Sam is back!  He and Matt reunite just in time for Thanksgiving to give everyone a mix of songs featuring the term Thank You.We kick off with Sly's Thank You and the relief of being yourself again, then trace how Dido's gentle melody got flipped into Eminem's Stan without erasing its original warmth. Andrew Gold's Thank You for Being a Friend sparks a riff on friendship rituals, party etiquette, and why the Golden Girls hook lives rent-free in our heads. DJ Khaled and Big Sean bring gratitude to ambition, reminding us that success without appreciation rings hollow. Boyz II Men drop us into a 90s harmony cocoon, proving that a simple refrain can feel like community. The mix widens with Logic's Thank You, closing on real fan voicemails from around the globe—a living map of music's connective tissue. Alanis Morissette's Thank U honors letting go and landing; Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre rework Sly's groove into a modern head-nod; Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats turn repetition into affirmation. Diana Ross glows with a love that adds to an already good life, pushing back on the myth that gratitude only comes from struggle. And we sign off with Moana's You're Welcome, a playful reminder to accept appreciation with grace.https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/sam-thank-you-mix/pl.u-02P6s4oxbV1. Playliste: Janet Jackson feat. Q-Tip & Joni Mitchell - Got 'til it's gone Janet Jackson - Together again Spice Girls - Spice up your life Backstreet Boys - Everybody (Backstreet's back) Aqua - Didn't I M-People - Just for you Clemens - Psykopat på fri fod Michael Learns To Rock - Something you should know Oasis - Stand by me Shola Ama - You might need somebody Nana - Lonely Dominus - The path Goon - Panic

How to Make Estate Planning Simple?

Vast Voice produced by VastSolutionsGroup.com

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 19, 2025 22:27

A new strategic alliance between R. Kenner French and the Asset Defense Team combines tax, finance, and AI expertise with nationwide asset protection and estate-planning legal services. French frames the session around a simple premise: many owners postpone estate planning, but doing it early enables an orderly transfer of assets and can reduce taxes for heirs. The partnership aims to deliver “one-stop” guidance so business owners can focus on what they do best.Estate planning is defined as setting out how your property (assets and debts) will be managed and distributed after death—ideally in a tax-intelligent way. Key terms include estate, beneficiaries, grantor, trustee/fiduciary, and probate (a public, court-supervised process most families try to avoid). While wills are important, they have limits: they generally don't avoid probate, can't disinherit a spouse, and may be weaker without professional drafting. Kenner suggests that specialized legal oversight—often worth the extra cost—reduces challenges and ensures documents reflect complex, real-world needs.Trusts are the backbone of many estate plans. He distinguishes revocable vs. irrevocable, living vs. testamentary trusts, and covers marital/non-marital structures such as QTIP , general power of appointment trusts , and estate trusts. Insurance-related planning remains significant. Irrevocable Life Insurance Trusts (ILITs) can keep policy proceeds outside the taxable estate (again mindful of the three-year rule). Survivorship (“second-to-die”) policies pay after both spouses pass—often at lower premiums—while “first-to-die” pays on the first death. Beneficiary choices must be made carefully: naming individuals can be simpler but gives less control over how funds are used, whereas trusts allow you to dictate timing and conditions. He also highlights healthcare directives, living wills, guardianship designations, and even funeral wishes as integral parts of a complete plan. Finally, Kenner explains how estate and inheritance taxes differ and why net estate value (gross assets minus debts/expenses) matters. Charitable strategies—like Charitable Remainder Trusts (potentially deferring or mitigating capital gains on highly appreciated assets while providing lifetime income) and Charitable Lead Trusts (front-loading benefits to charities and potentially reducing gift/estate taxes)—can align philanthropy with tax efficiency. The close: don't wait for a “perfect” plan—start now, consult qualified advisors such as Bob Bluhm and the Asset Defense Team.Takeaways• Estate planning is crucial for a smooth transition of assets.• Many people delay estate planning, which can lead to complications.• A will alone may not be sufficient for comprehensive estate planning.• Trusts can provide more control and benefits than wills.• Charitable trusts can help avoid capital gains taxes.• Life insurance can be a valuable part of an estate plan.• Choosing beneficiaries requires careful consideration.• Planning for funeral wishes can be included in estate planning.• Consulting with a qualified advisor is essential for effective estate planning.• Proactive estate planning can provide peace of mind for families.Sound Bites• You cannot avoid probate.• Get something on paper, do it now.• You can plan your own funeral.Listen & Subscribe for More:

