No empātijas līdz apātijai ir viens solis, tā varētu teikt par kādu interesantu fenomenu, ko dažkārt redzam sabiedrībā. Kad kāds garāmgājējs nonāk nelaimē, mēs steidzamies palīgā, ja apkārt nav citu cilvēku. Kolīdz šāda situācija notiek pūlī, reakcija palīdzēt kavējas. Psiholoģijā to dēvē par garāmgājēja efektu. (..) Treškārt, mums ir jāuzņemas atbildība. Un šeit parādās klasiskais saucamais pasīvā novērotāja efekts, jo vairāk ir vēl citu liecinieku bez mums, jo mazāka varbūtība, ka mēs būsim tie, kuri pieslēgsies, mēģinās kaut ko darīt," skaidro Ģirts Dimdiņš. "(..) To biežāk dara vīrieši," analizē Ģirts Dimdiņš. Viņu izvēle - Dexter Dias "10 types of human" (Desmit cilvēku tipi) un Cathy O'Neil "Weapons of Math Destruction" (Matemātikas iznīcināšanas ieroči).

As home-based early childcare picks up in popularity, Barnardos-employed mother and daughter duo Iman and Hanin Taqieh speak about how it helped change their lives as new mums. Making shifts in their careers to become homebased educators was a decision that gave them flexibility and purpose after their family moved here from Jordan. Hanin Taqieh is community coordinator with Barnardos where she leads the home-based portfolio supporting over 40 home-based educators in Auckland – including her own mum Iman, who's herself, been with Barnardos for twenty years as an educator.
Protams, labāk iet ārā no telpām.

At Honeymoon Acres in New Holstein, the greenhouse is more than a place for plants; it’s a story of family, hard work, and a dream that quite literally grew from the ground up. Joe and Marci McShaw started their business more than 40 years ago with just $5 and a single 1,000-square-foot greenhouse. Today, Honeymoon Acres has blossomed into what many call “plant heaven,” drawing visitors from across Wisconsin for its vast selection. While most people think of greenhouses in the spring, the fall season is just as vibrant here, with 37,000 chrysanthemums stealing the show. For the McShaws, what began as persistence, know-how, and a lot of dirt under their nails has become an agricultural tourism destination that continues to grow season after season.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

If you've ever been told your baby is “broken” because they don't sleep through the night, you're not alone. So many mums feel pressured by rigid schedules, conflicting advice, and the constant comparison game. But here's the truth: babies aren't meant to sleep like adults, and understanding their natural biology can make a world of difference for both you and your little one.In this episode, Dr Renee White sits down with Professor Helen L. Ball, Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Durham Infancy & Sleep Centre. Helen has spent decades researching infant sleep and is the founder of the Baby Sleep Information Source (BASIS). Her work bridges the gap between science and parenting, offering evidence-based guidance that supports both parents and health professionals.Together, Renee and Helen explore the realities of baby sleep, challenge outdated myths, and share practical ways you can feel more confident (and more rested). You'll hear about:The origins of strict baby sleep schedules – and why they don't align with infant biology.Safe bedsharing and breastfeeding – what the research actually shows.Swaddling myths – how it impacts arousal, feeding, and safety.Recognising when sleep struggles might signal something else – and when to seek help.Practical strategies you can try tonight to harmonise your rest with your baby's natural rhythms.Whether you're a first-time mum trying to navigate newborn nights or a parent feeling burnt out by sleep advice that just doesn't work for your family, this conversation is here to bring you clarity, reassurance, and some much-needed perspective. You're not doing it wrong. Your baby isn't broken. The workforce participation of mothers with young children is dropping sharply, with reports from the US showing the biggest decline in four decades. Helen explores the picture here with David MacKenzie from recruitment firm Mackenzie Jones, and Ruth Dance, employee experience consultant and mum of three young boys. Meanwhile, we examine the UAE's ban on unhealthy food in school dining halls with dietician Tonie-Maria Abi Nader and Magnus Mumby from Food Nation. In this encore episode of Down the Garden Path, Joanne shares tips for choosing fall mums and asters. Topics covered in this week's episode: Chrysanthemums, many horticultural varieties and cultivars exist including tender florist mums (a favourite of mine because of how long they stay blooming in a vase). Or Garden mums, more commonly known as fall mums. All Chrysanthemums are native to East Asia and Northeastern Europe. They became popular in North American gardening during the early to mid-20th century. Overall, fall or autumn gardening in the U.S. became particularly prominent in the 1950s and 1960s. Their popularity grew thanks to their vibrant colours of mums—ranging from deep reds and oranges to yellows and purples—this made them a popular choice for fall displays. Their ability to bloom late into the season and withstand cooler temperatures also contributed to their popularity in autumn gardening. Fall mums grown for our gardens are fertilized and pruned heavily to maintain their dense growth while in containers. It is possible to overwinter them in the garden but without regular maintenance, they can get quite large (tall and wide over a season or two). You often hear of gardeners or articles mentioning mid-summer to cut back or pinch back the foliage on garden mums that are being grown in the garden to slow down their growth and size. If growing in the garden, they benefit from mulching to protect them from the freeze and thaw most of us experience in our Ontario gardens or gardens in zones 4-6. They can be prone to spider mites and aphids as well as powdery mildew. Mildew especially if they are allowed to get large in the garden and then crowd with other plants and especially when there is high humidity and/or overhead watering. The downside of mums: As a designer, my goal is to create gardens that are all season with something happening at all times and for there really not be a need for high-maintenance annuals. I do realize that there are times and places in the yard where one might want a pop of colour -- even me! Potted mums perform much better in cooler temperatures. Unfortunately, garden centres seem to start selling them earlier and earlier each season. They are thirsty plants when in pots, especially in the heat. If the pots aren't watered regularly they die very quickly and I think homeowners think they can revive them. Once they have dried out, they are a throwaway plant. Don't get me started on the plastic waste they generate! A better plant option for fall: asters! There are 32 different species of aster in Ontario and over 100 species in North America. There is a place for one in every garden or even a pot if you choose! While some pollinators might visit garden mums for pollen that is where the benefit ends. Asters not only supply pollen for honeybees and native bees, they also feed adult butterflies and we all want more of those in our gardens. They are host plants or over 100 species of caterpillars, nature's bird feeders. Where there are caterpillars, there will be birds! You may be lucky to find New England asters in pots at your big box store. They are transplantable and will overwinter in the garden. In addition to the New England asters, there are several other native varieties that are sold in the perennial section of your garden centres. There is a variety of aster for every garden. New England Asters Symphyotrichum novaeangliae: (purple, light purple) Full to part sun, blooms August to October, moist average soil. Swamp Aster Symphyotrichum puniceum: (purple, light purple) Full to part sun, August to October, wet garden area White Wood Eurybia divaricate: Part shade to full shade, September to October and will grow in a garden from moist to dry. Heart Leaf Aster Symphyotrichum cordifolium: (lavender to light blue) Part shade to full shade, September to October, medium to dry soil Note: It is also recommended to pinch back or cut back asters in June to prevent them from getting too big and floppy. Bauskas novada čempionātā sacenšas 10 - 11 komandas no visa novada.

