Mulder and Scully are investigating a man who apparently survived his own decapitation. How'd he do it? And is Scully very sick?
This week we are up to our ass in alligators while we discuss “Leonard Betts”! We're talking about why nobody in Wisconsin watched this episode, the out-of-character decision for Mulder to not be into goo, the gnarly practical effects (Thanks, Toby!), our new favorite character Grexit, really upsetting plot revelations, and the simplicity of “I'm sorry, but you have something I need”. We ensure that Vince Gilligan will never listen to the pod by doing some awful impressions for a while, complain about Chuck: the king of digital images, wonder whether freak snakes eat their own skin, and do some Superbowl scene setting. And finally: Leonard Butts? Is this anything? Anyone? Anyone? No?Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Twitter and Instagram!
Season 4, Episode 12: “Leonard Betts” Imagine Wolverine as the Headless Horseman but without a horse or a pumpkin or claws and not really the best he is at what he does... unless it's EMT stuff. He seems pretty good at that. Also more weird Mother-Son stuff. An EMT is decapitated during an ambulance crash and then his body is stolen from the morgue. Mulder and Scully find the head in the medical waste bin, but it doesn't show any signs of decomposition and blinks at Scully when she tries to cut it open. Mulder finds evidence that Betts went home to his apartment–after he died. He believes Leonard Betts has the power to regenerate, while Scully thinks there must be a more logical explanation. Josh and Dean dive into the morality of what a cancer eating monster man could be, and to absolutely no one's surprise, they compare this weeks antagonist to a vampire. “El Mundo Gira” is a much less competent riff on “Jose Chung’s From Outer Space”, whereas “Leonard Betts” is a much more competent riff on “Squeeze”. Also! Scully has cancer, apparently. iTunes RSS
