In this episode, we speak with Carl, one of our podcast co-hosts, about his deeply reflective article, ‘Normal or numb – that is the question, but what is the answer!' Carl shares the personal experience that inspired the piece, attending a call to a deceased patient, which triggered a cascade of questions about emotional detachment, coping strategies, and the long-term impact of repeated exposure to trauma in paramedicine. We unpack the central dilemma: are we becoming resilient or simply numb? Carl reflects on the gradual shift in his emotional responses and the silent build-up of stress that so many frontline clinicians experience. We explore how this detachment can protect us in the short term but risks leading to burnout, fractured personal lives, and professional disengagement. The conversation also delves into the importance of early recognition, peer support, and thoughtful leadership responses. Carl's reflections have also been transcribed into an AI-narrated blog post so that you can listen to his story word-for-word.This is a powerful and honest conversation about the emotional cost of the job and an urgent call to reflect before the pressure boils over. This episode is brought to you by IndieBase.IndieBase is the smart, simple, and budget-friendly Electronic Patient Record (EPR) system designed specifically for the demands of HEMS and pre-hospital care. CarlBetts, a co-host of this podcast, authored a reflective piece titled "Where Critical Analysis Becomes Critically Unhealthy," published in 2023 in the College of Paramedics' Hindsight magazine. In this episode, we delve into Carl's motivations for writing the article and examine its central themes. The piece discusses how critical analysis, while an essential skill, can become counterproductive when it slips into harsh self-appraisal, leading to emotional disequilibrium and eroding clinician confidence. We unpack how debriefs and reflective practices must be thoughtfully structured to include both challenge and affirmation, creating space for growth without causing harm. Using real clinical examples, Carl helps illustrate where reflection can go wrong and how to avoid those pitfalls. We also discuss the importance of reframing difficult experiences to support a net positive impact on clinicians, and how critical feedback, whether from oneself or others, can be damaging if not delivered constructively. The episode outlines practical strategies, including reframing techniques, to make reflection a healthier, more sustainable process. To bring Carl's insights to life, we've transcribed his original article into an AI-narrated blog post, allowing you to listen to the word-for-word reflections from his piece, offering another way to engage deeply with his message. Welcome to Episode 100 of Tablesetters! Devin and Steve are back for a milestone edition of the show, covering all things baseball as the 2025 season hits its stretch run. We open with Commissioner Rob Manfred's bold comments during the Little League Classic broadcast, where he floated the possibility of realignment if Major League Baseball expands to 32 teams. Nashville, Salt Lake City, and Portland headline the list of suitors, but the bigger question is structural : could MLB really abandon the American and National Leagues in favor of East and West conferences? We dig into what that vision would mean for rivalries, travel, TV money, and October itself. From there, we turn to Los Angeles, where the Dodgers swept the Padres in a pivotal series that flipped the NL West standings. Entering the weekend a game behind, the Dodgers turned it into a two-game lead by Sunday, while securing the season tiebreaker that could decide the division. Freeman, Betts, and rookie Andy Pages carried the bats, Glasnow and the bullpen delivered on the mound, and L.A. reminded everyone why they've owned this rivalry for years. The Little League Classic brought baseball back to its roots in Williamsport, and the Mets gave it a storybook moment. Mark Vientos slid down the Lamade Field hill with kids before blasting a three-run homer under the lights, his 12th of the year, sparking a win over the Mariners. With Francisco Lindor and Francisco Álvarez leading the offense, New York finally strung together back-to-back wins for the first time in weeks. In Philadelphia, the headlines are colliding: Zack Wheeler's blood clot diagnosis deals a massive blow to the Phillies' rotation, Aaron Nola's shaky return raises questions about whether he can step into the ace role, and Alec Bohm's bat gave the lineup a needed spark. What does it mean for their World Series hopes? It was also a week defined by young talent. Nolan McLean debuted for the Mets with eight strikeouts and a highlight-reel defensive play, Samuel Basallo and Dylan Beavers joined the Orioles' endless pipeline, and top prospect Konnor Griffin jumped to Double-A. We break down what these moves mean for contenders and rebuilders alike. The Brewers' 14-game winning streak came to an end, but their run underscored everything that makes them dangerous heading into October: depth, resilience, and a chemistry that's built for a pennant chase. Meanwhile, questions swirl in Arizona as Ketel Marte's future comes under scrutiny despite another All-Star caliber season, while Geraldo Perdomo steps in as both teammate and defender. And in Houston, the Astros await the return of Yordan Álvarez, whose rehab assignment comes just as the division lead shrinks to a single game. And of course, we'll check in on the league's hottest and coldest bats as the playoff picture sharpens.

