Live Recorded Set from VirtualDJ Radio PowerBase
Label: Tribe 8308Year: 1965Condition: M-Price: $20.00Here's a beautiful copy of the single that Dave Marsh ranks at #491 in his list of the 1,001 greatest 45s of Rock'n' Soul. And don't neglect the terrific B side... also essential Sir Douglas Quintet! By the way, this was a non-album single until Tribe released a "Greatest Hits" LP in 1966. Fortunately, that LP contains both of these great tracks. Note: This 45 record has very nearly Mint labels. The vinyl and audio grade close to Mint as well.
Age is something we can't escape. Jeremy Bradley talks about how people react and talk about their age. From dodging the subject (ahem, executive producer, Bonnie Winters) to attempting to be playful ("how old do you think I am?"), JB wonders why people don't just say the number without making it an issue. He talks about being 43 but not "looking" or "feeling" it and questions why people lie about their age for vanity. ("You can say you're 39 all you want, it doesn't change anything about your body," he says.) Later, he laughs at people who post on social media that it's their birthday... solely for attention.

Label: Gordy 7069Year: 1968Condition: MPrice: $50.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy with a drillhole, in a rare original picture sleeve. Yes, I know this is on a Motown label, but it's still in the sweet Philly style :-) The flip, incidentally, is even better than the A side and is closer to the Motown sound (have a listen to the mp3 snippet in our "jukebox"). "Fading Away" was first recorded in 1966 by The Temptations and was pressed as the B side of their classic hit "Get Ready." Note: Aside from the drillhole, this beautiful 45 record is pristine Mint. The cool picture sleeve has a drillhole as well, but that's about it's only notable flaw. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)

Label: Elektra 47006Year: 1980Condition: MLast Price: $10.00. Not currently available for sale. This was the first release of this classic... it spent 13 weeks on the chart in this incarnation and then another 10 weeks when it was re-released on Elektra 47052 with "The Beat Goes On" on the B side. Note: This 45 record has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Island 99963 djYear: 1982Condition: MLast Price: $12.50. Not currently available for sale. This is a new, unplayed promo copy, in its original Island Records factory sleeve. There were so many really, really great funk grooves laid down in the early 1980s! Where did they come from, and where have they gone? This one was from the amazing, rarely heard followup to Jones' hit "Pull Up To The Bumper," and really socks it to ya. It's another rare example of a woman basically telling her man to take a hike, and tough if he don't like it. :-) This promo has the "Short" edit of the 5:55 album track on one side (which is what appears on retail copies) and a somewhat longer "Long" edit unique to the promo on the other. Note: This 45 record has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio). By the way, the audio is awesome... taking full advantage of the 45's ability to store so much more waveform information because of its faster spin and smaller diameter. (See our online book, "The Joy of 45 Collecting," for details.) The sound is very loud but crisp and clear as can be.

The sounds of New Orleans carry a mood that's both jubilant and deeply human; it dances and mourns in the same breath. It's the sound of the street parade meeting the juke joint: syncopated, earthy, and alive with horns, piano rolls, and that unmistakable backbeat shuffle. Unlike the more urban polish of Chicago blues or the rural cry of the Delta, New Orleans R&B has always felt like a conversation between the sacred and the profane, where gospel chords meet barroom swagger. Just beyond the Crescent City's lights, where the waters of the bayou take form, we've got the accordions and fiddles of the swamp, where there's humor, head and heartbreak woven into the DNA of the deep South. It is joyous and haunted, elegant and raw, as well as endlessly resilient. The music of New Orleans inspired an ethos — that music could be communal, unrestrained, and celebratory no matter the hardship. It taught America how to dance through its troubles, to find rhythm in resilience, and to turn sorrow into sound that still shakes the rafters and demands a communal dance to this day. This week's show raises the flag of the Crescent City and her environs with a rhythm and bayou romp!
Label: Mercury 74062 djYear: 1979Condition: M-Price: $10.00This terrific BTO single never saw the light of day on radio airwaves in 1979, unfortunately, but you can be sure it would have been a huge hit back in their mid-1970s heyday. This promo copy has the regular 4:06 album version on one side and a 3:55 "Edited Version" on the other... presumably cut to come just under that four-minute warning marker. This beautiful copy has pristine Mint sound.
Another two hours of great music from across the decades with songs from Sweet, Bananarama, Elvis Costello, Creedance, Dire Straits, R.E.M. Police, Kate Bush, Shalamar and more.

Halloween in America, on the anniversary of the first quarter century of the millennium. We celebrate the night by wearing masks, by flirting with fear, by turning the grotesque into entertainment. But here in 2025, you can't help but feel like the masks didn't come off this year. The trick-or-treaters will return home tonight, but the parade of make-believe monsters marched straight into the daylight this past January — and some of them are occupying the most important offices in our fragile democracy. What used to be a night for play-acting power, for pretending to be the villain, has turned into a movement that's forgotten the difference between costume and conviction. The slogans sound patriotic, the anger sounds righteous, and the cruelty wears the grin of normalcy. Halloween, at least, has an ending — sunrise, candy wrappers, a hangover of sugar and smoke. But America's current masquerade? The lights came on, and the masks stayed put. Our music on Halloween morning serves as a backdrop.

