We miss fellowship with God and the blessings of His hand because we instinctively know that we are not dressed for the occasion. Our sin and shame make us feel naked and exposed, so we stay away. Just like the priests had to dress for the occasion to meet with God, so we too must be dressed to meet with God and cover our sin and shame, but our clothing is not a breastplate or an ephod but Christ himself (Gal 3:27).
We let the defilement of the world spread to us and through us because we don't receive the full anointing of the Spirit of God to change us and purify us. Christ was crucified in our place so we could become pure vessels that receive the full measure of the Holy Spirit. When we trust in Christ, we are made holy and become agents of God's holiness to a defiled world.
We are afraid to approach God, so we keep our distance when all the power and blessing of God is found in getting close. Jesus Christ is the gate to God's presence and the sacrifice that gives us the right and gumption to His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise.
We live in darkness because we don't seek or depend on the light that Jesus Christ can bring us. God is our source of true and pure light, and until we learn to trust in His light, we will never experience the knowledge, blessing, and healing His light brings.
We don't realize the blessing of God's presence nor the means of how to secure it, so we live anemic, powerless, sin-filled lives when we should have power, influence, and abundance. Christ's blood covers over our sin on the mercy seat so God's holy presence can empower us to live in all the fullness of God's blessings.
We tend to say “No, Lord” to the things we don't want to do without realizing that's it's impossible to say “No, Lord” without hypocrisy. Either He's Lord and we say “yes,” or we say “no” proving He's not our Lord. God is moving and calling us into His mighty work. Christ, through his death, burial and resurrection, earned the right to be called our Lord. We must say “Yes, Lord” to him!
We tend to box in the church in our thinking and thus box in how the Lord intends to save us and those around us. We miss how He is at work. The church comes in all different shapes and sizes to spread the gospel to people of all different shapes and sizes. Christ doesn't need a building to build his church. He just needs ready people.
We have lost our mission and purpose as the people of God and suffer the lack of power and significance that comes with such a failure. The church is a powerhouse built on the gospel and redeemed to make a difference in this world. When we all learn that and live it out, the gates of hell can't stop her!

We have rebelled against God and hated him and others in our hearts, and we deserve the condemnation and death that such sin warrants. Jesus, the obedient, innocent one, was condemned to death so that disobedient, guilty sinners like you and me could be set free. If we believe this to be true, what can we do but worship him?
We tend to compromise our values when we don't feel safe. When danger comes our tendancy is to flee from it. The gospel gives us peace even when we are not secure. A life with Jesus isn't guaranteed to be safe. The guarantee is found in his presence, not his protection.
We tend to strive to be on top because we think it will satisfy us, but the journey up can make us enemies of God, ourselves, and everyone we care about. When we choose to humble ourselves for the sake of others, like Christ humbled himself for us (Phil 2:8), God exalts us in His kingdom, and that exaltation last for eternity.
We try to blame everyone else for evil in the world, but evil comes from our own hearts. Judas alone didn't set in motion Jesus's death. We killed Jesus with our own sins. That's why he had to go to the cross. It was to save us. Though we, like Judas, have betrayed Jesus, he chose to give his body and his blood to redeem us and save us. We need only to admit our sin, confess our part in his death, and trust in Christ's body and blood to save us.
We think generosity is a dollar amount instead of a heart posture, so we either give with undue pride or we don't give at all, thinking it doesn't make a difference (a little drop in a huge bucket). Jesus gave us all he had, his very life, for us. In response to such generosity, how can we not give all we have to him and let him determine what generosity looks like for us?

This story serves as a reminder of the power and ability of God to work miracles and bring hope and faith to those who trust in Him.
We all try to control our own lives and secure our own blessings, and when we do, we find ourselves fighting against God Himself, a fight we will never win. Because of our rebellion against God's rule, we have forfeited our lives to being crushed by the Rock of His wrath. But when we humble ourselves, repent of our sins, and fall on Christ, we get made into a new building (the new cornerstone) through our brokenness.
