Civil rights icon Jesse Jackson added his voice Thursday to the chorus calling for change in Kenosha. Jackson spoke at a press conference with Wisconsin NAACP leaders and local officials. Against a backdrop of boarded up businesses and burned cars, Jackson condemned the shooting of Jacob Blake by a Kenosha officer. Blake was seriously injured but survived. “Shot in the back seven times,” Jackson said. “In front of his children. No justification.” Jackson said the Blake shooting is part of a pattern. He named other Black people who were killed or harmed by police: Laquan MacDonald, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor. And he contrasted Blake’s treatment to the way law enforcement initially responded to 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse, a white man who allegedly shot and killed two people during protests in Kenosha. Rittenhouse was not stopped by officers when he walked past them, carrying a long gun, apparently shortly after the shooting. Videos Show Law Enforcement Fraternizing With Armed Group

Last summer, Chicago Cubs baseball player Ben Zobrist got thrown out of the game when he turned to the umpire and complained “that’s why we want an electronic strike zone”. Who is a better witness to the truth—a person … or a computer? On a more serious note: This question became especially relevant in Chicago. Chris & Adam watched the race-charged trial of the police officer who shot black teenager Laquan MacDonald. A police video camera became the key piece of evidence the jury trusted over the eye-witness accounts. From a Christian ethics point of view, witness is key—heck, it’s the Ninth Commandment! TOUGH QUESTIONS Are we at a point where technology is a better witness than a human? If so what does that mean? What do cameras see that people don’t? What can a human witness offer that a video witness cannot? Can technology bear false witness? The Chicago-based hip-hop artist Vic Mensa not only raps about Chicago police killings of black and brown people, about apartheid in Palestine, the poisoning of the water in Flint, Michigan, but he also goes to where the silence is and speaks out.  In the aftermath of the police shooting of Laquan MacDonald, Mensa was in the streets and gave voice to the movement that led to the conviction of second-degree murder for Chicago Police officer Jason Van Dyke. Mensa has traveled in Palestine with the poet Aja Monet, and he has gone to Flint to help amplify the voices of a community that was poisoned and continues to be poisoned. During the Standing Rock movement, he joined to support the water protectors fighting against the Dakota Access Pipeline.  He speaks about his activism, what he saw in Palestine, being a gun owner who supports gun control, and the revolutionary figures that inspire his work.

Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is denying an allegation of sexual misconduct. Dr. Christine Blasey Ford alleges that Kavanaugh held her down, groped her and covered her mouth when she tried to scream when they were in high school in 1982. She also claims that she was in fear for her life. What does this mean for the nomination going forward? We'll deal with the politics, optics, and process of it all. Opening statements begin today in the case of white Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke who fatally shot unarmed black teen Laquan MacDonald in 2014. In a city where police officers have been involved in dozens of controversial shootings without facing charges, the case against Van Dyke has taken on added significance. Relations between the police and residents, especially black residents, have long been troubled, and some people see the trial as a rare test of whether an officer can ever be held accountable for taking a life.In an attempt to first punish and then pressure the Palestinians to accept the so-called peace plan, the US delivers $3.3 billion dollars in military aid to Israel while cutting all funding for Palestinian humanitarian relief through UNRWA. Also, the US and India signed a breakthrough security agreement on Sept 6th, cementing relations between the pair and unlocking sales of high-tech American weaponry worth billions of dollars to the world's top arms importer. Back in March, Saudi crown prince Mohammad Bin Salman came to the White House and President Trump was all praise for the prince and mentioned that the kingdom purchased planes, missiles, and frigates from U.S. companies worth $12.5 billion. What do all of these arms sales really translate into in the context of foreign policy? GUESTS: Barbara Arnwine — President and founder of the Transformative Justice Coalition, internationally renowned for contributions on critical justice issues including the passage of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1991 and the 2006 reauthorization of provisions of the Voting Rights Act.Michael Meltsner — Former Dean of Northeastern University School of Law, Matthews Distinguished University Professor of Law, and author of With Passion: An Activist Lawyer's Life.Dr. Ameena Matthews — Senior Violence Interrupter whose job is to mediate conflict on the front end to stop the transmission of violence from one person to another. The secret Senate bill to "repeal and replace" Obamacare was as sinister as the MOMocrats expected, especially when it comes to women's healthcare (and what would you expect when it was crafted behind closed doors by 13 men without any input from their female colleagues?) It didn't take long for Mitch McConnell to realize that he would not get the votes he needed to pass it with just his slight Republican majority. The phone calls and demonstrations in Senators' offices were an early indication that the bill in its current form would not get to the Senate floor (there is something really distressing at images of people in wheelchairs being handcuffed and carried away).  But McConnell is a wily old master of the political dark arts, and we can be sure this evil bill will be back.  MOMocrats Karoli, Aliza Worthington, and Donna Schwartz Mills will also talk about the Philando Castile case where the officer was acquitted even after the jury saw the devastating dashcam video - and this week's indictiment of the three Chicago officers who shot young Laquan MacDonald 16 times in the back and tried to spin it as self-defense (that video was already released, and it's devastating). The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We'll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS It's probably expecting too much to have consecutive weeks of enforcement officers being convicted of mauling black people. A week after Daniel Holtzclaw was found guilty in Oklahoma, the first of six trials against the Baltimore, Maryland officers accused of killing Freddie Gray concluded in a mistrial. There's no indication on when - or if - a re-trial will be scheduled or how this will influence the five remaining trials. In Chicago, Illinois Suspected Race Soldier Jason Van Dyke was indicted for the murder of 17-year-old Laquan MacDonald; he'll be arraigned later this month. Whites are offering heaps of rhetoric about improving the criminal justice system as a result of these cases; in New York they agreed to reform the practice of solitary confinement - they did not commit to eliminating this custom. Beyond their highfalutin words, pathological White patterns and practices remain. A Northern California prison was indicted for an "entrenched culture" of Racism and violence that one victim described as having a "KKK... feeling". On a good note, Serena Williams was branded the 2015 Sportsperson of the Year by Sports Illustrated. Many White Supremacists were disgusted that the black tennis titan won the award over a horse. More tellingly, Sports Illustrated connected the achievement to Williams' decision to forgive and forget by returning to Indian Wells for the first time since a 2001 display of tackiness and Racism from thousands of White spectators. #AnswersForMiriamCarey INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943# The C.O.W.S. archives: http://tiny.cc/76f6p

Our first interview! On the show is Justin Renquist of the Superdelegates Task Force Army? What? Superdelegates? Who are they and why do I care? You care because Hillary has done so much backroom dealing that she has a VASTLY larger group of these special delegates who DO NOT HAVE TO VOTE by the will of the people! How to fight them? By letting them know we're watching and, as most of them are elected officials, we can vote them out of office! Justin tells us how to get involved. Dr. K. points out that even in the shadow of the Laquan MacDonald murder, although Martin O'Malley and Bernie were there, Hillary skipped the Black Lives Matter candidates forum. (Or is she in the GOP now? They all gave it a pass, except for Ben Carson.) Oh, and Hillary snubs MoveOn.org, too. Dr. K.'s theory? With so many superdelegates spoken for, Hillary  feels she can coast to the nomination. It's time to get involved, and make Hillary FEEL THE BERN!
