It's part two of our focus on the impact of lockdown on Young Carers across the country. Last week we heard about the first hand experience of Carers, today we here what help is, and should, be available to them. Mick's guests are both former Young Carers. During lockdown, they embarked on the challenge of creating an anthology of work from people from all walks of life reflecting on their thoughts, feelings, aspirations and fears about life under Covid19 and beyond. On this week's Mental Health Monday, Mick Coyle was joined by Anna Griffith & Megan Peet from Malit in the Community, a C.I.C working to create social change through drama by exploring taboo topics such as mental health, self image, sexual consent, & social media. As they prepare an ambitious creative project aimed at getting men to speak more openly about their mental health, they joined Mick for a discussion of all the services they offer, and how this has affected them personally. In the future, Malit will be working with the company ‘Mpower’ on ‘The Returner Project’. The project is to support women who have been out of work for over 18 months due to carer or parental responsibilities to return to work including training, advice/guidance and support. Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Phil Davies, joined Mick Coyle after the council released images of what Birkenhead could look like with a billion pound regeneration project. Mick was joined by rugby league legend Phil Veivers and Adam Daniels to talk about 'Offload', a programme that uses rugby league to engage men on ways to build their mental fitness. Offload is led by their community team, former Rugby League players and other members of the Rugby League community, including coaches and referees.
