Ash and Avery delve into the depths of the film industry - watching and reviewing every movie SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO.
It took some real legwork but we pushed through Zack Snyder's Justice League for our review!
Man we really picked a real and ridiculous smattering of movies for this episode. Check us out on our good friends, Idiots Discuss the Universe: https://idiotsdiscusstheuniverse.podbean.com/e/one-star-reviews-with-special-guests-for-the-story-podcast-idiots-discuss-the-universe-episode-198/
We snarted all over this episode
Movies don't exist anymore
We went full Scroobles on this episode. You'll know what I mean
We also review the a capello cover of Battery
Will Wonder Woman 1984 save the 2020 movie cycle? No? Yeah we don't think so either. Join Ash and Avery for their breakdown of the hottest, and only, movie - that's come out since Tenet.
No, this isn't a step by step guide from your boys at For The Story, it's just the name of the movie we watched. Amongst others!
I'm not going to go ahead and say this is rock bottom for Ash and Avery, but they have been watching more pointless Christmas movies than usual.
We're covering our bases for the last couple years of Blockbusters seeing Jumanji! We watched the first and second installations of the rebooted storyline and were surprised at how concise and fun they were. Drop us 5 stars on Apple Podcasts if you're logged in! It only takes a second and we'll read your comment on the pod once we see it.
yes, this is indeed the lineup for the newest episode of FOR THE STORY. Movies aren't even real anymore, oh god help. Please email suggestions to us at forthestorypodcast@gmail.com.
The Demond Drolpth Nadert strikes again in NEON DEMON! Avery and Ash are slowly turning into...Catalytic Converters
Christmas came early this year folks, and notable Christians Avery and Asher talk about some of the best Christmas films ever released, The Ruins and Aftershock! They also discuss horror movies like Holidate, Eli Roth (the man, himself) and The Christmas Date.
LOOK OUT! FTS is back with a holy bunch of crappy (and less crappy) movies that they watched over the past 2 weeks or so. We have a lot so we just rapid fire them off. Happy Halloweiner!
Grim from Grim Yells at a Cloud joins us today on FOR THE STORY! He picked a couple absolute bangers for us to watch. Check his podcast out here:http://fantasyhousenetwork.com/grim-yells.html
As the month gets deeper and spookier, we found a movie that can barely even be considered a movie. Ash loved it
WooooOOOOoooooo FOR THE SPOOKY is BACK again for the most wonderful time of the year, HALLOWEEN MONTH! Avery and Ash crack open Ginger Snaps, 1, 2 & 3 for a full series retrospective and review. We're back with a timely review of the Bill & Ted movies! These films were a lovely and surreal distraction from the horrors of the everyday world.
In our most eclectic mash-up yet, we watch masterpiece films such as the newly released The New Mutants, as well as Donnie Brasco and even Spy Kids: 4D. We've completely lost control
Avery and Ash had attempted to watch a ridiculous amount of rom-coms, but instead settled on another excellent film about Suburban Judaism - Two Night Stand. They also watched A Serious Man, the best Rom Com the Coen Brothers ever made.
SEE?! BLOODSHOT! HEHE Yeah that's right Avery and Ash are back posting cringe on this brand new episode of FOR THE STORY. Bloodshot is the last movie to ever come out in theaters for all eternity and Safety Not Guaranteed is a hipster movie about Mark Duplass's Mark Dupenis. Come join us for a time as we break these movies down.
We were on Get Soft With Dr. Snuggles! We talked about the softcore film Broadcast Bombshells with our good friends from Down Under. These guys are hilarious and their show is wonderful, give them a shot: https://get-soft-with-dr-snuggles.zencast.website/?fbclid=IwAR2qGXUEMsWYeThMk66TQjal3ugEqOkFF_vEwUp9wW5rjYrMUrT1COnGcoQ Ash was on Grim Yells at a Cloud! His show is super thought provoking and they discuss Ash's second passion (behind movies obv), Economics. Avery and Ash scramble wildly to find a movie - ANY movie to discuss this week. The theaters are dead in this post apocalyptic, cinema-barren wasteland of Austin, Texas - They've resorted to their one true enemy - gritty Fairy Tale remakes from the early 2010's. God save us
Avery and Ash fully commit to selling their souls to the Movie Devil and admit that they've jumped the shark on this episode of For The Story. The Kissing Booth 2 just came out and it's the closest thing we've had to a theatrical release in MONTHS. Sit back and hear about our "favorite" movies on Netflix right now.
