Nathan Fielder needed an aviation expert for Season 2 of the series "The Rehearsal" so he tapped Flight Safety Detectives' own John Goglia. John's recommendations for how crew resource management (CRM) can reduce aviation accidents became the focus of the season.John discusses how he was approached to be in the show, how he didn't have a clear idea of the direction it would take, and the unexpected reaction.Season 2 of "The Rehearsal" addresses the role that enhanced CRM could play in reducing accidents. The tropic is explored in the context of comedy, absurdity, and simulations of the travel experience. Throughout, John is featured as the voice of authority.Perhaps the most unusual aspect of the series was how seriously deeply Fielder approached the subject. He went from being a non-pilot to getting a type rating in a 737. Hear John's insider look at how the show came together.Stay tuned – John has invited Nathan Fielder to appear on a future episode of Flight Safety Detectives! Nathan Fielder's The Rehearsal is probably the most brilliantly strange "reality" show to date. An uncanny mixture of documentary, memoir, comedy show, and adventure movie, The Rehearsal pushes the usual conventions of TV, deconstructing the elements that go into producing and directing an almost impossible series of thrilling, funny and bizzare segments. Fielder, a bona fide eccentric and oddball, is clearly interested in revealing the absurdity of attempting to document actual life, while sparing no expense (HBO's money!) to make the attempt nonetheless. As Oscar Wilde once said, "All art is at once surface and symbol. Those who go beneath the surface do so at their peril. Those who read the symbol do so at their peril. It is the spectator, and not life, that art really mirrors.” More than any other creator currently making art, Fielder is in the Wilde camp. Art may be futile, but it's very futility is it's greatest liberty. Join Tom and Azed as they dive into The strange and beautiful world of The Rehearsal. Also in this episode: mini reviews of Sinners, The Shrouds, Thunderbolts and some reco's from The Cannes Film Fest.

In this episode of Banterly, host Aidan sits down with journalist Rosie Carroll to unpack the mind-bending second season of Nathan Fielder's HBO series The Rehearsal. They dive into the show's surreal blend of reality and simulation, dissecting how Fielder pushes the boundaries of comedy to examine human connection, performance, and control. From the ethical tightrope of the “Wings of Voice” episode to the internet fallout of the Lana Love controversy, Aidan and Rosie offer a deep analysis of the show's most talked-about moments (can we please talk about Nathan Fielder as Baby Sully?). Along the way, they reflect on their own experiences with social anxiety and whether life would be easier if we could rehearse it all in advance. __ Hosted by: Rosie Carroll & Aidan Taylor Producer: Shei Yu | Content Writers: Rosie Carroll & Aidan Taylor I Editorial Review: Saadia Khan I Sound Designer & Editor: Lou Raskin I Immigrantly Theme Music: Simon Hutchinson | Other Music: Epidemic Sound | Cover art design: Josephine Chai | Executive Producer: Saadia Khan Please share the love and leave us a review on Apple Podcasts & Spotify to help more people find us! On Easter Sunday, we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus — the moment that changed everything. Through worship and the preaching of God's Word, we were reminded that because Jesus rose from the grave, hope is alive, sin is defeated, and new life is possible for all who believe.Whether you missed the service or want to revisit the message, we pray it encourages your faith and draws you closer to Jesus.
