It's a mash off smack down for the crown (the crown being nonexistent and the winner never once being declared) as we discuss the annual New Directions Boys vs Girls Mash Off.Episodes discussed areVitamin DNever Been KissedMash OffBoys (and Girls) on Film
It's the third annual mashup episode, and while the songs may be harmonious, the relationships are not! There's a lot of conflict in this one! New Directions vs. The Troubletones, Sue vs. Burt, Santana vs Finn, and the slap heard around the world . . . and it wasn't even in the script! Hear behind-the-scenes scoop on the scene that still makes them gasp. Plus, "Mash Off" featured the show's 300th song and a return to the music charts with what Kevin and Jenna think is one of Glee's top three songs of all time! Will you agree? This week, we're discussing S3 E6 - "Mash Off", featuring dodgeball bans, booty shorts, slapping, libelous political ads, and more!
Olive and Eliza endure season three episode six, Mash Off! The continuation of the Puck/Shelby plot, Santana's forced outing, and the ultimate slap in the face come together to make one of the most memorable and impactful episodes of Glee ever. Whether that is a good thing is highly debatable. Quinn's quest to get Beth back gets called out, Rachel's presidential bid drops out, and Puck's attempts to date his teacher make Eliza grossed out! Listen for a surprise right after our hosts introduce themselves for a fun callback to last season
S3E6: Emilee and Lauren are very frustrated with the characters in this episode. They talk the constant villainy of Shelby Corcoran and the unnecessary beef between Finn and Santana. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gleekplease/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gleekplease/support
The mash ups go like this: boring, alright, boring, LIFE CHANGING!!! You know the one.
On today's episode, we have a special guest Jon Reilly from the "Life's but a Song" Podcast! We discuss an episode with some wild stuff, and THE BEST mash up (and maybe song!?) of the series. There's also an unasked for amount of Nebraska, Jon and Ian disagree on the definition of “too tall,” and Rory is clearly from another time period. This is your casual reminder that Ian has been club President before.Would Finn fight a bear? Rumor has it this week we discuss a vital episode inside the Glee mythology! In an appearance that has been on the books since we started this show, we welcome Chief TV Critic at Variety, Caroline Framke, to discuss 3x06: "Mash-Off"! In an essential episode for Santana, we talk about the role of Naya Rivera inside queer representation in TV, the nuance of her performance, and, of course, we dive deep into that Adele mash-up. We also talk about The Prom (which we watched!), The Grinch Live! (which we didn't watch), and FX on Hulu's A Teacher (which apparently everyone should watch!).We discuss:3x06: Mash-OffWritten by: Michael HitchcockDirected by: Eric Stoltz‘A Teacher’ Presents a Thorough, Disturbing Examination of Abuse: TV ReviewNaya Rivera Took a Basic ‘Glee’ Character and Made Her Unforgettable (Column)Outro Song: Thank U, Next - Ariana GrandeToday’s episode is brought to you by The StarDraft. On this week's installment of The Gleewatch, Sam and Hannah discuss the sixth episode of Glee's third season, "Mash-Off". Please welcome our new editor: America's Finest Disaster, Miss Rachel Allen. (Honestly, she's wayyy better than Brit, yikes...) We jump in by unpacking just how much Brit has been played by American rock band My Chemical Romance and the stress of thinking critically. This week on Glee, however, we learn Puck is Hot for Teacher in the most uncomfortable and unnecessary way. Will Schuester is perhaps the most unqualified campaign manager on Earth and yes, Finn still hates Blaine for absolutely no reason. Join us as we discuss one of the best mashups in history, the sheer brilliance of Naya Rivera’s timing and delivery, and most importantly, the slap heard ‘round the world in our breakdown of "Mash Off." Listener's Note: We recorded and edited this episode before Naya Rivera's tragic passing, which is why there's no commentary about it. We held off posting as we took time to deal and gather our thoughts. The next episode is "I Kissed a Girl," which heavily features Santana in an important storyline. We're going to wait a little bit before recording it to give ourselves, and our listeners, a little more time to decompress. First we're going record a tribute episode of sorts - more on that soon. For now, please enjoy this episode and remember Naya in your favorite way. This is S3E6, "Mash Off." The New Directions are still quibbling with The Troubletones and the only way to solve it is, you guessed it, a mash off competition. The result is one of the greatest Glee covers of the whole series: Rumor Has It/Someone Like You. Kevin McScale: .5 - for injuring Darren during the dodgeball scene Klainedex: 2 - one point for standing on the choir room chairs, and one for Blaine's face during the student council speech Coulda Shoulda Woulda Index: 30s - the lack of an actual storyline with Rachel and Shelby; honestly would have paid money to see Finn lift Blaine a la Dirty Dancing Our wonderful sound engineer is Adriana, and this episode is sponsored by you, our Patrons. Allyssa points out more reasons Principal Figgins is disgusting, Hannah can't wait to talk about an Avril Lavigne classic, and Cullen's heart is damaged by Will singing the Thong Song.
We are treading on well worn ground for the 3rd Annual Mash Up episode, Mash Off. Two titans battle it out... Well one titan plays dodgeball with a beached whale. While Glee tries its hands at some misguided and slipshod social commentary, Sam and Maggie do the real work: putting this garbage show in its place (the trash). Please consider supporting us at patreon.com/sandmhateglee links to things!Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sandmhategleeTwitter: @sandmhategleeEmail: sandmhateglee@gmail.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Mash-up connoisseur Jocelyn Lee is here to talk about the flaws of "Mash-Off" and Raina is here to agree with her vehemently and go off again on Ryan Murphy's portrayal of queer women. They both agree that this is a massive mess of an episode with one of the best songs of all time alllllmoooost making up for it!
A weekly Glee podcast dedicated to discussing Kurt Hummel and Blaine Anderson. This week we wrap up the first arc of season three with Mash Off (3x06), I Kissed a Girl (3x07), and Hold Onto 16 (3x08) discussions. Topics include - the student election and results, the NYADA storyline, Blaine's tiff with Finn, the first Blam interaction, lack of Klaine post-TFT, Santana's coming out, and sectionals. And Kurt's fabulous outfits.
You think YOU’RE angry that GleeKast has been on hiatus? Well apparently the Internet is PISSED OFF which explains why Erica’s wireless connection launched an all-out war on this episode, a war in which Emily’s cats soon became its evil allies. But elsewhere, the ladies discuss Mash/Off and try to not remember the fact that we’ve all already seen the episode that came after it. It was stressful. The English language was abused and Erica said the C word first, while Emily revealed her college acceptance may have been tainted. We had to end early due to the Internet acting like an asshole, so we saved some feedback for the next episode (hearts and thanks and sorries Nigel & Terri-Anne!) which will hopefully not happen 7 years from now. Remember to visit us and others at palavr.com, especially in this interim where time hates us. Send your feedback (which we’ll read promptly!) to gleekast@gmail.com and follow us on Twitter to become a better person (@ericasKNITS and @deadlydolls).
