The school is home to around 50 nationalities. It also supports a thriving, multilingual community. After 12 years in Malaysia, James on what changes when you teach internationally. Yet, he also shares what stays the same. Students are still students, wherever you teach. However, expectations around grades can vary wildly. So, the conversation turns to assessment and reporting. Parents may be familiar with GCSE grades, IB scores, GPA, or Australian systems. Because of that, a single letter grade can create confusion. It can also create anxiety. Therefore, James explains why visual reporting can build clarity fast. He breaks down how graphical reporting helps families understand progress at a glance. For example, a simple bar or curve can show “where your child is” right now. It can also show “where we expect them to be”. Meanwhile, teachers still get the numbers when they need detail. The discussion also explores technology choices in schools. James contrasts “school-in-a-box” platforms with flexible tools. In particular, he explains why Accelerus stands out for reporting. It is curriculum agnostic. It is also highly customisable. As a result, schools can shape reports around their own language and processes. Importantly, James talks about leading change without overwhelm. First, he starts with a clear shared vision. Then, he involves staff, parents, and administration early. Suite à une loi signée par le président américain, un juge fédéral a ordonné mercredi, et pour la troisième fois en quelques jours, la levée du secret sur des documents judiciaires relatifs à l'affaire du criminel sexuel Jeffrey Epstein. Les révélations pourraient avoir lieu d'ici au 19 décembre, date butoir fixée par la loi.Après avoir dévoilé il y a peu les photos de la résidence de Jeffrey Epstein à Little Saint James, l'île privée des Caraïbes où il aurait organisé son trafic sexuel, des élus démocrates ont rendu publiques cette nuit de nouvelles photos. Donald Trump apparaît sur plusieurs d'entre-elles. La pression est maximale sur le locataire de la Maison-Blanche. D'autant que son comportement interroge. Alors qu'il avait estimé durant sa campagne qu'il fallait faire toute la lumière sur ce dossier, il a semblé vouloir tout faire pour étouffer l'affaire une fois revenu au pouvoir.L'affaire Epstein n'est pas la seule à agiter l'actualité américaine. La bataille entre Netflix et la Paramount pour racheter le géant du divertissement Warner Bros Discovery fait elle aussi les gros titres outre-Atlantique.Entre Netflix, le champion mondial du streaming, et la Warner, l'affaire semblait entendue. Mais la Paramount a contre-attaqué, avec une offre à 108 milliards de dollars. L'entreprise est dirigée par David Ellison, le fils du milliardaire Larry Ellison, proche de Donald Trump. L'affaire prend donc un tour politique. D'autant que l'offre comprend le rachat de la branche média de la Warner, propriétaire de la chaine de télévision CNN. Donald Trump accuse depuis longtemps cette chaine de servir ses opposants démocrates et d'être un « ennemi du peuple ». Un changement de propriétaire et de ligne éditoriale ne serait pas pour lui déplaire. S'il se défend de toute ingérence dans ce dossier, il argue que Netflix, pour des raisons juridiques anti-trust, ne pourrait peut-être pas racheter la Warner.Le président américain n'est pas la seule personnalité au cœur du scandale Epstein. Andrew, le frère de l'actuel roi Charles III, était également très proche du criminel sexuel. Virginia Giuffre, principale plaignante de l'affaire Jeffrey Epstein, avait pris la parole pour expliquer qu'Andrew l'avait violé. Les révélations pourraient avoir lieu d'ici au 19 décembre, date butoir fixée par la loi.Après avoir dévoilé il y a peu les photos de la résidence de Jeffrey Epstein à Little Saint James, l'île privée des Caraïbes où il aurait organisé son trafic sexuel, des élus démocrates ont rendu publiques cette nuit de nouvelles photos. Donald Trump apparaît sur plusieurs d'entre-elles. La pression est maximale sur le locataire de la Maison-Blanche. D'autant que son comportement interroge. Alors qu'il avait estimé durant sa campagne qu'il fallait faire toute la lumière sur ce dossier, il a semblé vouloir tout faire pour étouffer l'affaire une fois revenu au pouvoir.L'affaire Epstein n'est pas la seule à agiter l'actualité américaine. Mais la Paramount a contre-attaqué, avec une offre à 108 milliards de dollars. L'entreprise est dirigée par David Ellison, le fils du milliardaire Larry Ellison, proche de Donald Trump. L'affaire prend donc un tour politique. D'autant que l'offre comprend le rachat de la branche média de la Warner, propriétaire de la chaine de télévision CNN. Born in Taiwan, raised in Austria, and educated in Europe and America, Pianist Jenny Lin has built a vibrant international career, notable for innovative collaborations with a range of artists and creators. In recent seasons, Jenny has performances – both digital, and in person – for Washington Performing Arts; at Hudson Hall performing the American premiere of William Bolcom's Suite of Preludes; at Boston Conservatory's piano series; at Little Island in NYC; and at Winnipeg New Music Festival. She now serves as director of music for The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC.Recently, she performed a recital of Philip Glass's music for the Morris Museum – a continuation of a close collaboration with Glass, with whom she has appeared regularly since 2014.  This experience has inspired the creation of her own commissioning initiative, The Etudes Project, in which she works with a range of living composers to create new technical piano etudes, pairing each new piece with an existing etude from the classical canon.  Her catalogue includes more than 50 albums.A passionate advocate for education, Jenny created “Melody's Mostly Musical Day“, a musical album and picture book for children, following the adventures of an imaginative little girl from breakfast to bedtime, told in a collection of 26 classical piano works from Mozart to Gershwin.  We'll hear some of these in this episode.Fluent in English, German, Mandarin, and French, Jenny Lin studied Noel Flores at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, with Julian Martin at the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, and with Dominique Weber in Geneva. She has also worked with Leon Fleisher, Richard Goode, and Blanca Uribe, and at Italy's Fondazione Internazionale per il pianoforte with Dimitri Bashkirov and Andreas Staier. Happy Throwback Thursday and welcome to another installment of the Throwback Files, where we go back and revisit old episodes. This month, we are revisiting the popular Flatwoods Monster. About the Flatwoods Monster On September 12, 1952, two brothers and their friend witnessed a bright object cross the sky and land on a local farm in Flatwoods, West Virginia, prompting them to investigate the site with family members and neighbors. The group encountered a tall, man-like figure described as approximately 10 feet tall with a round, blood-red face, a pointed hood-like shape, glowing eye-like features emitting greenish-orange light, and small claw-like hands. When the creature made a hissing sound and moved toward them, the terrified witnesses fled the scene, later reporting a pungent mist that caused nausea in some members of the group. While local law enforcement found no evidence during their investigation, claims of skid marks and an unusual gummy deposit at the site the following day fueled speculation about a UFO landing among enthusiast groups. The incident generated massive national media attention, with the story ranking as the 11th biggest news story of 1952 and drawing investigators from across the country, including prominent UFO researchers Gray Barker and Ivan T. Sanderson.