Avery and Ash seemingly randomly picked 3 nearly totally unrelated movies to talk about on this episode of FTS. They're also in glorious 720p CGI that cost Avery a TON of money.
We got new mics! They sound super good. We talk about movies on this episode of our movie podcast.
Bringing it back around with the second part of our ENTIRE Harry Potter review, all 8 movies. In this Part 2, we discuss the latter half of the films, starting with 5 and ending with 8.
Harry Potter. Glarey Otter. Mary Scotter. Larry Snotter. Jeremy Scrobler. Jerithee Scribler. Jericho Smidgen. Porcini Musher. Andrew Derwint. God this is way too many movies for me to handle. Ash and Avery break down films 1-4 of the Harry Potter series in excruciating detail and sometimes not enough detail. They talk Anti-Semitic goblins, LITERAL TIME TRAVEL, and about so many mundane details riddled with dues ex machina. Tune in later this week for the thrilling conclusion.
Have you or someone you love been hurt by an increasing and unyielding urge to commit financial crimes? Well this may be the podcast episode for you. Guaranteed to turn that urge into cold. hard. cash. The For The Story boys discuss X-Men Ripoffs, a movie whose name is lost to the annals of time, and the Jack Black feel good Ponzi Scheme movie of the year.
We are back and better than Ezra. You read the right. Fuck you Ezra Miller, Avery and Ash are going to play the Flash now. We do another double feature, this time talking about less mainstream super hero movies. We got bears with miniguns, glowing superheroes, inviso-jill. Make sure to leave us 5 stars on Apple Podcasts so more people can learn the importances of bear-based stakes in film.
Avery and Ash are back again for the second week in a row, talking about more movies they were actually able to finish watching before giving up!
This week Avery and Ash discuss Jennifer's Body, The Green Inferno, and Ingrid Goes West! You'll have to guess which one we liked best.
After a break, we finally watched a movie interesting enough to warrant discussion! That's right, even if you have heard of this movie, it's doubtful you saw it, because NO ONE did! Directed by David Robert Mitchell, Under The Silver Lake stars Andrew Garfield, a 30-something attempting to crack the code of his beautiful neighbor who goes missing before he gets evicted from his apartment. This movie is a neo-noir masterpiece. Come join us in our discussion!
Don't worry, we aren't dead! But we are the next best thing, coming off our viewing of Yoga Hosers.
This week on FTS Alistair and Siobhan, hosts of Get Soft With Dr. Snuggles, join us for our review of CHRISTIAN MINGLE! Find Get Soft With Dr. Snuggles at: http://www.gogocompaneros.com/show/get-soft-with-dr-snuggles/?fbclid=IwAR2bjLLAYSNyl3YTfVRp2bY7fx9qpKWjzfC2JvvfN9_8Ywj_aRL7qmS7KuE
Tammy and the T-Rex, aka Tanny and the Teenage T-Rex, stars Denise Richards, Paul Walker, and Terry Kiser. A teen (Denise Richards) learns that a scientist (Terry Kiser) implanted her dead boyfriend's brain (Paull Walker) into an animatronic dinosaur. This is a weird movie with a weirder cast! Come hang with us!
Come Join FOR THE STORY as we discuss one of our favorite movies we've watched in quite some time. We had to wade through about 30 found footage exorcism films to get there, though. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a 1975 American comedy-drama film directed by Miloš Forman, based on the 1962 novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey. The film stars Jack Nicholson as Randle McMurphy, a new patient at a mental institution, and features a supporting cast of Louise Fletcher, William Redfield, Will Sampson, Sydney Lassick, Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito and Christopher Lloyd in his film debut. Check out Get Soft with Dr. Snuggles! We love those guys to death and they deserve your listens as well. https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/companeros-radio-network/get-soft-with-dr-snuggles Also check out our good friends Jeremy and Steve on their Virtual Bartending show! They're cool funny dudes and would love you to pop in. https://www.facebook.com/events/2732554493645665/2734269770140804/?notif_t=admin_plan_mall_activity¬if_id=1586489665657858 Ash and Avery also stream on Twitch MWF 9PM CT @ twitch.tv/Battleslap - they play all sorts of games. Come say hi!
