Although it's been a miserably cold January, the girls of Suite 15 are keeping it hot with a good fashion feud. Joined by Mallory Brooks, better known as  @plzdontbuythat  on TikTok, the girls get to unraveling the complexities of Influencer "brands," deceitful marketing tactics, and the importance of reading those pesky clothing care labels. Mallory is no stranger to controversy after finding herself in the middle of an Internet quarrel with Influencer Madeleine White after reviewing her revamped clothing brand, "See You Tomorrow." With a background in textile science and family members with professional sewing experience, Mallory is here to speak on the lack of apparel regulation in the United States, while advocating for sustainability and urging influencers to quite frankly, thread lightly. Amanda is a total bad ass with a burning passion for our sport! Our paths first crossed when I flew down to Austin to join the Team Rogue crazies for a 30 mile no-nutrition run. I’ve been following her running journey enthusiastically since then. We dialed it back to five years ago, when Amanda had a Half Marathon PR of 1:34 and had a goal of breaking 1:30. Fast forward to the Woodlands Half Marathon where she SCORCHED a 1:24:18! Then we took a deep dive into her training to examine what’s been moving the needle: The latest on her Team Rogue training as well as how she worked with Ashley Shager at the Woodlands Half for her breakthrough 1:24 Working with her sports chiro, Dr. Noah Moos, AKA the Witch Doctor Seeking out nutritionist Natalie Picchetti-Moos and The Human Nutrition Project and testing blood markers to discover gluten, dairy, and casein issues. Taking mobility/strength/imbalances classes with Mallory Brooks & Jason Brooks Reuniting with her old coach, Steve Sisson, AKA The Sorcerer Finding a hypnotherapist, Dr. Laura Ryan, and working on strengthening her mindset How all of these areas, plus grinding the miles helped take Amanda’s running to another level. Working with a Witch Doctor and a Sorcerer is clearly a good combo. And finally, finding the love in running and how it keeps us grounded -- which has never been more important than in these crazy Covid19 times. Please take a listen and hear Amanda’s AWESOME story! If you enjoyed the conversation, it would mean the world to me if you would rate the episode or write a review and share feedback wherever you get your podcast groove on. I am excited to bring 3-time guest Mallory Brooks back to the show to discuss her experience training with the Maffetone Method. I originally had her on to discuss her early stages in the program for episode #97, and now I have her back to recap her experience discussing both what she learned and what she might do differently. The MAF method is a foundational program that is designed to help you improve your aerobic foundation. Many like Mallory use it for base training in order to improve your pace at a given heart rate level before moving onto greater intensity. Given the current situation, this type of training might be something to consider as a way to stay healthy and work on aerobic development while under quarantine. Plus as a bit of intro with her, we get the behind-the-scenes perspective on dealing with the pandemic as a race director, including how you can support races during this difficult time.
