Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) joins us this week for a candid conversation about his upbringing on film sets and how his competitive nature that couldn't get used anymore in the NFL helped him land a career changing role as Superman in Lois & Clark. Dean talks about the nerves and his edge during the audition process to become Superman, while taking an honest moment to share his experience with ‘the best Lois Lane' herself, Teri Hatcher. We also talk about cutting his teeth in Hollywood during his father's development of Young Guns, growing up mixed raced with a family that was in internment camps, and what it's like to have your friends find your mom in Playboy. Case and Jmike are joined by Ed Gross to talk about his books on Superman! Voices From Krypton Superman: The Definitive History Overview In this engaging podcast interview, hosts Case Aiken and Jmike welcome Ed Gross, a prolific author known for his in-depth oral histories, particularly focusing on Superman. The conversation begins with an exploration of Ed's background and his extensive work, including the recently released 'The Definitive History of Superman' and the ambitious 'Voices from Krypton,' which features insights from 250 interviews. Ed shares the intricate process behind creating oral histories, akin to piecing together a jigsaw puzzle, while delving into the complex history of Superman's creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. The dialogue highlights Ed's personal connection to Superman and discusses the legacy of the character, as well as his experiences interviewing various actors who have portrayed Superman. The episode concludes with an announcement of a book giveaway to the listeners, further engaging the audience with Ed's work. Notes Introduction to Ed Gross and His Superman Projects (00:00 - 11:37) Case Aiken and Jmike welcome guest Ed Gross to discuss his Superman books. Ed wrote 'Voices from Krypton,' an oral history of Superman that includes interviews with Case. Ed recently completed 'The Definitive History of Superman.' Ed explains his background in oral histories, starting with Star Trek's 50th anniversary in 2015. Oral histories allow presentation of multiple perspectives, including conflicting views. Ed has written 14 books in 9 years, including oral histories of Star Trek, Star Wars, James Bond. 'Voices from Krypton' was a dream project that utilized 40 years of Ed's interviews. Interviews are structured to tell a coherent story while maintaining authentic voices. The book includes 250 interviews in total, creating a 333,000-word, 750-page tome. Superman has appeared in some form of production every decade since 1938. ️ Superman's Creation and Complex History (22:26 - 32:30) Ed compares Siegel and Shuster's work-for-hire situation to actors in Gilligan's Island and Star Trek. Despite selling rights for 130, Siegel and Shuster made equivalent of 6 million in first nine years. Ed highlights Neil Adams' significant role in advocating for Superman's creators. Ed discusses his personal connection to Superman since age 5. Superman remains one of Ed's lifetime obsessions alongside Star Trek, Beatles, James Bond. Ed notes he can trace his lifelong interests to a five-year period in his childhood (1967-1972). Ed expresses gratitude for being able to write about his childhood passions professionally. Superman: The Definitive History Book (32:30 - 43:07) Ed was approached to create official Superman history after 'Voices from Krypton' success. MAGA has maintained an understandably rosy view of Donald Trump's second term so far, but surely there's a limit to their dedication? Well, the first test may be here. Trump won the 2024 election on the promise of ending wars and putting America first, but the 47th president is now claiming that a ceasefire in Palestine may mean ‘relocating' Palestinian people or even sending US troops to the Gaza strip. Many of those in the pro-Palestine camp believe this was always Israel's plan, and that Benjamin Netanyahu has manipulated Trump into working for Israel's interests, not America's. So is Trump serious? Could US soldiers really end up keeping the peace in Gaza? Is moving the Palestinians out really the only option left? Piers Morgan puts all these questions up for debate, with host and founder of 'The Young Turks' Cenk Uygur, commentator and author Batya Ungar-Sargon, host of the 'Part of the Problem Podcast' Dave Smith and actor Dean Cain. Then, former Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi joins Piers in the studio for his take on the current situation. Protect your wealth with precious metals! Dean Cain was removed from a photo by a DC Comics news account on X. The photo in question had SIX Superman actors appearing together at MegaCon in Orlando this past weekend. While Tyler Hoechlin, Brandon Routh, Tim Daly, George Newbern, and Tom Welling were intact, Cain was cropped from the righthand side of the photo. Why? We can speculate it's probably because of Cain's outspoken conservative opinions. ✨ Shadowbinders Pin Set Campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/nydaria/shadowbinders-steampunk-fantasy-hard-enamel-pin-set-series-1

The fight for America's future isn't just at the ballot box—it's in the culture. The Left's grip on media, education, and storytelling has reshaped the nation, but their misinformation is starting to crumble. Politics alone won't save us—conservatives must reclaim the culture and shape the values that define our country. Andrew Klavan joins The Kevin Roberts Show for a must-listen conversation on why, and how, we must fight back. The Left has used storytelling to rewrite America—now it's time to take it back. Andrew Klavan is the host of "The Andrew Klavan Show" for the Daily Wire and author of such internationally bestselling crime novels as True Crime, filmed by Clint Eastwood, Don't Say A Word, filmed and starring Michael Douglas and Empire of Lies. Stephen King called him “the most original novelist of crime and suspense since Cornell Woolrich.” As a screenwriter, Andrew wrote the screenplays to “A Shock to the System,” which starred Michael Caine, “One Missed Call,” which starred Edward Burns, and “Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer,” starring Dean Cain. He also wrote the script for the groundbreaking iOS app, “Haunting Melissa,” which won the 2014 Appy Award for Entertainment.

