The stages of life are told through multiple sketches and songs by the British comedy troupe. The seven parts of life cover birth, growing up, war, middle age, organ transplants, old age and death. Not all stages are singular: "Part I: The Miracle of Birth" is from the perspective of an ignored woman in labor, and of a Roman Catholic couple with too many children, and "Part VII: Death" encompasses a funeral and heaven. Added are three unrelated skits placed in the beginning, middle and end. It is a laugh riot as the boys discuss a childhood favorite of host Jack's! The disconnected scenes, quotable lines and pure essence of British humor is abounds for these hosts and YOUR ears! We are the Reel Feels Podcast, every other Wednesday we'll bring you a new movie with all the feels you can handle. We'll laugh, we'll cry and possibly restrain the frustrations to curse the heavens. But what you can count on is three guys sharing their love of cinema with you. Please leave us a review and share your "reel" feelings. Monty Python's The Meaning of Life
This past week, we lost a talented comic genius: Terry Jones. He was one of the founding members of the legendary British sketch comedy group Monty Python. He co-directed Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and directed both Monty Python's Life of Brian and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life. Terry was also a well respected medieval historian – in fact, he wrote two books on poet Geoffrey Chaucer. Later in his career, he became a prolific children's book author. His books were always a bit surreal, witty and charming. He was a hero to many comedy nerds obsessed with Monty Python. We're taking a moment to remember Terry Jones. When he joined Bullseye (then The Sound Of Young America) nearly 14 years ago he talked about his years with the Pythons. Plus, what it was like when he was given the opportunity to re-edit his cult classic The Saga of Erik the Viking.
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, directed by Terry Jones, was released in the UK in 1983, and features the entire Monty Python comedy troupe performing a series of comedic sketches that comment on the various phases of one's life, in order from Birth to Death. Avery and Ash talk about it, as well as the state of Lovecraftian films, Marvel's The New Mutants and why it exists, and they get the names of the Beatles completely wrong. Hi all! It is our podcast's 4th birthday and our 83rd traditionally-numbered episode! We decided to celebrate by talking about movies from our birth year. 1983 was, as it turns out.... not the greatest year for movies, but we do have a few gems to share with you. Please enjoy our chat focusing on Return of the Jedi, War Games, MANY Stephen King adaptations, Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, and a little Mickey's Christmas Carol. Random recs this week are Brittany Runs a Marathon and Borderlands 3. As always, our lovely intro/outro music is We are Highscore by Krackatoa.
In the fourth of 5 episodes this week, Robert EG Black and Alice Lauren join Luke to review and discuss Monty Python films and celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Monty Python's Flying Circus, today they review Monty Python's The Meaning Of Life. Topics include the idea of "offending everyone equally", how sex education is taught in schools and some random discussion about Richard Curtis. All this and more are afoot in Episode 4 of Monty Python week on Please Be Seated. Tweet Us: @robertegblack @alimezh @llama_bottle0 @PleaseBeTweeted www.lukeallen.co.uk (http://www.lukeallen.co.uk/)
This month we are joined by Twitter influencer Matt "I want to be a lumberjack" Bandy as we talk Monty Python movies. Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Monty Python's Life of Brian (1979) and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life (1983). It's triple the pleasure and one-third the quality control.
It's Christmas time. And, according to Band Aid's spurious claim, there's no need to be afraid. So, here we are to let in light and banish shade during one of the most joyous/stressful times of the year. Just me and Tim this time, giving our tips for sanity retention over the Christmas period. Plus: • A fascinating educational moment where everyone learns about the celestial origins of Christmas. • Some men occasionally clanging scaffolding in the background. This is exactly the kind of accent I hoped we would get at Story Night months ago when I invited musicians to provide one song per night. It took an event dedicated to musical themes to add to what Lisa Nystrom did once during an earlier Story Night. Stephen Littfin provided a song written by Eric Idle for the movie "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life." It was the version he had heard by the late Steve Goodman. I'll let him tell the story.Any musicians who want to perform a song that tells a story and fits with that night's theme are welcome to contact me to set that up. We'll welcome one an event and it's not part of the judging. The song we end with was written by Steve Goodman and performed by Arlo Guthrie. It's "The City of New Orleans."Thank you for listening. We look forward to hearing your story.