This week we are breaking down Ill Communication as part of our miniseries entitled 3 Bad Brothers A Beastie Boys Breakdown. DBRP hosts Nate LeBlanc, David Ma and Demone Carter are joined by one of the very best producers in hip-hop, Kenny Segal, who knows a thing or two about blending disparate elements into a cohesive whole, as the Beasties did on one of their most successful records. In the popular imagination, the Beasties' anthemic rock song Sabotage and its iconic video are probably the highlights from this record, but for us rap nerds, it also contains some of their very best alternative hip-hop songs. We get into some specifics about Sure Shot, Flute Loop and of course Get It Together, the mostly-freestyled jam they recorded with Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. At the end of the episode we rank the album on our 5-point rubric, talking about the best beats, rhymes and magic moments, as well as the album's lasting cultural impact and replay-ability. We'd love to hear from all of you, what do you think of this album? Leave a comment with any thoughts. Please make sure to listen to the very end to hear a snippet of Kenny's one and only Beasties remix, which may in an alternative timeline have been released on Grand Royal and changed the course of his life. 3 Bad Brothers A Beastie Boys Breakdown is a production of Dad Bod Rap Pod Hosted By Demone Carter, David Ma, and Nate LeBlanc Executive Produced by Nate LeBlanc Produced by Demone Carter and Paolo “Cutso” Bello  Edited by Demone Carter and Nate LeBlanc  Engineering and Post-Production by Paolo “Cutso” Bello Artwork by Rory Simms Photography by Stephanie Barajas  Youtube version produced by Paolo “Cutso” Bello Theme song written and recorded by Defcee and Produced by Cutso Dad Bod Rap Pod is distributed by Open Mike Eagle's Stony Island Audio

It's DILLA TIME This month's special is about Jay Dee aka J Dilla, a Detroit hip-hop producer's whose work is so prolific and influential his MPC sampler is in the Smithsonian. Dilla worked with hip-hop and R&B greats - Q-Tip, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, The Roots, The Pharcyde, D'Angelo, Common, Madlib and made his own signature rhythm that others copied - he used a sampler like no one had before. Through his unique methods of playing with layered timing, rhythmic expectation, polyrhythm, samples stretching and feel and his ability to bend time-signatures to his will, Dilla changed how music moves, and made Dilla Time (a term coined in the 2022 book of the same name by Dan Charnas). We explore his production work, solo music and the legacy of his final album from 2006, released three days before he died - Donuts - a sample psychedelic beat tape of melancholic beauty and a magic trick of sampling that serves as a towering and influential creative statement. Brrr... it's time for everyone's favorite season to have its day in court on the Good Music Show. Today we discuss two albums that make us think of winter. We start with Danny's pick which continues his trend of finding a song that deals with a season, and making the case why the album its on also represents that season. When he heard Song for a Winter's Night by Gordon Lightfoot - a legendary folk singer-songwriter from Canada - he thought it was the perfect non-Christmas song. This album is half new recordings of Gordon's catalog and half compilation of his Warner hits. Though a variety of seasons and weather are represented here, the warmness of both Gord's voice and the production by Lenny Waronker are a perfect sonic stand-in for a crackling fire for those cold, lonely winter months (or in Danny's case, days)Then we talk about an album that to Julius represents the sadness and introspection often brought on by winter. "The Velvet Rope" is a peak in a run of excellent albums by Janet Jackson, who unfortunately doesn't get talked about enough in today's pop ecosystem. We compare this album to current trends in pop, as well as praise the impeccable production by Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. Janet's experience at the time of making this album results in many songs dealing with extreme emotions and allows for the listener to experience validation and catharsis through the energetic and crisp production. Now is the time to appreciate what Janet accomplished, despite anything that may have overshadowed her art.Songs featured in this episode:Canadian Railroad Trilogy (from "The Way I Feel" and "Gord's Gold")SundownOld Dan's RecordsGot 'Til It's GoneGot 'TIl It's Gone (Ummah Jay Dee's Revenge Mix)Go DeepMy NeedSend us a text message! You can follow us here: Instagram Twitter Tiktok Send us a message, we'd love to hear from you!
