played a part in his filmmaking talents. What's next for Sargent is a book chronicling the three poignant questions he's done in interviews over the years with filmmakers, and of course, you can expect much more from this renaissance man.
