1 Peter 4:10 / John 13:14-17 The church and its mission to reach the world is sustained by the unselfish service of every person who follows Jesus. When we serve selflessly it not only brings hope to those around us but gives us a purpose bigger than ourselves. Only when we serve selflessly in the ways God has gifted us are we able to become fully alive in our faith.
In this episode of the Everyday Joy Podcast, host Ash Owen sits down with Shaylee to explore Romans 15:2 (MSG): "Strength is for service, not status. How to live selflessly and fearlessly in the light of Christ. amenpodcast.com
In this message, we conclude our series in the book of Romans. We will look at the command to never become a stumbling block or hindrance to another believer.1. We are to use our freedom for God's glorification, not selfish gratification.2. We are never to encourage someone to act against their personal conviction.3. How we treat one another is a witness to the lost world around us. 4. Our priorities must shift from what is personally beneficial to what is mutually beneficial. This message was recorded live at Transform Church in Memphis, TN. Prayer & Fullness Teacher: Jon Morales, Lead Pastor at Oak Pointe Church John 17:13-19 When her enslaver fell into financial trouble, a newlywed Harriet Tubman realized her family would soon be torn apart and sold for top dollar. It was then she faced unthinkable danger by attempting an escape from slavery. At the end of her long journey from Maryland to Philadelphia, Tubman had achieved her lifelong dream of freedom—but her story didn't end there. Selflessly, and fueled by her Christian faith, Tubman dedicated her life to setting others free. As a Conductor in the Underground Railroad, she sacrificed her own safety to bring approximately 70 people—including her family—to freedom. From there, she continued to fight in both the abolitionist and suffragist movements until her death in 1913. Like Tubman, we have a mission to the world. Join us this Sunday as our upcoming message, “Prayer and Identity,” reveals how we can be most heavenly-minded and of the most earthly good.
What drives your action? Your love or Christ's love? Today, our call-out goes to Craig Rogers from Long Island, NY. Thanks for your encouragement! For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” — Galatians 5:14 This is an interesting line from Paul because, throughout this letter, he has been referring to the law and the works of the law negatively. But here, he makes an abrupt turn. He encourages obedience to the law summed up in a single command. So why this change? He does this only because he views the law through the life of Jesus, who fulfilled it. In Jesus's fulfillment of the entire law, we are freed to love. In loving others, we embody Jesus's love because his love sustains and empowers us to love ourselves and others rightly. Returning to the previous text, this all hinges on what motivates our love. Is our love motivated by selfish intent or selfless intent? Do we love our neighbor with our selfish love, or do we love our neighbor with his selfless love? There is a vast difference between these two motives. This is the motivational tightrope we walk every day, and the hope is that all our motivation is driven to love others perfectly from his perfect love working through us. So go, love people today. But love them differently. Look at them and love them by his love, not your love. Love them selflessly, not selfishly. Love them like Jesus loved them, and I pray all your actions will reflect more of him and less of yourself. #ChristlikeLove #SelflessAction #MotivatedByLove ASK THIS: Reflect on a recent interaction with someone. Did your actions reflect selfish love or Christ's selfless love? How could you have responded differently to align more closely with Christ's example? Think about a challenging relationship in your life. How might intentionally choosing to love that person with Christ's love instead of your own impact the dynamics of the relationship? What steps can you take to embody Christ's love more fully in that relationship? DO THIS: Love like Jesus. Selflessly. PRAY THIS: Lord, help me to love others with the same selfless love that You have shown me, guiding my actions to reflect Your heart for humanity. May Your love flow through me, transforming my motives and empowering me to love others as You have loved me. Amen. PLAY THIS: For God So Loved.

The World's Hatred Teacher: Jon Morales, Lead Pastor at Oak Pointe Church John 15:18-27 In two weeks, our nation will commemorate St. Patrick's Day, but amid the leprechauns, shamrocks, and corned beef, does anyone remember what we're celebrating? Maewyn Succat, later known as St. Patrick, was born in Britain in the fourth century A.D. Shortly before Patrick turned 16, his family's villa was attacked by pirates, who abducted him to their homeland of Ireland and sold him as a slave. It was there, enslaved in a foreign land, that Patrick encountered Jesus. After six years of harsh labor, Patrick finally escaped his oppressors and embarked on a two-year journey home. Safely returned to his family at last, the young man soon began to sense the call of God to do something absolutely mad: journey back to Ireland and share the Gospel with the very people who had enslaved him. Despite fierce opposition, that is exactly what Patrick did. Selflessly, he devoted his life to proclaiming the message of Christ throughout Ireland, by which an entire nation was transformed by the Gospel. As we reflect on the radical, self-giving love of St. Patrick, we recognize the high calling placed on everyone who claims to follow Jesus. Join us this Sunday as our upcoming message challenges how you and I respond to “The World's Hatred” today.
Welcome to Season 4 of Inside Out Leadership! In this season, we explore the often-overlooked power of receiving. While the adage "it is better to give than to receive" is deeply ingrained in our cultural psyche, we rarely discuss the importance of being open to receiving help, praise, and diverse perspectives. In my upcoming book, "Lessons from Abdul: The Hidden Power of Receiving from Anyone, Anytime," I uncover the seven key obstacles that hinder leaders from embracing receptivity. Drawing from my experiences with my mentor, Abdul, I share ten transformative insights to help you become a more genuine and open receiver. Join me for monthly episodes where we delve into these valuable lessons, unlocking deeper self-discovery, purpose, and the ability to inspire others. Together, let's cultivate the capacity to learn from anyone, anytime, and become purposeful and selfless givers in the process.

"Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep" (Romans 12:9). In today's conversation, Lindsey and Jesse Maestas discuss friendship, their different perspectives on 'showing up' for people, and Jesse candidly reveals his own struggle with the temptation to navigate life independently. He addresses men who grapple with discomfort in seeking help, supporting, or expressing love for their friends. Silently battling financial burdens and parenting stresses, these men often confront a sense of fear or pride surrounding their vulnerabilities. Within this discussion, the episode explores the misconception that friendship requires sacrificing the greatest things in life. Contrary to this, scripture teaches the integral role of friendship within the church, the body, and fellowship. Lindsey shares insights into managing expectations surrounding others' involvement in her greatest achievements, shedding light on the emptiness and loneliness that can arise from unhealthy expectations. Serving selflessly leads to our transformation.
Because of their commitment to Jesus, disciples do their part to build up His church. The church will be healthier, stronger, and more effective when each person finds a way to use their time and talent to serve others in the church. There are countless ways to do this-- hospitality, prayer, ministry teams, leadership, meeting needs, etc. We each have something different to offer, but the church will be best when each person does their part.

Do you value others above yourself, or do you worry that if you don't take care of yourself, you will be taken advantage of by others? Philippians 2:1-4 Building relationships takes a lot from us. We are so incredibly selfish that we naturally look to our own interests first before the interests of others. This world's way is completely antithetical to God's way. Jesus showed us what to value. We are supposed to “in humility count others more important that ourselves, like Christ did for us when he died on the cross. When we put the interests of the weak, the vulnerable, and even our enemies before our own, we reflect God to the world. New to Fielder? https://www.fielder.org/connectQuestions or Need Prayer? This episode looks at Jesus' time with Pilate before being sent to death found in Matthew 27:11-26. Together, we will be discussing listening for the Spirit's voice, even in unlikely places, as we follow obediently after Jesus.
Acts 28:7-10The Rock Christian Fellowship, Newark NJ
When reading the fourth chapter of John's first letter, it would be tough for the author to be more clear with what he wants God's people to do: "Beloved, let us love one another" (4:7), "we also ought to love one another" (4:11), "if we love one another" (4:12), and "the one who loves God should love his brother also" (4:21). And when the Bible talks about loving others it expects more than warm-fuzzy-feelings. Rather, it's calling for others-focused, need-meeting, self-sacrificial care (as modelled by Jesus, 4:9–10). Now, that command for God's people to love one another is easier to know than to do, easier to take-in than to live-out, easier to understand than to apply. Why? Because, while we may be saved, we're still a bunch of sinners who hurt each other, disappoint each other, frustrate each other, and disagree with each other. And yet, the command remains the same—love one another. How do we do that with consistency and intentionality? What stops us from obedience? How do we love the sometimes unlovely? NOTE: This conversation is based on the sermon "Five Good Reasons to Love One Another" (1 John 4:7–21).
John 15:9-17 Setting a brief explanation of the context and the connection between loving God and obedience to His call. We see the production of the fruit of the Holy Spirit as we remain in Christ. The meaning of life, Love and relationship, Love God & Love People. Our purpose is to be an expression, a reflection, of God's love and remain in Him. Remaining in Him is to be surrounded and filled with an all-encompassing love. Loving others is only hard when it goes against our selfish nature. Loving others starts with laying down our lives and our own agenda. The creator of the universe calls us “friend”. As our heart aligns with Christ we desire more and more to see His will be done. The promise of something so much better than defining our own life.

Y'all LIFE will NEVER stop LIFEing. I attempted to record and upload this episode last week but I was needed more in support of my husband as he began his journey of healing after loosing his father, Steven Metcalf (You will truly be missed pops). Still in our Marriage series, I share how God surprisingly tied my SelfLESS vs Selfish topic into supporting my husbands grief. Before you begin to roll your eyes lol I tried to wrap this up into a shorter episode but y'all know how God moves sooooooo…. Take it up with my daddy lol but in all seriousness, I hope that you find some value in my perspective. Selfish love: is focused on getting what one can gain from their partner and the relationship. Selfless love: is about sacrificing everything for another and accepting the other without judgment. In today's episode, Paul and Coach Micheala want to talk about you. Y.O.U. Not your kids. Not your dog. Not your job. Not the bills, laundry, or kid's sporting events tonight.