Pētījums katrā pilsētā ilga nepilnas piecas dienas no trešdienas līdz svētdienai, Kuldīgā mums bija 423, Liepājā - 563 dalībnieki nepilnās piecās dienās un Ventspilī - 380 dalībnieku.
Salesforce RVP Lauren McGuire has lived the full arc of modern sales leadership. She started as an SDR in California, helped build high-performing BDR teams through hypergrowth and an IPO, jumped into AE management at multiple startups, then relocated to London with two young children to scale regional teams. In this conversation, Lauren opens up about what those chapters really felt like and how she kept her family at the center while growing her career. We talk through the early return to work after maternity leave in the US, the adrenaline of standing up outbound engines from scratch, and the reality of being close to the pulse of a startup when you also have small humans who need dinner at six. Lauren shares how a move to the UK reshaped family logistics, school choices, and the friendships that make a new city feel like home. Lauren breaks down the difference between leading inside a large, established company and the all-hands-on-deck energy of startups, including where exposure to decision making is plentiful and where it is limited. She explains her leadership style, why empathy is a performance tool, and how she aligns coaching moments to each person's long-term goals so the tough days still make sense. We also get practical. Lauren walks us through the weekly rhythm that keeps her household running, the role of an after-school nanny, and the simple agreements that reduce friction at home. There is gym time at 6 a.m., shared calendars, planned meals, and just enough spontaneity on weekends to keep it fun. Her final takeaways are clear. Build a structure that fits your life, protect time for your health, and remember that family wellbeing is the foundation everything else sits on. On this week's Mums on Cloud Nine podcast, we're tackling one of the biggest challenges many women face after having children or entering perimenopause: maintaining a healthy weight while balancing everything else in life. Heather is joined by Charlotte Norton, Chief Medical Officer at The Slimming Clinic, who brings both her medical expertise and lived experience as a mum to the conversation. Together, they explore why weight can be so hard to manage, the role of hormones at different life stages, and the emotional connection many of us have with food. Nicole Bunyon is a trail runner, mum of 3 and founder of Running Mums Australia (RMA).RMA is an Australia-wide network and community for mums who love to, or are interested in, running. You can't go to a running or triathlon event in Australia without seeing a woman sporting their distinctive logo. While RMA shares many women's stories, I wanted to turn the tables (and microphone) and Nicole and share her story. We discuss how she started running as a child and why it appealed to her at that age, her first marathon, how being diagnosed with a melanoma (skin cancer) in 2016 changed her perspective and why it's so important to trust your gut instinct.Nicole is also an ambassador for several running events including Ultra Trail Australia so we discuss whether she feels the weight of expectation of others or pressure to perform as a result of her public profile in the sport.

A judge has ordered the Bell Hotel to remove all illegal migrants within 14 days. The people stood up — and they WON. But Britain is still being betrayed. Starmer has scrapped Rwanda, left our borders wide open, and proven he is weak. Trump showed that strength works — he crushed illegal immigration in America within months. Starmer has delivered nothing but chaos. Now it's time for action. A State of Emergency must be declared. Troops must be sent to Dover. The Navy must patrol the Channel. Every hotel must be cleared. Illegal migrants must be housed only in secure army camps, behind barbed wire, in tents — not in our communities. New arrivals must be returned immediately to France. The ECHR must be torn up. The people demand deportation — not accommodation. Starmer has lost control.