My guest for this episode is Hannah Betts, Hollywood Stuntwoman, Professional Skydiver and more. If you watched the Superbowl this year, you saw Hannah land in a cruise ship swimming pool after jumping out of a helicopter. She shares some of the behind-the-scenes magic from that commercial, as well as some of the scarier stunts she's done for other shows and movies. She's had a number of scary things happen in her career – and the way she embraces things not going right is inspiring. In our conversation, we deeply explored the topic of fear from angles rarely talked about. Hannah has been to the other side of fear, and she's bringing back the wisdom she's earned to help the rest of us in our own journeys see fear as a companion, not an enemy. Here's what Hannah has to say about herself: Hannah Betts has worn many bold titles—Outdoor Adventure Sports Instructor, Police Officer, Professional Skydiver, and now, Hollywood Stuntwoman. Beyond the risk and achievement lies a deeper journey—one of confronting fear and vulnerability head-on, rising above comparison, and letting go of the expectations to live a 'conventional life'. Despite what it may look like from the outside, fear walks with her every day. She just doesn't let it lead. Hannah's mission is to empower others to do the same - to lean into fear rather than run from it. Through the power of her story, she helps others break free from what holds them back, unfreeze the parts of life that feel out of reach, and boldly step into their unique potential.
From rookie agent to revenue powerhouse, Barb Betts built her business on one thing—relationships. In this episode, she shares with Alice Heiman the exact system CEOs can use to turn their network into a sales engine. Stop chasing leads and start building trust that scales.

The Padres and Dodgers concluded their 10th game in two weeks in spectacular fashion with Xander Bogaerts lifting the club and Ryan Bergert delivering a great effort in his 8th game in MLB.ALLLLL that was overshadowed in the top of the 9th however. After Dave Roberts pulled Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman from a still-competitive 5-0 game, Fernando Tatis Jr was hit by Dodgers pitching for the 3rd time in 9 games. Mike Shildt came on the field and called Roberts out, then Roberts rushed in and gave Mike a forearm shiver, sending both benches onto the field. The Padres failed to add to their 5 run lead and Sean Reynolds immediately got into trouble in the bottom half of the frame. Robert Suarez was called in to save the game with two on and one out. He allowed a RBI single and an RBI ground out, setting the stage for Shohei Ohtani to come up with the tying run on deck. Suarez through 3 balls, then hit Ohtani right between the numbers and was promptly ejected. Yuki Matsui came in, threw a run scoring wild pitch and walked Betts' replacement, bring the winning run to the plate. Yuki brought him to a full count before throwing a 92 MPH fastball past rookie Daulton Rushing, securing a win for the Friars in an instant classic.Chris, Raphie and Craig discuss the madness in this free for all Group Therapy.

Mike "C-Roc" welcomes mindset and mental wealth coach Kaylor Betts for an unfiltered, deeply introspective conversation about personal transformation, self-awareness, and doing the hard work required to reach your highest self. Kaylor opens up about his battle with anxiety, depression, and the daily struggle to even get out of bed—a time in his life marked by unconscious decision-making and emotional pain masked by comfort-seeking behaviors. But everything changed when he had what he calls an “awakening”—a realization that he is not the stories in his mind, but the observer of those thoughts. Drawing inspiration from Viktor Frankl, Peter Crone, and Tony Robbins, Kaylor shares how reclaiming that space between stimulus and response helped him break free from destructive patterns and take full ownership of his life. Together, Kaylor and Mike "C-Roc" explore the power of binary decision-making, the importance of aligning daily choices with long-term values, and how choosing the hard path often leads to true liberation. Raw, real, and thought-provoking, this episode is a must-listen for anyone ready to wake up, take control, and build a life worth getting out of bed for.Website-https://theawbiz.com/ Social Media Links/Handles-https://www.instagram.com/awakeandwinning/?hl=en / https://www.instagram.com/thekaylorbetts/?hl=en

Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner talk MLB betting for Friday. Best bets as always. Munaf Manji and Griffin Warner preview the MLB Friday slate on RJ Bell's Dream Preview. They open by discussing the Orioles' recent 9-2 stretch despite being 11 games under .500, and Minnesota's past long winning streak. Griffin reflects on Moneyball's low ranking on his movie list and praises Pete Crow-Armstrong of the Cubs. In the Phillies vs. Pirates matchup, Joe Ross starts for Philly as an opener while Bailey Falter, performing solidly for Pittsburgh, starts for the Pirates. Both agree under 9 runs is the best angle due to limited offensive firepower from Pittsburgh and Ross's limited innings. Next, Texas faces Washington with Patrick Corbin vs. Michael Soroka. Corbin has stabilized while Soroka battles recurring injuries. Griffin likes Nationals ML and over 9.5, noting Nationals' young talent and the weather boosting offense. Munaf supports first 5 over and Nationals' team total over, citing Texas' poor 9-20 road record. In Red Sox vs. Yankees, Walker Buehler faces Will Warren. Boston's bats have struggled, while Warren allowed 7 ER in his last outing. Both predict an over 9 outcome, expecting Rafael Devers to homer and citing both teams' bullpen issues. The Diamondbacks visit Cincinnati with Eduardo Rodriguez vs. Nick Lodolo. Rodriguez has allowed 13 ER over his last 3 starts with control issues. Lodolo's 4-4 record and 3.10 ERA give Griffin confidence in the Reds. Munaf favors Reds ML and sees plenty of scoring. Astros travel to Cleveland with Colton Gordon vs. Logan Allen. Allen's lefty matchup gives the right-handed Astros lineup an edge, but Munaf remains cautious due to Houston's late travel. Griffin would take Astros at plus money, considering Cleveland's competitiveness. Kansas City faces the White Sox with Seth Lugo vs. Davis Martin. Lugo has dominated the White Sox historically, allowing just 3 ER over 29.1 IP. Munaf strongly supports Royals RL, citing Lugo's recent success against Chicago, while Griffin leans over 8. The Padres visit Milwaukee with Randy Vasquez vs. Chad Patrick. Vasquez's control issues and HR susceptibility concern both hosts. Griffin makes Brewers ML -142 his best bet, citing Milwaukee's base-stealing prowess and San Diego's fatigue after extra-inning games. Munaf adds Brewers first 5 team total over. Dodgers face Cardinals with Justin Robleski vs. Sonny Gray. Injuries to Betts and Freeman concern both. Griffin trusts Gray as a home underdog, noting St. Louis' bullpen depth. Munaf supports Over 8.5, expecting offensive production from both sides. The Mets visit Colorado with Kodai Senga vs. Antonio Senzatela. Senzatela enters 1-10 with a 7.14 ERA and 1.98 WHIP. Munaf makes Mets team total Over 6.5 his best bet, expecting New York's offense to dominate at Coors Field. Griffin acknowledges Rockies' rare 3-game win streak but avoids backing them. Seattle travels to Anaheim with Bryce Miller facing Kyle Hendricks. Miller's bone spur has altered his delivery, making Griffin favor the Angels ML, citing their hot bats and rest advantage. Munaf agrees, backing the Angels and runs scored. In San Francisco, Braves' Spencer Schwellenbach faces Giants' Hayden Birdsong. Schwellenbach has 22 Ks in his last two starts, but Griffin trusts Birdsong and Giants' bullpen, backing the under 7.5 and Giants ML. Munaf echoes this, emphasizing both pitchers' strong form. They close with Griffin taking Brewers ML as his best bet and Munaf locking in Mets team total Over 6.5. They promote pregame.com with a STRIKE20 discount code for picks packages. In this follow-up episode of Great Practice, Great Life, Steve Riley welcomes back guest Barb Betts for a deeper dive into a powerful idea: the confidence to build a thriving law practice begins with embracing your authentic self. For lawyers, authenticity isn't just a buzzword—it's a strategic advantage that drives client trust, firm growth, and personal satisfaction. Barb shares her powerful concept of “17 moments”—life-changing events like teenage pregnancy and severe hair loss—that taught her to stop hiding and stand in her truth. These moments are critical for attorneys, revealing the resilience and identity needed to navigate complex legal challenges. By reflecting on your own “17 moments,” you can show up as a confident expert, not a performer, in client meetings and courtrooms. Barb offers practical strategies for building a law firm with confidence: Price with Confidence: Stop people-pleasing and charge what your expertise is worth. Barb explains how underpricing stems from self-doubt, a common trap for solo attorneys. Be the Expert, Not a Performer: Clients hire you to solve problems they can't, from divorces to business disputes. Authenticity builds trust and fosters loyal client relationships. Embrace Self-Doubt: Imposter syndrome signals growth. Use it to refine your approach and strengthen your practice. Align Practice with Purpose: Authenticity creates a rewarding practice and a balanced life, fulfilling the Great Practice, Great Life ethos. This episode offers actionable insights to overcome self-doubt, stand firm in your value, and build a thriving practice. Tune in to learn how building a law firm with confidence transforms your client relationships, pricing strategy, and life.
