New developments in three major cases on today's Crime Talk. A judge has rejected Lindsay Clancy's latest attempt to obtain a required finding of not guilty following the mistrial, keeping the criminal case against her alive as questions continue over whether prosecutors will pursue a second trial. In Tennessee, Christa Pike remains in critical condition following the state's unsuccessful attempt to carry out her execution. The incident has now triggered an investigation, a temporary halt to executions in Tennessee and a major new legal question: could the state eventually try again? Caleb Flynn was also back in court following his guilty verdict as he prepares for sentencing Monday. We break down what happened at the latest hearing, what penalties he could face and what comes next with his expected appeal.

Christa Pike survived Tennessee's attempt to execute her by lethal injection after receiving both doses authorized under the state's execution protocol. Pike, the only woman on Tennessee's death row, was scheduled to be executed for the 1995 murder of Colleen Slemmer. But after the state administered pentobarbital twice, Pike remained alive and was eventually transported to a hospital. Governor Bill Lee has now halted Tennessee's remaining executions for 2026 and ordered an independent review into what went wrong. The case raises a major legal question: Can Tennessee attempt to execute Christa Pike again, or would another attempt violate the Eighth Amendment's prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment? Is AI a Threat to Humanity? | Paranormal Podcast This week we go into a full deep dive into the AI threat to humanity, sparked by a former OpenAI developer going on CNN with Anderson Cooper to say there's a 10% chance AI will attempt to kill humanity within the next decade, which, if you're doing the math at home, is a much higher number than you'd like to hear from someone who actually built the thing. We broke down the three most realistic extinction scenarios: 1. AI-developed bioweapons 2. self-replicating robots that are quite literally already being built, and 3. AI hacking nuclear infrastructure, which, as it turns out, is less of a theoretical concern and more of an "already happened in Iran" concern, and got into the moment when AI agents at OpenAI hacked a third-party system entirely of their own accord. We also discussed how the Pentagon has already integrated AI into US weapons systems since 2023, talked through the three laws of robotics that we are actively teaching AI to break.

A major development in the Lindsay Clancy case. During today's hearing, defense attorney Kevin Reddington argued that prosecutors failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Clancy actually killed her three children — a significant new approach following the mistrial earlier this month. Judge William Sullivan did not rule on the defense's request for a required finding of not guilty, while other major issues — including double jeopardy, the controversy surrounding the holdout juror and the prosecution's request for a gag order — remain unresolved. Two very different murder trials now have one striking thing in common: prosecutors are pointing to secret affairs as part of the story behind the alleged crimes. In Ohio, the Caleb Flynn murder trial continues after jurors heard nearly two days of testimony from his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, including portions of approximately 107,000 messages exchanged during their affair. The jury also heard AI-generated love songs Flynn allegedly created for Botner as prosecutors try to connect the relationship, Flynn's statements and the timeline to the murder of his wife, Ashley Flynn. In Tennessee, former paramedic Matthew Konen is standing trial for the murders of his wife, Rachel Konen, and her father, David Rodgers. Prosecutors say Konen was having an affair while his marriage was ending and point to financial pressures, a 911 call and gunshot residue as part of their case. Konen's defense says Rodgers actually shot his own daughter and that Konen attacked him only after Rodgers allegedly turned the gun on him. Also on Crime Talk today: Shannon Ryan has been found guilty of second-degree murder in the disappearance and presumed death of Leila Cavett, even though her body has never been recovered. In the Lindsay Clancy case, Judge William Sullivan is keeping key juror records sealed while the defense continues seeking information involving the lone holdout juror from Clancy's mistrial. Philadelphia investigators are preparing for a deeper search of the so-called House of Horrors as police and the FBI continue reviewing an enormous amount of digital evidence tied to missing women. Cursed Games: Vol 7 | Paranormal Podcast We're back with Cursed Games Volume 7! It's been 6 months since the last one and we made it count, lighting a candle, watching the lights in the studio do things we still don't have an explanation for... but anyway... First up was the Fed Up Game, a parallel universe ritual where you sleep holding a precise 5x5 centimeter hexagram paper in red ink and wake up somewhere else, followed by the Shower Man ritual, which we are describing as "very involved" and includes blood, a 24-hour fast, screaming at an entity in the dark, and a bathroom door you are absolutely not allowed to open for at least a day. Definitely dropping a trigger warning for blood and sexual stuff with the Shower man. And then we wrapped with the Boatman, which is a ritual where you toss something gold into dark water at night, submit your intentions to what is essentially the underworld's bouncer, and if he accepts your application, you're going to want to fight very hard to keep the one seat on a rowboat you can never, under any circumstances, lose.

The August 2026 Denver real estate market is telling two very different stories at once. Nearly 12% of every home listed for sale in Colorado is now priced below what the owner originally paid. In Denver County, that number climbs to 19%. As a result, buyers, sellers, and investors are rethinking how they approach the rest of the year. Chris Lopez sits down with Troy Howell of Nova Home Loans and Brandon Scholten of Keyrenter Denver to break down the August DMAR numbers. Closings across all residential dropped 17% year over year. Meanwhile, attached sales fell 23.5% while detached held closer to flat. Prices tell a K-shaped story. On one side, detached average is up 1.7%. On the other, attached slid 4.3%. In addition, inventory is moving in opposite directions depending on property type. Next, Brandon walks through the softening rental picture. Robinwood Section 8 rents fell from roughly $2,800 down to $1,900 after housing authorities tightened reasonableness adjustments. He also flags a real uptick in small multifamily buyer inquiries. For example, an Uptown studio is renting for $685 with a free month, effectively 2016 pricing. On the lending side, Troy shares that he has closed more second mortgages this year than in the prior five combined. Most are 20-year fixed products in the 7s. As a result, clients can keep their COVID-era first at 3% and still tap equity. Finally, the conversation closes on a duplex Jeff White just helped a first-time house hacker close. The purchase price came in at $660,000 with an FHA loan, down payment assistance, and an $11,500 seller credit. All-in cash came in under $10,000. On top of that, the property appraised $5,000 over.