Hey Guys! so WOW this is the very last episode of my twenties that I'll put out for my podcast. WOW have my twenties have been a decade of ups and downs for myself. I feel like the first half of it was definitely a struggle (this was for sure before I started this podcast) but the latter half has been one lucky break after another for my career. not just as a podcaster but with my music as well. so I'm hoping to keep that energy going into the my thirties which start this week on Sunday. but anyways guys, I decided for this episode for this month, I went with a song that has a tie to my personal life, because hey, any influencer can give you fast facts on any Oldies hit on Tik Tok and Instagram, but this podcast is so much more than just that. it's somewhat related to my personal life but it isn't at the same time. You'll have to listen to this episode to find out exactly what I mean. anyways, here's the link to the song I talk about this week just in case you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGDvR-7ughY&list=RDEGDvR-7ughY&start_radio=1don't forget to also follow me on Instagram & Tik Tok right here:https://www.instagram.com/iheartoldies/https://www.tiktok.com/@iheartoldiesand yes guys, I JUST got another subscriber for the premium version of my podcast! AND she's the same age as me! so Woot Woot! another younger person subscribed to the premium version of my podcast. now that's what I"m talking about! I definitely need more of that. so if your around my age and you want to learn about all of this great music from the people that made it, definitely click the link right here: https://themillennialthrowbackmachine.supercast.com/and also, PLEASE do check out the Redbubble Merch store for this podcast! I would LOVE IT if you guys could support it & rep my cool new podcast merch! here's the link to that right here:https://www.redbubble.com/i/sticker/Fly-On-The-Wall-Stories-by-60sSam95/158056341.EJUG5also PLEASE do start pre gaming for my next EP/album that I'm recording right now by checking out the last one I released! the next one will be of the same great quality as the last one I released. here is the link to that right here:https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/samlwilliams/an-old-soul-with-new--remiagined-thingsIf you're just discovering this song now and your a Millennial/Gen Z and you've never heard this song before and you fell in LOVE with it and your around my age, then DEFINITELY email me at samltwilli@icloud.com, you can also follow me & reach out to me on Instagram & Tik Tok @iheartoldies. anyways guys, it's been a great run of putting out episodes of my podcast in my twenties. so many good things have happened to me in my late twenties compared to my early twenties, that I think that I'll attract more great things into my thirties. at leas that's the hope. even though I"m not 100% where I want to be at in my life right now turning 30, I think I'm getting closer and closer to being there. but anyways, I"m gonna try post more free episodes in the future, but I hope you guys enjoy the free episodes that I do upload. it's still fun doing this podcast even though the listenership hasn't blown up completely where I could start to attract sponsors. like I said, I'm more about educating younger people & turning younger people on to this music than I am trying to blow this show up & having most of the listeners be boomers who heard this music when it was new. anyways, I'll talk to you guys again in my thirties, but until then, PLEASE, keep things groovy!.