If you haven't yet, leave us 5 stars on Apple Podcasts! You can also hang out and play video games with us at Twitch.tv/battleslap. We're always talking about movies and goofing off. This week Ash and Avery have gone off the rails and accidentally watched every single Paranormal Activity movie, and found themselves more entertained than expected. Come listen and let us know what you think! You can email us at forthestorypodcast@gmail.com or follow us on Instagram @forthestorypodcast.
If you haven't yet, rate us 5 stars on Apple Podcasts! Also, join us MWF 9PM CT at twitch.tv/battleslap for our video game live streams! Avery and Ash get back on track after having watched far too many movies over the weekend. Oh, and also Black Swan. Stick around until the end of the episode to hear our picks for next month!! Come curl in, chill out, and listen to ya boys during quarantine to keep yourself from murdering your spouse.
Well it's been a wet and wild week here in Austin. Coronavirus everywhere. We've been cooped up, watching some movies, and decided on a change of plans to get the new episode up - all the theaters are closed, so no Bloodshot. Things will hopefully get back to normal sometime soon so we can get back on track! But until the quarantine is over we're going to have to dig into the depths of film and pull out whatever we can find. Stay safe and wash your hands everyone!
WE'RE FINALLY IN AUSTIN! We drove WAY too much in two days through the God-Forsaken Apocalyptic Desert of the American Southwest. Ash moved here and we're recording eps in person! We're still setting up the studio so please forgive the little bit of extra reverb for this episode and probably next week's as well. Hopefully our humor compensates. Dog Soldiers was kind of boring so we also talk about The Invisible Man aka Inviso-Bill, aka The Invincible Man. If Arthas's Horse's name is Invincible then how come you can see him?
In this episode, Ash pretends he wasn't excited for this movie, Avery pronounced "Akimbo" wrong, and Kimbo Slice's unsettled spirit makes a brief but impactful cameo
We haven't gone over the edge, you have! We still watch real movies sometimes, just next month.
Come with us on a journey to hell and back, with nothing but our pale blue fur, skinny legs and human teeth. Spencer of Idiots Discuss the Universe and The Odious fame joins us as Ash reveals Spencer's sorted history, Avery can't get over how much this movie is just Detective Pikachu, and Spencer extorts Ash and Avery over $12.50.
WATCH OUT! This movie has a totally ridiculous title and Avery is NOT going to type the whole thing out. Avery and Ash make promises they can't keep on this episode of FOR THE STORY - get in on it now before they redact the offer.
FOR THE STORY returns to its impromptu Lovecraft kick with the 2nd best movie based on his work - Dagon, from 2001. It's getting WET and WILD down here at FOR THE STORY, the only podcast hosted by Ichthian Horrors. What's that smell? That's right, it's FISH. and FOR THE STORY.
This movie rules. Avery and Ash were happy, and believe me, this is rare. Especially nowadays with the long-standing Cold War of bad films Come join us and hang out for a bit!
Monty Python's The Meaning of Life, directed by Terry Jones, was released in the UK in 1983, and features the entire Monty Python comedy troupe performing a series of comedic sketches that comment on the various phases of one's life, in order from Birth to Death. Avery and Ash talk about it, as well as the state of Lovecraftian films, Marvel's The New Mutants and why it exists, and they get the names of the Beatles completely wrong. Check out our YouTube Channel where we play games and goof off! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_JMhianIM5GLHV2U2rtZuQ? We also stream video games and conversation Saturday nights at 11:30PM Central: https://www.twitch.tv/battleslap
This Episode of FOR THE STORY is sponsored by Podcorn! Under the Skin was directed by Jonathan Glazer and premiered on 29 August 2013 at the Telluride Film Festival. Avery and Asher have two very polarizing opinions on this film, which leads to a very interesting and in-depth conversation! Join us as we discuss negative noise, and what it means to be human. And lonely.
