General Holt explains that AI models in war games demonstrate a bias toward violent escalation, often prioritizing "winning" over negotiation, which leads to nuclear conflict. He emphasizes the necessity of keeping humans in the loop and maintaining direct communications between rival nations to prevent automated catastrophe. 1959
PREVIEW: General Blaine Holt warns that military war games frequently escalate toward nuclear conflict, a tendency that integrating artificial intelligence might accelerate rather than mitigate. He argues that current models often lead to "civilization consequences," necessitating new simulation constructs focused on de-escalation despite aggressive geopolitical rhetoric.

Join the Wargames To Go (and Boardgames To Go) discord server https://discord.gg/vxEG9bMPdx Here's what I wrote last time... Quote: Ok, let's see how my attempt to tackle smaller topics more often actually goes. Can I get out one show/topic per quarter? That's my personal goal for the rest of 2025. Then I'll re-evaluate. FAIL Oh well, it was a noble goal. The reasons I didn't succeed in my goal are boring, so let's skip those. There's always next year, which isn't so far away! In this episode I do manage to bring my Norway topic to a conclusion, by playing not too many more games, but by seeing more films and going to this wonderful country. Like almost all traveling, it was a lovely experience. And like almost all my wargame explorations, I learned quite a lot. That's a win, in my book. Before I get to those games, movies, and travel, however, I use this opportunity to talk about my experience at SDHistCon last month. I'd been to this unique convention once before, and again it was a great experience. One of these days I hope to make it to the Circle DC event on the opposite coast, which sounds equally fantastic. For Norway, I was fortunate to visit in May, just in time for their national holiday. We arrived in Oslo and spent several days there. That included a side trip to Oscarsborg Fortress (Festning), which was instrumental in slowing down the German invasion and takeover of the capital & country. It's probably no exaggeration to say that the bold action of its commanding officer gave just enough time for the government and royal family to flee Oslo, ultimately forming a government-in-exile rather than one forced to surrender. Not to mention the evacuation of the nation's remaining gold reserves overseas, away from German hands (as happened in other countries). Guns of Oscarsborg Festning that fired across the narrow Oslofjord And here was the fire control room for the fixed torpedo tubes that stopped & sunk the invading Blucher cruiser The fortress museum has a great animated map of the entire event. Even in 2025 you can't always find the same things online. Oslo was an occupied capital for the entire war, and it contains a fantastic resistance museum. It made me think of the different ways countries were occupied, which ones had governments in exile, and other peculiarities. I also learned more about the various coastal raids that the British conducted in occupied Norway throughout the war. Films • Max Manus • The 12th Man • Suicide Mission • The Arctic Convoy • War Sailor • April 9th • Gold Run Outside and inside photos of the Hegra Festning (Fortres) that held out in northern Norway -Mark For my next topic I'm going to be looking at America's entry into WW2 in Europe, at least in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. Here's the geeklist for it.
Len, Nerium, and Mike kick back to highlight some of our favorite strategy and non-strategy games of 2025 that didn't make it to a full episode. There were how many Roman city-builders this year? And yes, sports management games do count as strategy. Even that one. Games discussed: Nova Roma Look Outside Lisa the Painful Total War Warhammer: Tides of Torment Skin Deep Ambrosia Sky Demonschool Phantom Brigade Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream Crusader Kings 3: All Under Heaven Mount & Blade 2: War Sails Cities Skylines 2 Victoria 3: Iberian Twilight Death Howl Heroes of Might & Magic: The Olden Era The Case of the Golden Idol Enigma Trilogy

This week on Kliq This, Kevin Nash and Sean Oliver settle into a wild mix of stories, opinions, and observations that only these two can deliver. The episode opens with a look at the shifting landscape of TV and wrestling distribution, which sends the conversation down a path that blends media changes with Kevin's dry, cutting perspective on how the business is adapting. It sets a tone that everything is on the table today. As the show gets moving, Kevin drifts into a run of personal stories that are funny, sharp, and sometimes unbelievable. A CPAP repair visit turns into a reflection on age. A routine oil change becomes a miniature saga about wiper blades and tire pressure. Long drives in the snow transform into beer math, cops in the rearview, and Kevin explaining how 18 beers somehow equals a quarter of the way to intoxicated. These stories flow fast, and they go places only Kevin can take them. From there, the conversation shifts into the world of wrestling. Kevin breaks down the physical reality of entrances, ring conditioning, performance rituals, and the small details most fans never get to hear. The talk deepens as they move to the mystery man from Survivor Series and the current discourse around wrestlers blowing up during matches. Kevin offers perspective that can only come from decades inside the ring and backstage. The episode also features a run of stories about legends like Harley Race and Andre, memories from the road, and reflections on working styles across generations. There are surprising detours involving stem cell treatments, Mad Men production errors, the structure of episodic wrestling, and what happens when you find yourself backstage with wrestlers who still believe in ritual and rhythm. Every few minutes brings something new that you did not see coming. By the end, the show swings from humor to industry insight to cultural commentary with a pace that feels effortless. Kevin and Sean move between TNA announcements, JCW talk, questions about who belongs under a hooded mask, and even a stark discussion about class and race in America. It is a heavy, hilarious, surprising, and wide ranging conversation that captures exactly why Kliq This remains one of the most unpredictable shows in wrestling media. Solomonster reviews WWE Raw after Survivor Series as Triple H promised us an EPIC SHOW. We didn't get an epic show, but what we got was largely good stuff with Jey Uso and LA Knight fighting for the right to lose to Gunther in the finals of "The Last Time Is Now" tournament, while Gunther and Solo Sikoa had a MUCH better match than most people expected. Plus, Bron Breakker has a date for his World championship match with CM Punk and just cut his best promo yet, and Liv Morgan has already made it clear who the REAL leader of the Judgment Day is.***Follow Solomonster on X (formerly Twitter) for news and opinion:http://x.com/solomonsterSubscribe to the Solomonster Sounds Off on YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/user/TheSolomonster?sub_confirmation=1Become a Solomonster Sounds Off Channel Member:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9jcg7mk93fGNqWPMfl_Aig/join