Label: Stardust 1215Year: 1989Condition: MPrice: $7.00Originally released on Mango 126. One of the most delightful dance tunes of 1989... with a reggae-style beat and horns that make it impossible to sit still. This copy is pressed on a marbelized colored vinyl. Like the original Mango 45, the B side is an instrumental version.
Label: Motown 1103Year: 1967Condition: M Price: $25.00It's clear that Diana Ross' spoken interlude in this underrated Supremes single was one of Michael Jackson's greatest vocal inspirations. His little hiccup surely started from late-night air-guitar sessions when Michael would sing along with Diana on this one. :-) The B side is another fine H-D-H tune. This single is also remarkable for the manic mastery of James Jamerson's bass playing. Right from the get-go, his bass starts running away behind the scenes and just doesn't stop for breath! Of course, it's much easier to hear and appreciate that instrument when the audio is as clear and the mix as perfect as on this original 45. (Note: Jamerson was inducted into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame in 2000.) Collector Nerd Alert: The track time on the 45 shows 2:35, but my recording of the song is 2:45, about the same as the LP cut's 2:47. Label: Casablanca 884Year: 1977Condition: MPrice: $12.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy, in its original Casablanca factory sleeve. Listening to this, it's easy to see how Summer became the queen of the disco/tech in the late 1970s, helped enormously by great material and by Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte's distinctive techno arrangements. The mp3 snippet is an edit from the middle of the track, trying to capture in 2 minutes or less the essence of the music; it's a compromise, though. If you don't have the full 5:53 music, be sure to get it! This is the second pressing, which shows "Side A" for "I Feel Love;" the single was originally released plugging "Can't We Just..." and showing "I Feel Love" as "Side B." The B side is edited from a 4:25 album track. Note: This copy has light storage wear that lowers the Label grade to Near Mint. The wax and audio are pristine.
Label: Decca 32846Year: 1971Condition: M-Price: $15.00Featuring one of the all-time greatest screams in rock 'n' roll. This is a major, terrific edit (3:37) from the 8-plus minutes on the "Who's Next" album. There are times when you want to hear the whole thing, but the single really does capture the song's essence in a much more compact form! The B side is a non-album cut. Note: This copy has a drillhole and comes in a vintage Decca Records factory sleeve. (This scan is a representative image from our archives; the drillhole on this copy is located on the right side of the label (doesn't obscure any text). The vinyl looks almost untouched, and the audio sounds pristine Mint.
Friday mornings feature a two-hour journey through sound, soul, and even a dash of storytelling from the past century of America's music. Tune in as Dave Stroud weaves an eclectic blend of genres that don't always share a shelf, but definitely share a spirit. From the aching twang of country ballads to the velvet grooves of soul, as well as the thumping rhythms of rock…we've got it all. We'll also be adding a touch of gospel to uplift and some shimmering pop in the show today. Legends and unsung heroes side by side—think John Fogerty easing into a track from BR5-49, or some classic Charlie Musselwhite introducing the soulful sounds of Solomon Burke. This isn't a greatest hits show—it's a feeling. It's about the moments when music surprises you, connects you, and makes you feel more you. So whether you're tuning in from the road, the living room, or somewhere in between, turn it up and let the music take you somewhere new..
Label: RCA 0368Year: 1970Condition: M-Price: $16.00This beautiful tune was Michael Nesmith's biggest post-Monkees hit, and one of my favorite songs of all time! :-) Note: This release is credited to "Michael Nesmith & the First National Band." Comes with a vintage RCA factory sleeve.

https://ontargetpodcast.caThis week's On Target hits with the force of a well-aimed 45. Mod Marty digs deep into his crates to pull out a wild mix of soul burners, R&B shakers, and mod anthems that refuse to sit still. Every transition snaps, every groove hits just right. It's the sound of passion pressed into wax and spun with purpose.--------------------------------------The playlist is:"Mama Said"Little Eva- Spring"It's Love Baby (24 Hours A Day)"Hank Ballard & The Midnighters- King"Oh! Label: Team 518Year: 1968Condition: M-Price: $22.00On this great Bubblegum record, the A side mines psych-rock for the fuzz guitar and frantic pace, while the flip sounds very much like something Tommy James & the Shondells would have recorded. (Check out the mp3 snippet.) This group made no albums, by the way, so this was a non-album single. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Buddah Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels and, despite a few scuffs on the wax, very nearly Mint audio. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
We'll be rolling back our Hillbilly Wayback Machine to the year 1950 for romance in high pants at the barn dance. Country music really hadn't yet caught on as a genre so a lot of the music we'll share today had the misfortune of being coined “hillbilly music”; a blend of silver screen cowboy nostalgia for the lone prairie alongside swinging arrangements and occasional ballads of the heart. You even had yourself some down-home novelty and syncopated vocals that looked out at that land beyond the sun where the tumbleweeds bounced across the horizon. Without further waxing of the poetic, we'll let you know that you'll be treated to some very best from under the blanket of the prairie sky including the likes of Smiley Burnette, Jimmy Wakely, Tin Ear Tanner, Zeb Turner and Leon Chappel. These weren't necessarily the big hits but they were honky tonk and jukebox favorites. Drop in and find out.
Label: Def Jam 05665Year: 1985Condition: MPrice: $12.00This is a beautiful stock copy, in its original Def Jam factory sleeve. I'm so glad to have this one back in stock, at least for awhile! I just can't live without my L.L. Cool J! By the way, both sides of this 45 are specially edited from longer album tracks of 5:27 and 5:07, respectively. Note: This copy has light storage wear that lowers the Label grade to Near Mint. The wax and audio are pristine.Collector Nerd Alert: Here's another case where if one behaves like a man from Mars and looks at this record's labels with no other information about the record, one would conclude that "I Can Give You More" was the intended A side, and perhaps it was. But to persist in acting as if that's the record's "A" side in the face of overwhelming sales and airplay data that show "I Can't Live Without My Radio" was L.L. Cool J's first hit, reaching #15 on Billboard's Black/RnB Singles chart, and it's also the side that lands him at #550 on Dave Marsh's list of the 1,001 greatest 45s of Rock'n'Soul. Yes, the market-demoted "B" side is a fine piece of Rap/Hip-Hop, but the award for most significant side, and therefore the "A" side in our way of thinking, clearly goes to "...Radio". That's the side collectors will be seeking, and it should be placed rightfully as the "A" side of this particular 45, the label information notwithstanding. It behooves any discography to put each record in the context of its period in terms of chart data, airplay and sales data, and awards of various kinds from institutions and influential writers.
