Highly-regarded Australian actor Richard Roxburgh joins the latest episode of the Cinema Australia Podcast. To say the recording of this Podcast episode was a bit of fun would be an understatement. It's not every day you get to shoot the breeze with an actor of Richard Roxburgh's calibre. That was the case for me while I was attending CinefestOZ Film Festival in Busselton, Western Australia which Richard was also attending as the Jury Chair, responsible alongside other jury members for awarding the festival's $100,000 Film Prize for Best Film. I had spoken to Richard during an Opening Night Red Carpet interview, and we also shared a bit of banter at one or two afterparties. But I really wasn't expecting to get Richard on an episode of the Cinema Australia Podcast while I was at the festival. On the Thursday morning I received a phone call saying that Richard was at my hotel and available for a half hour interview. Of course, I jumped at the opportunity, even though I was totally unprepared as far as questions go. Regardless, I managed to get quite a lot out Richard during our interview. We discussed topics from his early beginnings as an actor, working with the likes of Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible II, his adoration for Baz Luhrmann, his desire to work with Warwick Thornton, his latest role in the Stan series Bali 2002, and whether he will ever direct again following his experiences on Romulus, My Father. Do I really need to introduce Richard here? Probably not, but it's worth mentioning that Richard is one of Australian busiest and most respected actors, having graced our screens in television shows like Blue Murder, Hawke and of course Rake, and in films like Oscar and Lucinda, Mission: Impossible II, Moulin Rouge!, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Van Helsing, Looking for Grace, Hacksaw Ridge and H is for Happiness. It's worth mentioning that this interview was recorded in a pub. The venue was open to the public and there was a lot of activity happening in the background with CinefestOZ events, coffee being poured and drinks being served so please excuse the background noise. Anyway… enjoy.

You can't do that! Second career game in an elimination final and Jye was as cool as a Busselton cucumber. Ryan Crowley couldn't have rattled him! Time to Restump Podcast the unfathomable Freo victory. All we can say is, how? You just can't do that! 41 points down with a tick over a half of footy to play and we somehow found a way with a team possessing barely a single final of experience between them. We averaged around 68 points per game for our last 6 games and we had to find 41 points in a just over a half of footy to just draw level, without the dogs kicking a single score! And we had to do that without our best forward and a replacement playing just his second career game. And we did! We somehow orchestrated a 54-point turn turnaround…. what kind of purple sorcery is that! How sweet was it to see Sonny Walters back to his former typical big game best? However, he couldn't do what he did if a couple of young ridiculously talented hard nuts didn't do what they did. Andy Brayshaw and Caleb Serong somehow went to another level, a level, given their age and experience, that should almost be classed as unfair to the Dogs! When you look at those two guys in particular, you have to say Phar Lap suddenly has a couple of challengers for the world record size of hearts! If that win and all it represents doesn't overly satisfy the harshest Freo task marker, then give the sport away because your unrealistic and unfair expectations will never be met.  We've been starved of this feeling, we live for this, we're doing it for Dave and for Nat, we're allowed to dream, live in hope and we say why not us? But whatever unfolds and however next week results, an elimination final victory with such a young inexperienced team put the icing on a successful season's cake. Let's get into the game and relive the extreme emotional rollercoaster of Saturday night. We're still running on adrenalin so we'll aim for composure but not getting carried away reminiscing and dissecting the inconceivable purple performance.... we cannot guarantee. So, if you're still buzzing…. Join us for this 60 minutes and come along for the recap before we look towards the ride to the G.

