This week we are chasing alien cults across the Canadian border while we discuss “Providence”! We're talking Doggett sleeping his way through this entire episode, wondering why on earth Skinner sucks so badly now, shake our heads at everyone suddenly converting to Christianity out of nowhere, lament that Reyes has nothing to do these days, and marvel at the fact that somehow, through it all, Brad is the only one in the cast keeping it real. How did this happen? We posit that Baby William is the Boss Baby prophesied in scripture, wonder if Mulder is finally fulfilling Clyde Bruckman's prophecy, figure that Father McCue is somehow to blame for all of this, and struggle to understand what exactly the show is saying about aliens and religion these days. Does anyone understand? I'm Episcopalian! I don't get it!Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Instagram!

Peter Boyle guest stars in probably the best episode yet! Produced by Kristen Riley and Daive Reed Follow on Twitter @CastFiles Email us at TheeCastFiles@gmail.com https://www.teepublic.com/user/the-cast-files Music by Hal Six Logo by @OokaArt SHOW NOTES: As of 2022, this is the highest-rated episode of the series! Unfortunately, I forgot to write down where I referenced that! It doesn't matter though, because I agree so let's just say I rated it. Peter Boyle is rad. The humor in this episode is everything. I don't have much extra here. A bit on Chantilly lace and some trivia notes, but mostly it was just a fun episode all 'round. Xx Kristen

Scully and Mulder are called into the investigation of a series of murders where the victims were all psychics of some sort. A tea leaf reader, tarot card reader and palm reader are all the apparent victims of a serial killer. The local police have brought in a well-known TV psychic that Mulder finds laughable. He does come across Clyde Bruckman, an insurance salesman who may be a genuine psychic. While Scully is appropriately skeptical, Mulder realizes that Bruckman can only see one thing - how people will die. It’s Stephen’s 2nd pick: ‘The General,’ the 1926 film directed by Buster Keaton and Clyde Bruckman – and of course also starring Buster Keaton. It’s an action comedy set during the Civil War and largely centered around a stolen train and plenty of stunt work and it’s been on Sight & Sound magazine’s decennial poll of the “greatest films” twice – at #8 in 1972, then at #10 in 1982. What episode of your favorite TV show would you show your best friend to get them into it? For Stella Cheeks, it's the Star Trek TOS episode "City On The Edge Of Forever" and for Erin Cline, it's the X-Files episode "Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose." It's the first episode of X-Treks. Will Erin & Stella like each other's favorite show? Or is this podcast doomed from the start? (Spoiler: It's not doomed.) --- About the podcast: Erin Cline and Stella Cheeks have been friends for over a decade, but have never seen each other’s favorite TV show. Seeking to rectify that grievous error (seriously, they used to live together), X-Treks was born! Each week the duo choose one episode from Star Trek: The Original Series and one episode from The X-Files that fits a previously chosen cinematic theme, watch them together, and share their feelings! Alongside producer Bobby Hoffman, they discuss their first impressions, how the episodes fit into the larger fan lore, and fascinating behind the scenes facts. --- Follow The X-Treks Crew Twitter: @X-TreksPod @Stella_Cheeks @Haberdasher9k Instagram: @NYDErnGenC Support us on Patreon at patreon.com/nydproductions

The Super Bowl of the Podcasting year. It's Draft Week! Chibby and Pat stop by to talk about who is under the most pressure coming into the 2020 season, and play a little "Who's Got Heem?" Clyde Bruckman hosts the annual game show. And Grant Seanor stops by to break down his mock draft, and play the newest game, sweeping the nation "He's Got Whom?" Happy Draftmas everyone.
New episode! We cover season 3, episode 4 of The X-Files, “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose”. Please heed the trigger warnings in this time of heightened anxiety! They’re listed at the end of this description. We discuss this critically-acclaimed episode of the 90’s phenomenon, and cover how it gave us childhood flashbacks, how shocking it feels that it was filmed 25 years ago, how we individually experience deja vu, get into how time is or is not linear, and ponder coincidence vs destiny. Katy gets the Wilson brothers mixed up, Carrie doesn’t like aliens but has watched the most X-Files of all of us, Maddy tells a gross squirrel story and Mack remembers Steve Martin in places he never was. We also discuss the amazing ‘David Duchovny’ music video set to Bree Sharp’s brilliant song, commend Scully for utilizing the door peephole, argue about what a Nazi stormtrooper is, and remind you we are a dog family. And in a weirdly prescient moment, especially concerning this was an episode about psychics, Maddy gives a timely warning to WASH YOUR HANDS, even though we recorded in September 2019! Take an hour away from everything and listen to us only crosstalk a little bit. TW: Suicide, depression, gore, possible rape, death and mortality
In this free episode of FMIAM our hosts are joined by James Urbaniak & Drew Grant to discuss a quite-iconic episode feature psychic powers and the kidnapping of Peter Boyle.

The original action star, Buster Keaton, at it again in what might be his all-time biggest spectacle. 1927’s “The General” still boasts practical stunts that will leave you floored and cringing as Keaton goes on a high-speed chase to save the Woman and Steam Engine he loves. Hop onboard The General with Dax & Adam, and see why almost every action star to follow, from Jackie Chan to Harrison Ford, would go on to draw inspiration from the seemingly immortal director and star. Matthew Dessem spent years observing the behind-the-scenes reality of Hollywood, so it's only natural that his book, The Gag Man, would take us behind the scenes of an essential collaborator to silent and sound comedians who all but disappeared behind the name of the stars. In this latest episode of the podcast, Dessem traces his movie upbringing to his eventual project searching through every piece of the Criterion canon, and eventually to his interest in exploring the legends of Hollywood that never made it, whether a screenplay or a collaboration. The two then go in depth on his new biography of Clyde Bruckman, a man with legendary credits but no legend until now. Finally, the two switch to a different legend, Brad Pitt's turn as the notorious outlaw and Casey Affleck as the man who shot him in The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford, which both embraces the mythology of the classic American genre, while also exposing it at its most ugly. 0:00-2:24 Opening 3:24-9:51 Establishing Shots - Mistress America 10:36-47:26 Deep Focus - Matthew Dessem 48:35-50:48 Mubi Sponsorship 51:42-1:08:37 Double Exposure - The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford (Andrew Dominick) 1:08:40-1:10:40 Close / Outtake