Thousands of people have lost everything they hold dear, and now, their collective gaze is turning to the authorities responsible for the city's management; namely Governor Gavin Newsom and Mayor Karen Bass. In this passionate show, Monica offers the perfect crystallization of the election: America Last vs America First as she rips Biden/Harris for their callous disregard for the suffering of our fellow Americans in the southeast as they've spent FEMA's entire budget on illegal aliens with nothing left for us. She also recaps the Vice Presidential debate and the latest on the anti-Trump lawfare. Monica also welcomes actor Dean Cain on the election, Hollywood, and his new film, "God's Not Dead."

This Christmas in July, we are joined by Adam Richard on a sleigh ride that flies right past the Marvel Cinematic Universe and lands on Margot Kidder's rooftop in 1978. Which is, it turns out, not a bad place to be. It's The Return of Doctor Mysterio. Notes and links Steven Moffat's clear inspiration here is Richard Donner's Superman: The Movie (1978), an astonishingly well-made and entertaining superhero movie starring Christopher Reeve as Clark and the wonderful Margot Kidder as Lois. If you haven't seen it, put your phone down at once and go and find a copy. In Episode 271: Eels with Jazz Hands, we mentioned the previous life of director Ed Bazalgette as a member of 1980s one-hit wonder The Vapors. The one hit in question was called Turning Japanese, and it was a massive thing at the time. The CW superhero shows Peter mentions are collectively called the Arrowverse, which started just a few years before this episode aired, and which included shows like Arrow (2012), The Flash (2014), Supergirl (2015) and Legends of Tomorrow (2016), featuring our very own Arthur Darvill. Ang Lee's unloved film Hulk (2003) liberally used comic book panels to transition between scenes (in a way far more sophisticated than what's attempted in this Doctor Who episode). This brief video will give you the idea. It was Adam's job to watch Series 10 of Doctor Who as a regular on the ABC's Doctor Who aftershow Whovians, which covered Series 10 to 12 and screened a day or so after each episode aired. Brendan mentions the Matt Fleischer animated Superman films from the 1940s, particularly the kinds of villains this version of Superman routinely fought. In the second film, The Mechanical Monsters (1941), Superman confronts a group of giant robots who rob banks and museums and inspire artists and filmmakers for generations. Go and watch it at once. Attractive Coal Hill Academy student Ram loses a leg in the first episode of the Doctor Who spin-off Class, which screened over eight weeks leading up to the start of December 2016. And then no one ever mentioned it or even thought about it ever again. Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993) was an insanely popular television show in the 1990s, starring Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane and featuring the incredibly beautiful Dean Cain as Clark. (He's a horrid alt-right nutcase these days, which is a grim warning to all of us, I suppose.) Follow us Nathan is on X as @nathanbottomley, Brendan is @brandybongos, and Adam is @adamrichard. The Flight Through Entirety theme was arranged by Cameron Lam. Adam Richard's daily Doctor Who podcast is called Adam Richard Has a Theory: it's the place to find Adam's hot-to-lukewarm takes and wild-to-really-quite-sensible theories about everything Doctor Who. You can follow Flight Through Entirety on Mastodon and Bluesky, as well as on X and Facebook. Our website is at flightthroughentirety.com. Please consider rating or reviewing us on Apple Podcasts, or we'll sneak into your bedroom and torture your favourite stuffed toy. Wait, no we won't. That would be awful. Sorry. And more You can find links to all of the podcasts we're involved in on our podcasts page. But here's a summary of where we're up to right now. 500 Year Diary is our latest new Doctor Who podcast, going back through the history of the show and examining new themes and ideas. It's first season came out early this year, under the title New Beginnings. Check it out. It will be back for a second season early in 2025. The Second Great and Bountiful Human Empire has broadcast our hot takes on every new episode of Doctor Who since November last year, and it will be back again in 2025 for Season 2. There's also Startling Barbara Bain, our Space: 1999 commentary podcast. We've covered the first five episodes of Series 1; Episode 6 should be out in the next couple of weeks. The Three Handed Game is a podcast on The Avengers and The New Avengers. In the most recent episode, Brendan, Richard and Steven watched an episode from Diana Rigg's first series, Two's a Crowd. Brendan's gaming podcast is called The Bjay BJ Game Show, and in its most recent episode, Brendan and Bjay visited some tilt-shifted Minecraft-inspired holiday destinations in The Touryst. And finally there's our Star Trek commentary podcast, Untitled Star Trek Project, featuring Nathan and friend-of-the-podcast Joe Ford. Last week, we visited the centre of the galaxy and met up with the Devil (who seemed nice) in an inexpensively produced episode of The Animated Series called The Magicks of Megas-Tu.