People don't realize how polarizing Jesus is and wants to be. They think they can have him as friend and not as King. Jesus came to make us choose him as King or foe, and too many unknowingly choose him as foe. Jesus Christ is the King of creation, and he wants to be the King of our lives as well. He came to bring us peace, secured that peace on the cross, and offers it to us. But we can only have it when we bow before his rule. We must choose him as our King!
We let fear, time constraints, past experiences, laziness, and pride keep us from being known by God and others, and we suffer the damages of isolation because of it. God sent His own Son to earth so He could be known, and so we could be fully restored to relationship with Him. And because He is a relational God, he wants us to be in relationship with each other through the gospel.
We choose to draw near to many things other than Jesus, and because of it, we miss the one thing we need most, the Savior of our souls. Draw near to Jesus to find the on gift that can satisfy your soul.
We all tend to be too focused on what we want, think we need, or how we feel. We all want to be sovereign over our lives and live by our own rules. Jesus came to endure a violent death so that in the violence of grace he could free us from from the kingdom of self and transport us to his kingdom of life and light that will never, ever end.
Because we don't trust in Jesus as the way to the Father, we don't recognize him as the hope from the Father. Christ's coming to earth was a message of hope, truth, and life because it showed sinful humans how to find the way back to the Father, through the cross of Jesus Christ.
When we forget the majesty of the culmination of so many prophesies about the coming of the Messiah, Christmas becomes white noise instead of the faith-builder it was intended to be. Christ's birth proved he was who he said he was, the promised Messiah. Therefore, Christ can do what he promised to do, save humanity from their sins and set the captives free. Because we don't care about the lost, we aren't willing to do anything to help them find the saving grace of God. If we have been redeemed by God's glorious grace, all we can do is help others find that same grace. God is calling us to go and prepping those we will go to. All we need to do is say “yes” to taking steps toward His mission. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? When God calls us to move in hard directions, we often go in the opposite direction to avoid discomfort or danger and suffer the consequences of our disobedience. We've all gone the wrong way in life, but Christ took the suffering of our consequences (3 days in the belly) so that we could have a second chance to obey. Now we must obey wherever He calls us to go to do whatever He calls us to do. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? God always gets the last of our time, the last of our attention, the last of our possessions, and the last of our affections. And we wonder why we suffer from the last of His blessing. God gave His best to us, and all He asks is that we follow His example and give Him what He deserves, the best of our time, attention, possessions, and affections. We are so incredibly selfish that we naturally look to our own interests first before the interests of others. This world's way is completely antithetical to God's way. Jesus showed us what to value. We are supposed to “in humility count others more important that ourselves, like Christ did for us when he died on the cross. When we put the interests of the weak, the vulnerable, and even our enemies before our own, we reflect God to the world. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? Our sin and mistreatment of others has created a debt both to man and God that we cannot ever repay. We can make no restitution. Because our sin was so great and our condemnation so certain, Christ had to come pay the cost of restitution so we could be set free from our debt to God and others. We tend to believe that it is only what we do that defines who we are. Intentions of the heart don't matter, only the actions that we take. Every action flows out of an overflow of the heart. What we do matters, but God cares most about our heart being yielded to him so that as image bearers we can honor and protect the dignity of each image bearers life. God loves people and he gave each person the dignity of life, and he has given us his law to ensure we protect it. He loves people and the dignity of life so much that even when we failed to keep his law, he sent his son to receive the fullness of his justice for our sin. He lost the dignity of his life. He was beaten, tortured, and murdered so that we could have the dignity of our life restored to us and could be given eternal life. The moment we forget the pain of our past and God's redemption, we begin to create pain for others around us. God values humanity enough to send His Son to die in order to free them from slavery to Satan. As such, He doesn't support any institution that enslaves men. He works in broken society to protect His prized possession, human beings. