This week, we continue our literary theme with part two (See part one here) of a showcase of the stories that came out of a collaboration between All the Best and WestWords. This week's stories in this episode deal with space beyond and within us. Whether it is literally outer space or the complexities of navigating an emotional space. Here by Siham Dalila Our first story begins with navigating the complexity of inner emotional spaces. It features a woman trapped somewhere between reality and a dreamscape. And she is forced to make a decision about which reality she wants to stay in and which one she wants to escape from. Written and performed by Siham Dalila Production and Sound Design by Felicity Weaver. From Beyond the Karman Line by Myra A Our second story takes us to outer space. When the first female astronaut to undertake a solo mission is sent to the moon, she finds solace in recording her own voice clips. But alone and far from earth, she is forced to confront a haunting past. Written and performed by Myra A. Produced by Kwame Slusher Sound Design by Thomas Lu. Octo by Tabitha Laffernis Our third and final story takes us into that space of unrequited love. Too many legs. Too many eyes. Too many feelings. Unrequited love hurts, but interspecies unrequited love hurts harder. A spider falls for her housemate, hoping that one day her housemate will see her. To snowy Ontario, Canada for our 2026 Christmas Special! Living out the dream of countless exhausted women, Laura Lee Davidson retreated to an island in the middle of a lake, and lived there alone through a long Canadian winter. But she wasn't really alone. Wild creatures became her friends, and she was constantly the recipient of neighborly kindness from folks on the mainland. Laura Lee's 1922 book about her winter on the island is now considered a classic of Canadian literature, and a vivid portrait of time gone by. Katie reads some of her favorite excerpts from the book, and we all tag along with Laura Lee Davidson, retreating into a remote winter solitude, and marveling at the wonders of nature. ___________________________________ Find Laura Lee Davidson's A Winter of Content HERE, or read a digital copy HERE. Unrequited love can take down even the most capable, confident women, and Hilary is done watching smart, high-achieving women lose themselves over someone who can't meet them where they are. This episode is a call back to your power, especially in those moments when your mind is spinning, your heart is hopeful, and the person you want isn't choosing you back. Hilary dives into the shame, the second-guessing, and the quiet panic that shows up when you start making someone else's behavior mean something about your worth. She offers a clearer way to see what's really happening, why these patterns feel so magnetic, and what becomes possible when you stop interpreting someone's “no” as proof that you're not enough. Instead of chasing, contorting, or holding on to hope that never turns into reality, Hilary invites you to be honest with yourself: would you want this person if fear wasn't making the decisions? She shares the shifts that helped her stop abandoning herself in dating, including the seven things she quit while she was single that opened her up to real love. If you're ready to step out of the spiral and back into self-respect, this episode is your starting place. Episode Highlights: Why unrequited love hits even the strongest women The subtle ways self-abandonment shows up in dating The lock-and-key truth that makes dating cleaner and calmer The questions that reveal whether someone is actually right for you The seven things Hilary quit that opened the door to real love Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Celebrating Women and the Pain of Unrequited Love 03:03 Understanding Self-Worth and Rejection 05:50 The Key and Lock Analogy in Relationships 09:07 Quitting Behaviors That Sabotage Love 17:58 Embracing Your Innate Worthiness ✨ I'm Hilary Silver, LCSW, former psychotherapist turned master coach and founder of Ready for Love. It's beginning to look a lot like chaos, Trawlers! In this 'starting to feel' festive-but-feral episode, Jemma and Marina wade through glitter explosions, Christmas tree catastrophes and a BBC News bauble-gate blooper before heading straight into the most unexpected love story of the season: Donald Trump going full heart-eyes for New York's new Mayor-elect, Zohran Mamdani. What was meant to be an explosive Oval Office showdown somehow turned into a political rom-com, complete with cheesy poses and Trump posting Mamdani like a teenage crush. We unpack the memes, the madness and the moment Trump's ego got speared by Cupid. But don't get too cosy because from there it's back to the grim stuff: Trump resharing posts calling for Democrats to be hung, a “peace plan” for Ukraine that appears to have been written in Moscow, Europe's furious backlash, and the Kremlin fingerprints smeared all over MAGA's online army.Plus a bang-on satirical closer from Alex With Pen.It's festive, furious and fully unhinged - exactly how you like it. Mailbag!! George and Laurie answer questions from the Foreplay Fam in this week's episode! They're talking all about unrequited fantasies, compromise, and vulnerability. Sexual fantasies are extremely common; in fact only 4% of men and 14% of women report NOT having fantasies. A listener talks about a fantasy of an old lover and not being able to get it out of her head. While this one may be a block to emotional connection, fantasies can also be mined for good information about what turns us on. And some partners feel comfortable and like sharing their sexual fantasies as a way to grow learn and get aroused with each other. Sexual improvement requires vulnerability and willingness to talk about your sexual needs. Discuss with your partner what they are comfortable with and address any of their concerns. Compromise is important in any relationship. While we want people to feel respected sometimes we might do something for tour partner out of love in order to just make our partner happy. It's all about communicating these things! Listen to this week's mailbag episode now to hear more of your questions answered! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Adam Cable (b. 1989) creates vignettes of American domestic life using found digital images. His work entwines perception and narratives into the reconstruction of these environments, highlighting ways that impressions and expectations inform experiences of space. These compositions blur the lines between picture and collage by overlaying keyword-sourced materials onto component shapes. Challenging the conventional idea of “home” as a blank canvas, Cable presents it as a complex space influenced by countless factors. Even seemingly static forms become imbued with emotions and meanings through the images he incorporates, reflecting the intricate dance between social norms and cultural values in our everyday surroundings. Cable has shown in several group and solo exhibitions, including at the Amos Eno Gallery project space, NYC; The Painting Center, NYC; University of North Carolina, Asheville; PULSE Art Fair, Miami; Local Project, NYC; and The Plaxall Gallery, NYC. At the end of 2020, he co-curated "Annus Horribilis" with Float Magazine, a group exhibition of work created that globally significant year, while in 2021, The Wassaic Project included his work in the book Secrets of the Friendly Woods. Cable holds an MFA from the School of Visual Arts (2017) and a BFA from the University of North Carolina, Asheville (2013). He lives and works in Brooklyn NY. Back in the early 80s, divorce lawyer to the stars (and Trashy Divorces alum) Marvin Mitchelson took on the biggest case of his career - and one that seems to have gotten away from him a bit. Sheika Dena al Fassi, the wife of Saudi businessman (and Saudi royal family member) Mohammed al Fassi, was filing for divorce, and estimates of Mohammed's fortune ran as high as $3 billion. On the one hand, Dena won the divorce case handily. On the other, Mohammed had long since left the United States with their four children and had no intention of paying the settlement that a California court ordered. Even decades later - even decades after both Mohammad and Marvin Mitchelson had died - Dena was still trying to collect on a divorce settlement that grew into the hundreds of millions of dollars through the magic of compound interest. Part 1 It's Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han Summary"It's Not Summer Without You" is the second book in Jenny Han's "Summer" series, which follows the life of Isabel “Belly” Conklin as she navigates her complicated feelings for her longtime crush, Jeremiah Fisher, and his brother, Conrad. The story picks up after the events of the first book. Belly has spent a summer in the past at the beach house belonging to the Fishers, but this time it's different. The summer is overshadowed by the sudden passing of Belly's mother, as well as the deepening emotional turmoil between Belly, Jeremiah, and Conrad. At the beginning of the book, Belly feels lost without her mother and struggles with her grief. She has been harboring feelings for Conrad, who has pushed her away, leaving her heartbroken. As the narrative progresses, we see Belly trying to deal with her conflicted emotions and her relationships with both brothers. Jeremiah, who represents friendship and comfort, tends to be more openly affectionate and supportive, while Conrad embodies a more complicated, brooding persona that causes Belly more pain due to his emotional distance. The setting of the beach house serves as a backdrop for Belly's journey of self-discovery and healing. The annual summer traditions are disrupted by the struggles the characters face, but they also provide moments of nostalgia and bittersweet memories as Belly reflects on her childhood and her relationships. As the story unfolds, Belly learns important lessons about love, loss, and the importance of moving forward in life. The book examines themes of family, friendship, and growing up, while Belly ultimately has to choose between the safety and friendship that Jeremiah offers and the intense but complicated love she shares with Conrad. Overall, "It's Not Summer Without You" is a heartfelt exploration of the challenges that accompany growing up, the pain of loss, and the complexity of teenage romance, setting the stage for the concluding book in the series.Part 2 It's Not Summer Without You AuthorJenny Han is an American author and the co-author of the popular young adult series "To All the Boys I've Loved Before." Wuv, Twue, Wuv. No, today's episode isn't about one of the greatest films ever made (The Princess Bride) but something I'm certain we've all experienced at least once in our life. Unrequited love. That ‘I like them but they haven't even noticed I'm in the same room' kinda thing. Chasing or loving someone that doesn't share the same warm & fuzzies is hard. Brutally hard, emotionally. And while we've all been there before, it still feels like ‘you're the only one'. Today, we talk about fishing (yup), our emotions and what to do when you toss the ball but it's never caught, much less thrown back. Grab a seat and let's find some healing as we Calm it Down in 3…2…1.
