BeforeI begin my chat in Luke 24, I'd like to ask for special prayer. This morning,I'll be driving to Roanoke, Virginia. From there, this afternoon my sonJonathan and I will catch a flight to Colorado to attend a graduation for two ofhis sons, Elijah and Jeriah, from a two-week Biblical World View Camp at the Summit. We'll also see my older sister Lynda, who is in a nursing home there in Denver. She retired from United Airlines several years ago and was able to giftJonathan and myself with the opportunity to fly free on United Airlines on standbyanywhere in the world for the last twenty plus years.ThenSaturday morning I will drive to Lynchburg Virginia to the Thomas TerraceBaptist Church, where my brother Mark is pastor, and attend a “Going Home CelebrationService” for Carl Townsend's wonderful wife Leah, who was a wonderful wife andChristian lady who served the Lord in so many ways. We'll be honoring hermemory and celebrating her life. I won't be back home in Sneads Ferry NC, untillate Saturday night. I'll do my best to keep up with the chats, so bear with meas there might be some challenges in getting them recorded and posted oninternet. God bless you and thank you for your prayers. Aswe continue to look at Luke 24 and the resurrection appearances of Christ, weneed to remember, according to Dr. Wilmington and other good Bible commentators, that Christ probably appeared at least eleven different times and occasions toHis disciples after His resurrection. There could have been more, but these arethe recorded appearances of Jesus Christ in the Gospels, giving proof thatJesus died, He was buried, and He rose again. The first verses of 1 Corinthians15 give a lists of several of those appearances. We need to remind ourselves ofthat often. It's the very foundation of our faith that Jesus indeed is risen! Herein this chapter we read about some of those appearances, and Luke gives somedetails we don't even read in the other gospels, which is very interesting. Tothe “perplexed” women at the empty tomb, Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene. Onthe road to Emmaus, Jesus appear to the two “sad” disciples, and opens theireyes and their understanding, and they literally get so excited they run backto Jerusalem. As I read the timetable here, it had to be late in the eveningbefore they got back because it was still on that resurrection day. They getback and tell exactly what happened, so excited in that upper room. Thenin verse 36, as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst ofthem and said to them, "Peace to you." They were terrified andfrightened and supposed they'd seen a spirit. Just imagine, Jesus appeared tothe two fellows on the road to Emmaus, and it was only after He broke breadwith them that their eyes were opened, and they beheld Him, and almostimmediately He vanishes out of their sight. Now, with the doors being shut, according to other scriptures, Jesus appears in the same room with them. Ofcourse, they're terrified. So He says to them, "Why are you troubled? And why do doubts arise in your hearts? Behold My hands and My feet, that it isI Myself. Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as yousee I have." Jesusrose from the dead physically, not just spiritually. He's not a ghost. He is ina physical body and even today sits in a physical body in heaven. “When Hehad said this, He showed them His hands and His feet. But while they did notbelieve for joy and marveled, He said to them…”. Can you imagine theirmixed emotions? Jesus assures them that it is He, Himself with many comfortingwords and eats with them. Today we can go to the word of God and commune withJesus. We can feel His touch as we commune with Him in His Word and prayer. Yes,today we can believe, and our troubled hearts will also find peace. Godbless!

Send us a textIn this episode, listen as Pastor Marvin St. Macary explores the powerful truth behind the phrase "God remembered Noah." In a time when the world was filled with wickedness, God called Noah to a life of obedience, sanctification, and separation. Noah's life reminds us that when we walk in righteousness, even when it's unpopular, God sees us, remembers us, and honors His word. Just like He remembered Noah, He remembers your dreams, your vision, and your faithfulness. Even in moments of silence or delay, God hasn't forgotten you. He uses sanctification to prepare us for elevation. Tune in and be encouraged—God preserves, sanctifies, and blesses those who trust Him. What He has spoken over your life will come to pass.If you would like to partner with us in spreading the message of Jesus Christ to the world you can do so via any of the options below.Cashapp: https://cash.app/$HHMCPaypal: http://paypal.me/HigherHeightsMCSquarepay: https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcheckout.square.site%2Fmerchant%2FSTTM56DVVNYM5%2Fcheckout%2FRS62FOBO2VTWPTAOTTP32RRM%3Ffbclid%3DIwAR29WROIC9CvvxdAjc1WKv5fLqDvFY3gLt5VBG0W41Hpfc_pDSWMXppYD98&h=AT3kxpjzOLmyFOmMEqEPvCkmUlom38WGZMyXxpsgOGXrNGMf-z9ZQE34tSfooE40yhaL1_LT0UfYkEqgdBGtAUZqjapoYBgJKLHyOmJlDAUHekOfnZwKY_RzKjxCVbXE29WoolMWwu8uTS3q6nQPTi20Wh8Mailing address 236 Parker Rd, Danville Va 24540 Support the show

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companionof fools will be destroyed.” Today we are in between the chapters of Luke 10 and Luke11. I felt very impressed to take the time to tie them together with a personalspiritual discipline that has really helped me to take time to “sit at the feetof Jesus” on a daily basis over the many years of our ministry. In my very first year as a follower of Jesus, I wasprivileged to attend Lynchburg Baptist College, a brand-new Christian BibleCollege in Lynchburg Virginia that was co-founded by Dr. Jerry Falwell and Dr. ElmerTowns. It was there that I was introduced to Christian Devotional Books that wouldgreatly influence my life and ministry and give me a firm foundation to standon over the years. As a young believer I committed to reading five Psalms aday and one Proverbs that would take me through both books each month. InProverbs 13:20, I saw the great truth of “walking with wise men” that wouldkeep me from being destroyed by the devil and his fools. I asked the question, “Howcan I walk with wise men when they don't have the time to spend with a collegestudent or young pastor?” Of