Yes! You are in. Confession, procrastination is an area of struggle for me. It is. My biggest holes dug have been via procrastination and pride. Here you go...If you dig that opening hook that is Marcus Rogers, Best Life. Please buy his music.Word! Pastor Ricky Jenkins is that Play of the Day. Southwest Church, Indian Wells, Ca. That came from YouTube and you can find it at the link below (in the episode description) or simply search "What Would Jesus Say to the Procrastinator", March 24, 2025.https://youtu.be/MI2gNwBp_qk?si=ojDCx6ZvSyhq51x8If that resonates, I highly recommend you listen to the rest of it. Well, one thing I learned is that I'm not alone. You all procrastinate somewhere. Yes, some do better than others. Yet take a look in the mirror (health, marriage, a strained family relationship, Faith, obeying God?). Think about it. You have a weak spot somewhere. Otherwise, you would be perfect and don't need Jesus Christ. Yet, I know you do via Rom 3:23 and your flawed nature. Now, I bet you are really good and proactive at some things. For example, health comes super easy to me. I exercise just about every day. I eat healthy almost every day. I fast often. I can control my food and liquid intake. How about you? So you are procrastinating somewhere.Where do I stumble? Finances. I've been clear on that over this podcact. Accounting for me is like eating spinach for some of you. So I'm taking Pastor Ricky's advice. I'm starting with a little bit or step each day. So far, this week, I've done it. I've already done more about my procrastination then I have in a long time. By taking little, baby steps.Where do you need to improve? What have you been delaying? Who do you need to talk to? Write it down. Challenge yourself a little bit 6 out of 7 days per week.James 4:17 - Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. New Living TranslationMan that verse cuts. I don't share it as a guilt check as much as a reality check. We all have room for improvement. Also, be free in knowing we all have room for improvement. And then honor your Abba and say ok, here is where I'm going to start at better. Please God, here is my area, guide me.Lastly, whatever you are trying to do, do it with love. Love God, Love Others. Matt 22: 36-40. Everything else you are trying to do...even overcoming procrastination hangs on doing those two commandments first, loving God. Loving Others. Doing what you know you should be doing is loving God.
One of my favorite places in the world is the Coachella Valley. Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells. The valley is thriving as new residents move in, the are is mountainous and arid desert blended in an oasis of mixed architectural styles blended with cultural influence from music to fashion and everything in between. I love the Coachella Valley because as a teenager, I would go to Palm Springs for spring break. Something then mayor, Sonny Bono did not care fore and eventually drove us out. Then it was the architecture, followed by Coachella Music Festival combined with Stagecoach. La Quinta Resort remains my personal favorite place to recharge and reflect. It's no secret that the church at large faces a major shortage of qualified pastors and ministry leaders. This affects all areas from the senior/lead role, student and kids ministry, and even prospective church planters. Thankfully, some churches are responding to this trend by creating in-house residency opportunities. One of those is Southwest Church in Indian Wells, CA. In this episode, Residency Director Young Song shares the vision and details of how they plan to train the next generation of pastors by offering paid positions along with formal seminary education. If you or someone you know are interested in this opportunity, or if you want to create your own residency program, check out their website or reach out to Young directly at residency@southwestchurch.com.

This week, we're diving into the antitrust lawsuit brought by the PTPA against the tennis ‘cartel.' The wide-ranging complaint takes aim at prize money, scheduling, ranking points, anti-doping, and what they broadly view as anticompetitive and illegal activity by the tennis governing bodies. What does the PTPA hope to gain? Which parts make sense, and which leave us with some skepticism? Is unionization a goal, and if so, is it even possible? After spending most of the episode breaking down the major issues in the lawsuit, we hop over to Miami, where all 4 male Indian Wells semifinalists have crashed out, Rafa Nadal Academy grads are making waves, and Djokovic is hobnobbing with the Establishment. 0:55 PTPA files an antitrust lawsuit in three countries - first up, yes we know it doesn't technically matter, but why these plaintiffs? 06:55 What are the allegations? 24:15 What is the desired outcome? 28:05 Is unionization possible (and is it even a goal)? 36:10 What works and what doesn't 40:05 The parallels with LIV Golf 46:00 Crashing out in Miami 55:00 You are the company you keep

(00:00) Golf, March Madness, and Match Play This chapter kicks off with a lively discussion about March Madness, with hopes and bets on whether the Indiana Hoosiers will make it past the bubble stage. There's some light-hearted banter about the need for better coaching and players for Indiana, reminiscing about their past glory days. The conversation then shifts to a humorous anecdote from the Approach Shot podcast featuring Michael Floyd, a former NFL player, who claims to hit his driver 400 yards. We explore the intricacies of such claims, touching on the challenges of controlling high-speed drives and the importance of precise club face positioning. Additionally, the chapter briefly mentions the specialized equipment used in long drive competitions, highlighting how they are designed to minimize spin for maximum distance. (13:06) Mental Strategy in Match Play Golf This chapter explores the psychological strategies employed in match play golf, emphasizing the importance of playing the opponent rather than just the course. We discuss various tactics such as creating pressure by not conceding putts, leveraging the advantage of being the first to reach the green, and using the mental state of the opponent to one's benefit. The conversation touches on the subtle art of maintaining a mental edge through seemingly simple actions, like practicing a putt after it's been conceded, to build confidence and unsettle the opponent. Additionally, we highlight the balance between mental games and pure skill, ultimately asserting that good golf skills are irreplaceable. This insightful discussion offers a glimpse into the mind games that complement the physical aspect of golf, with an understanding that both play crucial roles in winning matches. (21:45) The Beauty of Match Play Golf This chapter explores the engaging and competitive world of match play golf, emphasizing its unique appeal, especially during adverse weather conditions where winning a hole is all that matters. We discuss the prominence of match play in the Ryder Cup and its commonality in Europe, where four-ball matches are the norm, and how playing with uneven groups can be challenging. The conversation also touches on cultural experiences, such as playing golf in Scotland, and highlights the enjoyment of adapting to the local customs, including forming a "four ball" and joining other players for a round. Alongside the golf discussion, there's a light-hearted reflection on the host's relocation to Indian Wells, California, the diverse community there, and a nostalgic mention of attending a Styx concert, contrasting the youthful vibe of the Coachella music festival. (34:43) Navigating the Challenges of Alternate Shot This chapter takes us through the dynamics and challenges of playing alternate shot format in golf, highlighting the importance of camaraderie and mutual understanding between partners. We explore the mental pressures unique to this format, emphasizing the added emotional burden of playing not just for oneself, but also to avoid disappointing a partner. The conversation touches on how golf is as much a mental game as it is physical, often bringing about emotional responses, particularly in high-stakes settings like junior tournaments. We discuss the importance of focusing on personal achievements rather than solely on competitive outcomes, acknowledging that individual progress can be overshadowed by the broader competitive context. Additionally, we reflect on the intricacies of golf handicaps and the potential misunderstandings they can create, underscoring the need for a balanced perspective on personal performance in the sport. (44:05) Exploring Match Play Golf Variations This chapter focuses on the exciting ways to enhance your golf experience through different game formats. We explore the benefits of incorporating match play into your routine, emphasizing how it encourages strategic thinking and personal growth. Additionally, we discuss the intriguing concept of playing worst ball, where you tackle challenges by playing your least favorable shots. By alternating between worst ball and best ball on different holes, you can create a dynamic and engaging game, almost like a personal scramble. These variations promise to bring fun and improvement to your golf outings.
