Paul Hawksbee and Andy Jacobs are back in the studio together to tackle the day's big sports talking points, starting with a very special tasting of the brand-new, limited-edition Pukka Pie. They are joined by Liverpool and England legend John Barnes, who shares his unique theories on how heat and altitude impact both elite football performance and pie tasting. Moving onto the pitch, John gets serious about the future of English football, stressing the immense value of youngsters like Max Downham and issuing a firm plea for the media and fans to leave Rio Ngumoha alone so he can develop in peace. Plus, the lads cross over live to New York City to tap into the building energy ahead of the World Cup with Sun Sport presenter and West Ham fan Will Pugh. Then, author Alex Hill joins the show to talk about his brilliantly titled new book, 'Why I Stuck A Flair Up My A*** For England'.

The Apocalypse Players — a Call of Cthulhu actual play podcast
In which our holidaymakers enjoy a few local ales, endure some local characters, catch up on local gossip, and attempt not to get into any trouble… The Company of the Light uses the Vaesen roleplaying system, by Free League Publishing and based an original concept by Johan Egerkrans. The mystery at the heart of the scenario is taken from Mythic Britain and Ireland by Graeme Davis. The name of that scenario (which may contain a mild spoiler) can be found below the music section of these notes. You can hear a short prologue to The Company of the Light on our Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/posts/blomqvist-01-ho-153999494 Cast: Lieutenant William Fellwood — Joseph Chance Bab Chase — Dominic Allen Siobhan Strong — Danann McAleer Bridge Ebden — Lucy Farrett Narrator — Dan Wheeler CW: This podcast contains mature themes, strong language and cosmic horror. (MILD SPOILERS FOLLOW): The mystery at the heart of this story is premised upon the disappearance and death of a young woman. However, with the exception of one moment (which I will flag when it arrives), this is not dwelt on in any great detail, and please note for avoidance of doubt this is NOT sexual violence or self-harm. Human discretion is advised. The Apocalypse Players is an actual play (or live play) TTRPG podcast focused on horror tabletop roleplaying games. Think Dimension 20 or Critical Role, but fewer dragons, more eldritch horrors, and more British actors taking their roleplaying very seriously (most of the time). We primarily play the Chaosium RPG Call of Cthulhu, but have also been known to dabble with other systems, most of which can be found on our Patreon: www.patreon.com/apocalypseplayers We now have a free Discord server where you can come and worship at the altar of the Apocalypse, play Call of Cthulhu online, and meet like-minded cultists who will be only too eager to welcome you into the fold. This week on The Floor Recap, Angie and Brad are joined by former contestant Harley, and what starts as a recap of The Floor quickly turns into a debate about birds, pie, baseball movies, golf, and whether Eric is secretly building the greatest alliance in Floor history. The crew breaks down Ren's bold decision to stay and play as the whale, Carlos somehow ending up in bird watching despite looking like he'd rather be anywhere else, and one of the weirdest categories of the season: nature sounds. Along the way, Brad declares bird watching the most boring category ever created while Angie attempts to defend an entire hobby enjoyed by retired people across America. Things get even stranger when woodworking features the world's smallest doghouse, pie flavors sparks an unexpected dessert debate, and Harley shocks everyone by actually leaving the show to retrieve a real dirt pie from her kitchen after Brad jokingly asked her to prove it existed. Meanwhile, the panel continues tracking the frozen Eric saga as contestants carefully maneuver around his territory. Harley weighs in on whether she'd join the infamous "Eric Alliance," Brad continues his conspiracy theories, and Angie tries desperately to keep the show on the rails. Then disaster strikes when Angie temporarily disappears due to a power outage, leaving Brad and Harley to host alone while trying to remember what actually happened in the episode. What follows is pure chaos as the conversation spirals into baseball movies, sports debates, golf arguments, and enough random tangents to make even Rob Lowe question what's happening.

In this episode of SERious Epidemiology, Hailey and Matt welcome guest host Dr. John Jackson to discuss Chapter 5 of Causal Inference: What If? This chapter focuses on explaining the concept of interaction. Together, they unpack the often-confusing distinction between causal interaction and effect measure modification. Throughout the discussion they go on (helpful) tangents to talk about factorial trials, risk stratification, DAGs, confounding control, and why students are right to find all of this a bit head-spinning. They also debate additive versus multiplicative interaction, sufficient component causes, causal pies, synergism, antagonism, and whether interaction terms can really tell us anything about mechanisms—or whether they mostly tell us where treatment effects may differ. Along the way, there are excellent examples involving surgery, vaccination, infectious disease. Also, in case you ever wondered, every academic has an ever-growing “papers to read” pile.

That gap matters.Because while small businesses are absorbing rising costs, adjusting products, and trying to maintain customer loyalty, the underlying system is becoming more fragile. This episode is a grounded look at what's happening beneath the surface, and why many small businesses are preparing for what comes next, even if the wider market isn't paying attention yet.Connect with Frida Deguise, L.A Donuts, and Frida's Pies here:- https://ladonuts.com/ - https://www.instagram.com/fridadeguise/- https://www.instagram.com/l.adonuts/- https://www.instagram.com/fridas.pies/If you found this episode valuable, make sure you're subscribed to the podcast and follow along for the rest of this 5-part series. Navigating regulations. Dealing with accountants, contracts, and compliance. Learning to trust people, and then dealing with what happens when that trust is broken. This episode is about the part of business no one prepares you for.Not the work, but the weight of responsibility, the emotional toll, and the constant pressure of being accountable for everything.Connect with Frida Deguise, L.A Donuts, and Frida's Pies here:- https://ladonuts.com/ - https://www.instagram.com/fridadeguise/- https://www.instagram.com/l.adonuts/- https://www.instagram.com/fridas.pies/If you found this episode valuable, make sure you're subscribed to the podcast and follow along for the rest of this 5-part series.