Riding Shotgun With Charlie #208 Lucretia Hughes Klucken This is a name you want to know. And a person you want to follow. I learned about her with the Women for Gun Rights group. I saw her testify in front of Congress. She lost her son to gang violence but she didn't turn into an anti-gun red shirt. She donned the teal and knew that it wasn't a gun that killed her son. I got to have Lucretia in the stagecoach at an event in New Jersey recently. She is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. Lucretia grew up in Georgia in a small country town. Her father raised her and her eight siblings in a junkyard. Whatever the boys would do, she would do so she was considered a tomboy. She had three fathers: one was a leader of the Black Panthers and the other two were in the military during Vietnam. Her grandparents were the first interracial couple in the area. She grew up shooting and hunting like her brothers. By the time she was 20, she had four kids. She worked hard to make sure that her kids didn't grow up in the situation she did. She lived in the hood and wanted to get out. Of course, she grew up in a Democrat household as she thought black people were supposed to vote that way. But she realized the Democrat party wasn't doing anything to help her. Being involved in gangs and the thug lifestyle, going to funerals of friends, she knew she was the only person that could make changes and get her family out of that lifestyle. She worked hard to get her and her kids out of that way of life. When the NRA Annual Meeting was in Atlanta, she went at the encouragement of a friend. While there alone, she was talking with lots of folks. A photographer saw her and realized she had something. He dared her to go talk to “that short man over there”. It just happened to be Wayne LaPierre. She didn't know this. She told him her story and he gave her his phone number. Six months later he reached out and invited her to Texas to be part of the Board of Directors nominating committee. She is also associated with the Women for Gun Rights group. Being around women like Dianna Muller (RSWC #059 & #164) and Amanda Suffecool (RSWC #009 & #180), she's learned a lot. She's had to learn to refine her story, skills, and be a positive role model. WGR help prepare her to speak in front of Congress and share the story about her son being murdered. One of the things Lucretia does is a daily show, from 5-7 pm et, which has been growing to reach hundreds of thousands of people. Through the show, she met her husband. The show is called Real New with Lucretia Hughes. One of the people watching her show was Star Parker. She's the author of Pimps, Whores, & Welfare Brats. Star went from a tough life into a conservative. Lucretia's story is very similar. They did have a chance to meet and become friends. . She's got some amazing stories, like driving up to DC for an event, with a pistol on the passenger's seat, and going up a one way road the wrong way. Fortunately, she was pulled over by a black police officer who was also from Georgia and he advised her to go home. She talks about getting off the welfare system and working hard to do so. She worked in federal penitentiaries in the medical department. These are the amazing stories I loved to get out for all to hear. Besides the show, she's also working on running for the NRA Board of Directors. She was on the nominating committee that helped Dean Cain and Mark Keith Robinson get voted onto the BOD. Like I said, she's a force. When she spoke at the CNJFO/WGR dinner, she got everyone going. If you search her name, you'll find her from Turning Point USA to Real Clear Politics to FOX News. And now RSWC. Favorite quotes: “I won't bow down. And I won't kiss no ring.” “I learned to stop beating up on myself because no one is perfect.” “I got tired of looking at death.” “They changed a lot of women's minds and their hearts. And a lot of women are now wanting gun rights.” Lucretia Hughes Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lucretia.b.hughes Instagram https://www.instagram.com/reallucretiahughes/ Rumble Real News with Lucretia Hughes https://rumble.com/user/RealNewsWithLucretiaHughes FallBackUSA2 Shop https://fallbackusa2.myshopify.com/ Second Amendment Foundation https://secure.anedot.com/saf/donate?sc=RidingShotgun Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms https://www.ccrkba.org/ Please support the Riding Shotgun With Charlie sponsors and supporters. A jury of 12 New Yorkers convicted him of all 16 counts he faced, on charges including honest services wire fraud, bribery and extortion.