course, in those early years at LibertyUniversity, because there was only a handful of students, I was privileged toget to know wise men like Dr. Falwell, Dr. Towns, Dr. Hindson, Dr. Wilmington,Dr. Chapman, Dr. Dobson and many other wonderful professors on a personal andfirst name basis, but that didn't mean they had time to “walk with me” everyday and impart their wisdom into my life. But it was there that I'll never forget Dr. Falwell, inthose very first days of the college in chapel services, introducing us toChristian leaders and writer from the past. The first one I remember himmentioning was Watchman Nee and his book called “The Normal Christian Life”. Hetold how much it had influenced his life. The next one was Andrew Murray andhis book, “With Christ in the School of Prayer”. Another author and great pastor from the pastthat He often mentioned was Charles Spurgeon. One of my professors actuallystarted each class session by reading the day's devotion from “My Utmost forHis Highest” by Oswald Chambers. It was then that I realized that these great Christian leadersand authors from the past left their wisdom and their lives in their writings. So I began the daily discipline, of not only reading the Psalms and Proverbs, memorizing verses that spoke to my heart, and reading systematically throughthe entire Bible, but also spending time with these “wise men” of pastcenturies. So today, I want to list some of the “wise men” and their dailydevotional books that you can easily find somewhere on sale on the internet. These are books that I really believe have imparted to me a greater love and knowledgeof our great God and Redeemer Jesus Christ and the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Watchman Nee – Book:“The Normal Christian Life”; Devotionals: “The Joyful Heart” and “Table in theWilderness”.Charles Spurgeon – Devotionals: “Morning and Evening” and “Faith'sCheck Book”Andrew Murray – Books: “With Christ in the School of Prayer”and “Absolute Surrender”; “Humility”Devotionals: “Daily Thoughts on Holiness” and “God's BestSecrets”Oswald Chambers – Devotionals: “My Utmost for His Highest”and “Daily Thoughts for Disciples”Henry Blackaby – Devotional: “Experiencing God Day by Day”E. M. Bounds – One Minute Devotional: “The Power of Prayer”Elmer Towns – Devotional: “365 Ways to Know God”A. W. Tozer – Devotional: “Renewed Day by Day”Of course, this is not a complete list, but I trust it willencourage you to spend time with some “wise men” too. If we are not careful with all the television media and socialmedia that we are exposed to everyday, we can end up “becoming a companion offools” and it is no wonder that so many lives are being destroyed. God bless!
In Luke 10 we have one of the best lessons on the challenges that a true follower of Jesus Christ will face as he or she surrenders their life to Him in Christian ministry and service, to be obedient and do His will. For some reason, as I was waking up early this morning, I felt so unmotivated, tired and weary and absolutely did not want to get out of bed. Immediately a verse came to my mind from Galatians 6:9, “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” The Lord was gently reminding me that this is not the time to give up and quit. The Lord never promised us an easy journey if we obediently follow Him. He told the seventy in this chapter that their ministry would be difficult. That it would often be dangerous. That there would be many distractions with temptations to take an easier path. And at times it could be very discouraging! They would also face demonic opposition as they “attack the gates of hell” with the Gospel message. I have had the wonderful privilege of serving the Lord in ministry now for over 54 years. Within a few months after my salvation on February 21, 1971, I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ and Christian ministry. I immediately begin selling things and moved to another state to go to a brand-new Lynchburg Baptist College in Lynchburg Virginia. I'm sure glad the Lord did not give me a pre-view of what I would face over the next 54 years. It has been a difficult and dangerous journey with tremendous distracting temptations, and at times with many major discouragements. At one point, in 1988, I did think I couldn't go on and I did quit! But like Jeremiah 20:9 says, “I said I am going to quit, but His Word was in my heart like a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not quit”. And the Lord gave me grace and strength to get up and keep on keeping on! I trust you will be able to listen or watch today's Pastor's chat as I share a little bit more of my challenges and journey in ministry. I assure you that looking back; the blessings far outweigh the trials and suffering in ministry. In Luke 10:17-24, Jesus reminds them that the enemy will not give up! Satan would certainly attack Christ's servants and seek to destroy them. That is why our Lord added the words of encouragement in Luke 10:19. He assured them that their authority was not gone now that the preaching mission had ended, and that they could safely tread on the "old serpent" without fear (Gen. 3:15; Rev. 12:9). The Lord cautioned them not to "go on rejoicing" over their victories but to rejoice because their names had been written in heaven. (The verb means "they have been written and they stand written." It is a statement of assurance. See Phil. 4:3; Rev. 20:12-15.) As wonderful as their miracles were, the greatest miracle of all is still the salvation of a lost soul. But our highest joy is not found in service or even in our salvation, but in being submitted to the sovereign will of the Heavenly Father, for this is the foundation for both service and salvation. Here we see God the Son rejoicing through God the Holy Spirit because of the will of God the Father! "I delight to do Thy will, O my God" (Ps. 40:8). Christ's ambassadors were indeed privileged people. They were able to see and hear things that the greatest saints in the Old Testament ages yearned to see and hear but could not. The Messiah was at work, and they were a part of His work! It is ok to want to quit. That is a good sign because it probably means that you are doing something the devil doesn't like. And when we get “knocked down”, by His grace we get back up! (Read 2 Corinthians 4:7-18). God bless!
