Michael Christian (born 21 August 1964) is a former Australian rules footballer and media personality from Busselton, Western Australia who played for East Perth in the West Australian Football League (WAFL) and Collingwood in the Victorian Football League/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL). Christian played 82 games for East Perth in the WAFL from 1981 to 1986 and then crossed to Collingwood to play out his football career. He played at centre half- back for the majority of his career but was also used sparingly as a forward. Christian was a member of Collingwood's 1990 premiership side and represented the West Australian team on three occasions. After retiring, Christian became a football commentator and has commentated on radio for Triple M, Geelong station K-Rock (3GL) and 3AW, as well as for Network Ten. He hosted the breakfast program, Prime Time Sports Interactive, on Sport 927 with Angela Pippos and The Fifth Quarter, a post-match show following Saturday night AFL games, between 2004 and 2007 with Andrew Maher and from 2008 to 2011, with rotating expert commentators Michael Voss, Malcolm Blight or Luke Darcy.  Christian also commentated on weightlifting events at the 2010 Commonwealth Games. He compered The Final Siren, a Sunday night football review show, in 2011. Under reformed procedures introduced by the AFL, Christian was appointed Match Review Officer, the AFL's sole adjudicator for the Match Review Panel, in 2017.

Does this jeopardise or sideline the ability to target the younger generation of listeners? US sports documentaries seem more catered to a wider audience. Is Amazon still finding their way in this respect? Or is a cultural change in acceptable language required in Australian sport. I am an Eagles fan, and watching the series changed my perception of Adam Simpson negatively. Additionally as a Gen Y viewer I found the treatment of players, particularly Coniglio, from coaches only eroded their confidence. Are coaches out of touch with the current day player? Anyone who has played before is familiar with a spray although it is a workplace, and this behaviour wouldn't be tolerated in other fields of employment Great to hear your thoughts. I really value your insights.”To ask Hutchy and Damo a question - head to Facebook or Twitter or email thesoundingboard@sen.com.au.The Sounding Board is produced, engineered and edited by Jane Nield for Sports Entertainment Network.

LISTEN ABOVE AS ANDREW VOSS SPEAKS TO RADIO SPORT BREAKFASTGeorge Burgess' rudimentary search for Dallin Watene-Zelezniak's optic nerve will undergo more scrutiny. The England prop has been summoned to appear at a disciplinary hearing over an alleged eye-gouging incident during the second test against the Kiwis in Liverpool. The match was held up while the Kiwis captain had treatment after coming into contact with him on the ground. It went unpunished by referee Gerard Sutton at the time. The Rugby Football League announced that Burgess had been referred to a disciplinary hearing."The Match Review Panel appointed by the Rugby Football League for the series determined that the incident merits a Grade D charge of behaviour contrary to the true spirit of the game," it said in a statement.A grade D offence carries a suspension of three to five matches, which puts Burgess' place in the team for Sunday's third test against the Kiwis at Elland Road in doubt.Any further bans will be carried over into the 2019 NRL season.Watene-Zelezniak confirmed the fingers of Burgess plunged into his eye but brushed it off in his post-match interviews."I felt a finger go in my eye," Watene-Zelezniak said. "That's football. Lucky the doctor was there to give me something. It was a bit blurry after that. Whatever he gave me it helped a lot."That's international football. I'm a tough boy, I'm an adult, I'm a man so I can take those kinds of things but what I can't take is a loss."Watene-Zelezniak was unsure if Burgess' act was intentional."I have no idea I'd have to watch the video back. He's a big boy and he's got some big fingers too. I think his whole hand would probably cover my whole face."I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose him and his brothers are good guys and they've done really good things for the game. I don't think that's in their kit bag but it is what it is you just have to deal with it."I'm pretty sweet now. The doctor gave me some kind of eye drops. I'm sure it was accidental. It didn't really mess with the game much but that's football."

Two teams were knocked out of the Fantasy finals race on the weekend, two now have the week off and wait to see who they take on from this weekend's do-or-die semi-finals. Almost every week coaches are faced with new challenges. Joel Selwood has been a highly sought after player in the last few weeks since dipping below $500,000. 64 per cent of the top 250 coaches own Geelong's skipper and will be faced with a forced trade this week. Unfortunately for Selwood owners, his price is $466,000 and it may require some creative thinking to get the most out of the move. Enter the Match Review Panel. Brodie Grundy can accept two weeks for his tackle on Ben Brown, while Zach Merrett and Mitch Duncan can take a week with a guilty plea. Draft owners of Tom Hawkins could be without him for two weeks if he accepts his penalty. Add to that a few injuries and the carnage that is bound to find us when teams are released on Thursday night, you will have to earn your win if you are to get through this week. The Traders help you with your semi-final match up this week and also give out their advice for those hunting a high ranking or sitting back waiting for their preliminary final.

Fantasy coaches are reeling from the news that Patrick Dangerfield has been offered a one-week suspension from the Match Review Panel. The second most selected player in Fantasy Classic was cited for his rough conduct on Matthew Kreuzer on Saturday night. If he accepts the one-match ban with an early plea, down from two weeks, 56 per cent of coaches will be making a big call this week on what to do with the Brownlow Medallist. The Fantasy finals work in the same way that the AFL ones do. The top four have a double chance this week, while fifth to eighth face elimination. Strategy for this round can be different from team to team. Curveballs like the Dangerfield suspension, injuries to key players and decisions on who to field or bench will play a key role in shaping the way in each league plays out. Not only for Classic, but for Draft leagues. Picking the right free agents in a time of need can go a long way to deciding upcoming head-to-head battles this weekend. Join Roy, Calvin and Warnie as they help you get the edge over your opponent whether you're aiming for a week off or trying to avoid elimination... or even battling it out in the plate final like Roy is!