Kate Fenech is a 15 year old student who's found herself part of the extraordinary SS4C movement (the School Strikes for Climate), with growing passions for marine science and regenerative farming. I met her when we were both late conscripts to a premiere screening of Regenerating Australia in Busselton, WA, that ended up becoming a unique post-film dialogue. The film's director, Damon Gameau, was a late withdrawal, as was young activist and author, Bella Burgemeister. So Kate and I stepped into the breach, and that seemed to set up a vibe among the 75 or so people present of, ‘well I guess it's just us!' And to tell you the truth, for a while, I wondered if the whole thing was going to bomb. I've never hosted an event with an audience that was so pin-drop quiet. But that silence turned out to be more a measure of how much people were listening and contemplating, as just about everybody stayed, and we even drifted over time a little, for what became a frank, vital and ultimately wonderful community conversation. 3.45m - A short welcome from me 5.20m - A pre-recorded introduction to the film by Damon. (Damon actually came to feel that this was the most impactful part of the film tour, more than the film itself.) Keeper Of The Greens is proudly brought to you by Colin Campbell Chemicals. Click on their name and it will take you straight to their website for more information. Lance Knox got into greenkeeping a little bit later than most. That doesn't mean to say that he has less professional drive than others, quite the contrary. After listening to Lance and hearing his story I think you'll struggle to find someone more passionate and who enjoys their job and career more! This is a great story that can show you if you're hungry for something, just keep working hard at it and you will achieve what you want and much, much more. Lance clearly loves being a greenkeeper and after years of enjoying his job he finally took hold of his very own golf course for the first time as Superintendent at Busselton Golf Club. Clearly very skilled, Lance was quickly able to take Busselton Golf Club to the next level in terms of presentation and management which culminated with winning the 2022 Excellence in Golf Course Management Award at this years ASTMA industry awards evening. Quite the achievement indeed! Join with me as I learn about Lance's greenkeeping career which is different to the worldly travelled Superintendents I've spoken to recently and shows just how you can achieve great things learning and working in your own way. Time to Restump Podcast Friday night's ‘marquee' game against the Roos. When you hear covid hit and six of your players are out… you immediately do the Sean Darcy umpire remonstrating disguising hands to your head move! But then you realise Chappy, Young and Darcy are three of the ins, you hear Jye Amiss' name confirmed and Liam Henry is back for another crack at it! Suddenly the blood pressure returns to its optimal range and you're in ‘no worries' territory.Six changes to a team would usually see a team's chances lessen and their odds blow out. The bookies see little to no problem for us as they have Freo at $1.08 to beat North Melbourne.8% return on investment in 80 minutes…. easier earn than on the end of a shovel! No that isn't investment advice and remember here at the Restump we always gamble irresponsibly, so don't follow us!Sammy Sturt, while a chance at still being called up, was a notable omission and with Connor Blakely missing a berth you'd have to think the chances of seeing him in purple again are getting slimmer by the day. With North's tall defence, consisting of the likes of Aiden Corr 195cm, Josh Walker 197cm, Ben McKay 201cm, could this be a night out in more ways than one for Lachie Schultz, Sammy Switkowski and Sonny Walters? It seems it's a game we should just be banking the four points from and moving on from. But when you get ahead of yourself and allow complacency to creep in…. strange things occur. No doubt JL has that covered! The West Coast Eagles are in a bit of strife so we give them a bit of a lift and a pump up in the Neighbourhood Watch segment and the chatter about Luke Jackson is getting louder. All that and shedloads more for those who don't have high standards on their listening content. God help us if anyone raises the bar on the quality of what they wish to listen to! But until you do, click play, head in with low expectations and we'll do our best to meet them.

Kate and Mandy talk to extraordinary Erin - mum to peashoot Sarah who she adopted at eight years of age, twenty years ago, when Erin was only nineteen years old herself. Erin shares the remarkable story of how she became a Pea mum unexpectedly to Sarah, who has Rett Syndrome. Erin had known and loved Sarah since she was a baby, and took over her care in a heartbeat when her birth mother relinquished care directly to her. Erin faced numerous practical and social challenges when taking on her care, such as needing to give up work, experiencing homelessness and losing many of her friends. She talks about being thrown right in the deep end of Pea parenting and learning on the job about dealing with specialists, feeding challenges, schooling and post-schooling options while often facing a level of disrespect and dismissal from professionals for being so young and inexperienced. She's fortunately had a pretty smooth and positive experience of the NDIS though, and currently has 3-4 support workers currently providing Sarah with care. Erin talks about her ongoing journey towards reaching her lifelong goal of being a special education teacher – a job she's wanted to do ever since she was fifteen years old. She also shares the nerve-wracking story of packing up and taking Sarah off for a caravanning trip around Australia for twelve months - and finding herself a long way from home in Busselton, WA just when COVID-19 hit Australia! She also talks about the love, support, family and community she's been fortunate to find through a great local church. Erin also shares some very good advice - find the rainbow in every day, no matter what.
