Y'allllll! Laura and I are so, so excited to be putting this episode out into the world. The minute we cut recording on this interview, we scooted up our entire production timeline by two months so y'all could have THIS episode in your ears. An artist, musician, lyrical storyteller, and true Milwaukee legend, The Fader describes WebsterX's music as "a personal dive into the rapper's psyche". One of the most successful Milwaukee based musicians, WebsterX was awarded Solo Artist of the Year by Radio Milwaukee in 2016, and his album "Daymares" was voted album of the year the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in 2017. Nationally, he's contributed music for a Super Bowl ad, gotten signed to Vic Mensa's prior label, opened for Lil Yachty, and been featured in Entertainment Weekly, NPR, Pitchfork, TimeOut, Paper Magazine, and PBS among dozens of others. Alongside his solo success, WebsterX was a founding member of legendary Milwaukee-based music collective New Age Narcissism, co-founder of FreeSpace, a free, monthly, all-ages music showcase that invites Milwaukee's young creatives to come together and collaborate, and the organizer of Black is Beautiful's 3,000 rider strong bike ride in honor of mental health for people of color. On a personal level, WebsterX was one of Ryan's first friends in Milwaukee, and has been a long time inspiration and collaborator. This is a truly special episode with dozens of invaluable insights on the magic of being alive; including the power that rests in growing from our mistakes, harnessing alter egos, leveraging our platforms as creatives, marketing our magic, and where WebsterX is headed in the future.

This week's material was surprisingly edgy as I expose an element of shadow being cast by the self-care industry. This episode I discuss the ego-feeding problems with publicizing self-care and it's use in avoiding other's needs or any of our fears and discomforts. I talk about how I've been avoiding uncomfortable situations and conversations and how I came to realize how much that was hurting my ability to cope. Finally, we dive into the joys of facing our fears and utilizing staying with our discomfort as a radical act of self-care which inevitably leads to connection and intimacy. Please subscribe, share, and leave a review if you like the episode! I hope this content leads to greater feelings of belonging and connection in all of your lives. When you have BPD like our hosts Rebecca Rush and Lauren McQ, you attract a lot of narcissists. Most people with NPD/narcissism will never get better, so it's on the rest of us to learn to spot them & deal. Let them help you: New Age Narcissism, behavioral aspects, different types, ghosting, narcissism vs NPD, CULTS, 5 signs of narcissistic texting, & the work of Dr. Ramani Durvasula, who has studied narcissism in Los Angeles for over years, which as Lauren would say, is a FECUND FIELD.

Milwaukee’s Siren (Katie Lafond), has solidified her presence in the scene with her memorable appearances and recordings with locals New Age Narcissism, Lex Allen, WebsterX and Kiings (listen to “Exoskeletal Love”, here). Siren’s stage presence and pipes make a statement that is truly her own, even with echoes of Adele, Grimes, Beyoncé and Amy Winehouse. As Siren ventures into releasng a debut solo album, she’s sure to bring that notoriety to a new level.