It's the very first of our Ko-Fi Member Selections and first up, from our good pal Ruddy Rutherford, is Therapy?'s 1994 release, Troublegum. The album was shortlisted for the 1994 Mercury Music Prize and is brand new to both Corey and Kev, so it was a brand new, fresh listen for both chaps! But what will Kev like a cover of a Joy Division song? Will Corey's North American rock sensibilities be challenged by a band from Norn Ireland? And where will the album finish in our overall rankings? The only way to find out is to turn on, tune in, and forget about that!Songs covered in this episode: "Knives", "Screamager", "Hellbelly", "Stop It You're Killing Me", "Nowhere", "Die Laughing", "Unbeliever", "Trigger Inside", "Lunacy Booth", "Isolation", "Turn", "Femtex", "Unrequited", "Brainsaw"Don't forget to follow us on social media and leave us a rating/review if you're enjoying the show!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/UltimateCatalogueClashBluesky: https://bsky.app/profile/ucatalogueclash.bsky.socialDiscord: https://discord.gg/76F8G8FEX8Ko-Fi: https://ko-fi.com/ultimatecatalogueclash Hosted on Acast. Unrequited love, also known as one-sided love, is when someone has romantic feelings or a strong desire to be close to another person, but that person doesn't feel the same way. If you have ever really cared bout someone, you know how hard it is when that love is not returned. How long do you hold on knowing that what you want or need is not fully fulfilled? At what point is enough enough? In this episode, I share a personal voice note expressing my unreciprocated feelings and set the hard boundary I've been so reluctant to address. I also shared a video on why some women unconsciously push serious men away from them. You can't control when someone is ready for you or even ready for themselves, and sometimes, that truth can be hard to swallow. This is a REPLAY from episode #15 taped back in 2020, when Brad Brock and I were both starting our own podcasts. Hopefully you hear a noticeable difference from then to now regarding the Drums and Rums show. It's was our first podcast recorded live outside out on the patio of the new Twisted Tuna in Jupiter, Florida. Big props to Brad for helping promote local music and helping keep the music scene in the south Florida area going.I'd like to thank our the Twisted Tuna owners Kenny and Rachelle for letting us take over the patio, Stephanie our server and the entire staff. Also thanks to fellow local musician Chris Springer, good friend to Brad and I as well as Johnny Ringo owner of Code Rum for sitting in on the podcast. What is your relationship with your father like? That's kind of a personal question, right? And for some people, it may be a topic they really don't enjoy discussing. Sometimes people who don't have a meaningful relationship with a father or father figure, struggle to grasp just how much God, our creator and provider, loves us. It can be challenging to develop a personal relationship with your Heavenly Father, if you've missed out on a positive bond with your father here on earth. Psalm 90:2 says, “Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the whole world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God.” God always was, and He always will be. He is everlasting, the creator of everything, including you, and He has a good plan for your life. If you've been hurt, disappointed, or abandoned by your earthly father, or you struggle to find common ground in that relationship, bring it to God. Unrequited love and family strife don't have to define your relationship with the Lord; He knows the burdens that you carry, and He legitimately wants to set you free from them, and to empower you to follow Him with a light heart and a renewed sense of joy. Every human being is a son or daughter of God, the constant source of strength, wisdom, and hope to Christians everywhere. 1 John 3:1 says, “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” Whether you were blessed with a loving, present father or your origin story is more complicated than that, you are a beloved child of God — and He has a plan for your life. God the Father sees us, knows us, and loves us — and He wants us to follow Him. God is constant; He never changes. We can depend on Him. God is faithful. Our Heavenly Father is an example for earthly fathers to follow. Ultimately, God is love. Let's pray. Heavenly Father, God—how blessed are we to be called your children. Help us to seek you, to listen for your voice, and to follow your commands. Your love and faithfulness gives us hope. It's in Jesus' name that we pray, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Save 15% Off your entire purchase of faith-based apparel + gifts at Kerusso.com with code KDD15.

