Jonty Rhodes, one of our favourite cricketers ever and arguably the best fielder the game has ever seen, is our very special guest this week. A whole generation of cricket fans, including us, grew up watching Jonty do things on a cricket field that had never been seen before - extraordinary catches, diving stops and ridiculous run outs - a proper pioneer. In a wide ranging interview we cover his career highlights, the players he now admires, the art of fielding, THAT 1999 World Cup Semi Final, investing in franchise cricket, coaching in the IPL and crucially which character in 'The Lion King' does he most resemble? Plus Mattchin is back with a ‘Jonty Rhodes' inspired quiz.

Breaking Down the Vikings' 2025 UDFA Class: Special Teams Fits, Roster Battles, and Top Sleepers — Tyler Forness and producer Dave host Kevin Fielder to break down the Minnesota Vikings' 19-player UDFA class, focusing on how special teams ability often determines roster spots. They discuss why the Vikings didn't sign a consensus top-200 UDFA in a draft marked by low consensus and undrafted players with red flags. Fielder outlines traits needed for core special teamers and punt gunners, then evaluates key UDFAs: RB Demond Claiborne's return upside; punter Brett Thorson as a true competition with Johnny Hekker complicated by Thorson's slow operation time and limited, shaky holding reps; and WRs led by Dillon Bell as a likely roster candidate and return option. Defensively, Fielder highlights North Texas CB Da'Veawn Armstead as a Flores-style tackler with roster potential, criticizes UNC CB Marcus Allen's tackling, and names Scooby Williams and JMU S Jacob Thomas as intriguing fits. He predicts three UDFAs make the 53-man roster: Bell, Armstead, and possibly Thorson. 00:00 Top Vikings UDFAs 01:14 Meet Kevin Fielder 02:11 Why No Top 200 UDFA 04:34 Special Teams Blueprint 08:23 RB3 Battle Claiborne 12:05 Punter and Holder Fight 16:59 UDFA Wideouts Focus 20:21 Dillon Bell Breakdown 26:10 Punt Gunner Traits 28:30 Cornerback Sleeper Armstead 31:22 Marcus Allen Tackling Woes 32:12 Tyreek Chappell Nickel Fit 33:52 Edge Rushers And Roles 35:38 Scooby Williams Roster Push 37:38 Jacob Thomas Flores Safety 39:54 UDFA Linemen To Watch 42:15 Why Not Ahmari Harvey 43:49 Bold UDFA Roster Picks 44:53 Thorson Punting Mechanics 48:57 Dillon Bell Draft Slide 52:57 Wrap Up Plugs And Schedule _______________________ ⭐️ Subscribe to us here! - https://www.youtube.com/@vikings1stskol92 ⭐️ Our Twitter can be found at @Vikings1stSKOL ⭐️ Our Discord at https://discord.com/invite/493z6mQXcN ⭐️ Tyler Forness can be read at A to Z Sports - https://atozsports.com/nfl/minnesota-vikings-news/ ⭐️ Submit questions: forms.gle/7LJkCAern9kdUkuD8 ⭐️ On Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/vikings1standskol ⭐️ Watch the live show here: https://youtu.be/rhqvLBa3vxs Fan With Us!!! My friends Scott Fielder & Chris Crowe have spent the past few years publicly documenting their quest to pass the Master Cicerone exam. In late 2025, Scott Fielder became just the 29th Master Cicerone in the world. Chris, his best friend and partner in this process, came close to doing the same, and is more determined than ever to pass the exam in 2026. I sat down with Scott and Chris recently to talk about how their pursuit of knowledge through these certifications has impacted their experience and enjoyment of beer. We also talk about the vulnerability of sharing their exam preparation as publicly as they have, and how we can provide consumers with useful information without gatekeeping and using exclusionary descriptive language. It's old home week on the Gone to the Dogs podcast as Steve connects with his longtime friend and former boss, Larry Meeks. Meeks was the owner and served as CEO for Professional Kennel Club for thirteen years following his purchase of the popular coonhound registry in the fall of 1997. Fielder joined the organization in June of 1998 and served as its Senior Vice President through November of 2004. Conversation flows freely as Fielder urges Meeks to recall his meager upbringing in and around the Terre Haute, Indiana area. It's a Horatio Alger story of a kid raised by a single parent, his dad, that was largely left to his own devices until he discovered his affinity to all things involving trucks. Meeks and his son Jeremy own and operate Gibco Motor Express, one of the nation's top commodity haulers that haul, in Meeks' words, everything from coal to bread. Meeks coon hunting background and an early affiliation with PKC led him to purchase the registry and catapult it into a thriving business in his 13-year tenure. He and Fielder relive the days and nights at the Tennis Center at Ken Lake State Park in West Kentucky where the Super Stakes and World Hunt were held back-to-back in a ten-day coon hunting marathon. Stories, some that include an inside look at the workings of a major coon hunting organization, abound in this entertaining episode. Enjoy. We would like to thank those who support this podcast.