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? Because we don't understand the image of God that people bear, we don't honor them like we should. We cannot honor God unless we honor those who bear His image. Every human being is created in the image of God and therefore deserves the honor of that identity. Yet, we humans fail to reflect the perfect image of God as we mistreat others in deference for ourselves. Christ was the only perfectly obedient Son who showed honor to all, and our honor is restored through him as by faith it is imputed on us.New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? Because we don't trust that God will provide for us, we don't ever rest from our work long enough to let Him. We are ragged and cursed because we don't receive the blessing of abundance God wants to give. The sabbath is a gift to God's people that shows God's power, God's provision, and God's care. We must learn to let God do what only God can do, a truth that helps us understand and live out the gospel of God's work in our redemption. As redemption is a gift, so is rest.New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? We tend to think too lightly of who the Lord is. We are so easily drawn to things that can serve our purposes, rather than living in a way that serves God's purposes. Jesus sacrificed himself to bring us out of the slavery of our sins. The highest form of agape love. He gave us what we needed the most, when we deserved it the least, at great personal cost. Receiving his love through belief in the gospel makes God the central part of my life, and my obedience to his commands is simply a response of love to who he is and what he has done. Our tendency is to wander away from God, not stay close to Him. The church can die off in one generation if we don't invest in the next, helping them learn the goodness and power of God. And sadly, far too many adults don't take that mantle seriously. Christ didn't just die to redeem his people so they could quietly drift off into heaven. He died to redeem them for a purpose, to be salt and light in this tasteless, dark world. We need to invest in the next generation so we can send them into the darkness! We know how to say the right things but all tend to struggle following through with our commitments to God. We can talk the talk but we struggle at walking the walk. God made a covenant with Israel that they were unable to fulfill. They said they would do whatever he said, but they were unable to do it. Because of his holiness we should be eternally separated from him, having no way to have relationship with Him, because we can't follow through with what he say we will do. Jesus walked the walk that we couldn't walk. He followed through and died in our place, because we couldn't keep God's covenant. But he did this to bring us into the covenant of being his people and living for his purpose. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? We mistakenly think only a few people have the capacity to lead us spiritually, so we turn down help from capable people who could shepherd us and instead seek help from the few “professionals.” Christ didn't just save believers from their sin but he also sent them his own Spirit to live in them. Because of this, your spiritual needs can be met by any person of integrity who has the Spirit, not just a select group of clergy. Seek shepherding from the 10's not just the 1,000's. We constantly put God to the test to see if He is worthy of our devotion even though He's proven His worth 1,000 times over. We are hesitant to trust Him until we get what we want and thus we rarely get what we need. Christ is the Rock who was struck to bring us living water to satisfy our deepest thirst. We tend to look to earthly things to provide for us and satisfy us. God is willing to take us to a place of desperation to teach us that only he can provide for us. No earthly thing can provide life for us, we must be dependent on him to provide life for us. The Father sending his son is the greatest act of provision from God. He took the bitterness of the death we deserved to bring us into the sweetness of life and provision with him. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? When we forget who our God is, we take our own battles into our own hands, and our pride destroys us in the process. Our God has already won the victory. The cross and resurrection proved it. We can't find a place of thriving because we don't feel safe and at rest. We are missing the shepherd's staff and rod to bring us and keep us in that place. Christ is our place of safety and rest. Our sin tendency is to hide even when we are in plain sight. We can be surrounded by people and completely unchanged by the relationships if we don't let the gospel break us down and call us into reconstructive relationships. The gospel teaches us that we don't have to hide. Our salvation is secure by Christ's perfection, not ours. We can be known, taught, challenged, and sent if we would just let a shepherd call us to something higher. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? We miss a deeper relationship with the Father because we don't love and welcome those He loves and welcomes. The gospel shows us that God's heart beats for the vulnerable. We long to be great, and so we attempt to be so through achieving, acquiring, and calling attention to ourselves. Our pursuit of greatness actually blinds us from the one thing keeping us from greatness…, our pride. Lent, through sacrifice, giving up, letting go, and self-humbling exposes our hearts and calls us to Christ's way and not our own. Sometimes we feel like we are all alone, like there is no one who knows what we are going through. This can cause us to live isolated, feel lonely and hopeless. Jesus took on humanity, which means he took on weakness. He experienced every trial and temptation that we could ever experience, but he never sinned. He overcame every weakness of humanity, even death.