Neoborn welcomes Andia back from her journey of setting up a sideline business creating holographic lighting wooden desktop logos with a laser cannon or so.She share the challenges of finding customers and gigs as an artist, too, just before they move on to Ricky Gervais, and the impact of their rather differing personal experiences on comedy. NC still believes in authenticity in art. Getting to one way ticket to the non-existent Uyghur camps in China? Neoborn Caveman attempts this impossible reality with something children and adults in the West equally can enjoy. They also talk about the challenges of being a public figure and the role of TikTok in artist discovery, with insights on the influence of background and support on success, the impact of gatekeepers on artists, the importance of intellectual property. And as practicing freedom-fighters in space (at least in the ether) they share about the dangers of inventing and speaking out, the control of food and agriculture, the problem with legal battles, the importance of learning from history, the overwhelming amount of information, trusting gut feelings and intuition, the need to transition to renewable energy, the impact of petrochemicals on the environment, the problem with consumerism. Luckily (some might though doubt it) the Battle of Jokes segment is back with some cultural takes and music live reviews of Like A Fool by Project Rod Williams and Hello by Big Bus Dream. All the extras, fun and chances to support the show are on our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/NeobornAndAndiaHumanShow Here are a few takeaways as appetizer:Setting up a sideline business can provide financial stability and creative fulfillment.Finding customers and gigs can be challenging, but local connections and personal outreach can be effective.Authenticity is important in comedy and art, and personal experiences can shape comedic material.Dealing with China can present ethical challenges due to government control and lack of royalties on platforms like TikTok.The role of TikTok in artist discovery can be both beneficial and limiting. HelloWelcome to Life Points with Ronda, the podcast that helps you navigate life's challenges with practical wisdom and actionable advice. where we discuss important topics that affect our everyday lives. Today, I'm speaking to the ladies and ladies our topic for today is: Being in Love with the Idea of Love: When His Heart Belongs to Another---In our relentless pursuit of happiness, we sometimes find ourselves drawn to the intoxicating notion of love. It's a beautiful, euphoric feeling that has the power to consume us, often blinding us to the reality of our relationships. This becomes particularly challenging when we find ourselves falling for someone whose heart belongs to another. In this episode, we'll delve into exploring the complexities of loving someone taken and the romanticized idea of love itself.**The Lure of Love**Love, in its purest form, is an exhilarating emotion. It's a feeling of being understood, cherished, and valued. It's the promise of a shared future, of companionship, and of a deep, emotional connection. But what happens when we fall in love with the idea of love more than the person themselves? Or worse yet, when the person we're in love with is emotionally unavailable because their heart is committed elsewhere? The idea of love can be incredibly seductive. It's often presented as a fairy-tale-like state of bliss, with grand gestures, passionate declarations, and happily-ever-after endings. In reality, love is much more complex and often more mundane. It involves compromise, understanding, patience, and a great deal of emotional investment. When we fall for the idea of love, we're often chasing an illusion that can distance us from genuine emotional connection and fulfillment.**The Heartache of Unrequited Love**Falling for someone who is emotionally or romantically unavailable is a painful experience. Unrequited love can be a lonely, isolating experience, filled with self-doubt, confusion, and heartache. When you love someone whose heart belongs to another, it's important to acknowledge the reality of the situation. While it's natural to hope for reciprocation, the truth is, you cannot make someone love you if their affections lie elsewhere.**The Path to Self-Discovery**If you find yourself in love with someone taken, it may be a valuable opportunity for self-reflection and growth. Ask yourself: Are you genuinely in love with the person, or are you more attracted to the idea of being in love? Are you seeking validation, companionship, or trying to fill a void in your life? Recognizing your emotional needs can help you understand your feelings better and guide you towards healthier relationships.**Finding Your Worth**Often, we fall for people we can't have because we're seeking validation. We may unconsciously believe that winning their love would prove our worthiness. However, it's important to remember that your worth is not determined by someone else's affections. You are deserving of love and respect regardless of your relationship status.**Navigating Forward**Being in love with someone who is unavailable can feel like an emotional rollercoaster, but it doesn't have to define you. Use this time to focus on self-care and self-love. Engage in activities that make you happy and fulfilled, surround yourself with supportive friends and famiSupport the showhttps://chat.openai.com/g/g-8E47AuJfB-life-points-assistanthttps://FaceBook.com/Lifepointswithronda1https://youtube.com/@lifepointswithronda2968https://TikTok.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Instagram.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Patreon.com/@lifepointswithrondahttps://Lifepointswithronda.com

We all want to feel significant. This drive for significance ultimately fuels our cognition, emotions, and actions. Distinguished psychologist Arie Kruglanski discusses motivation, cognition, goal systems, radicalization, and his recent work on the ubiquitous quest for significance. Dr. Arie W. Kruglanski PhD is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of Maryland. He directs a lab that studies human motivation as it affects thinking, feeling, and behavior. He is one of the leading voices in social psychology, being instrumental in understanding the motivation of uncertainty, goals, radicalization and most recently on our quest for significance. Arie has over 500 research papers and articles and has won numerous awards for his work. Arie explains to us that all human behavior is propelled by motivation, with motivation being the driving force behind cognition, emotions, and actions. He discusses how goals are represented cognitively but serve motivational needs. The conversation also touches on how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are not truly distinct, with all motivation coming from within but having different relationships to means and ends. A fascinating part of Arie's work is his research on radicalization. Having devised The 3 N Model of Radicalization, he expertly illustrates how our quest for significance can be misdirected into violent or suicidal behavior. But there is optimism in addressing radicalization through education and alternative significance pathways. Topics (4:34) Welcome to Arie and speed round questions. (6:06) The underlying thread through all of Arie's work. (12:21) Why people seek significance through violence. (15:51) How can individuals be radicalized to become suicide bombers? (19:40) The difference between basic needs and psychological needs. (25:30) All our goals go back to addressing our basic needs. (27:17) Why money is tied to significance (sometimes).
