Roniere Santos was born and raised in the favelas of São Paulo, Brazil. The streets on which he grew up were often alive with music from local rap heroes, funky old school dance legends and heralded MCs such as Proibidão, Primo and Barriga. It is those sounds that inform and infuse the music he now makes and plays as RHR (@rhrmusiq), whether it's electro with a self-proclaimed ghetto twist or techno with hints of grime. After a debut on OMNIDISC in 2019, RHR has self rebased his music which seems only right given that it operates in its own musical universe. The Brazilian invites us deep into that world on this week's mix, which is a 90-minute exploration of broken rhythms and scuffed-up textures. There are shades of everything from club to techno, gqom to jungle as the sounds unfold with a constant sense of movement that keeps you on your toes. Later on, rap and hip hop switch up the vibe and slow the tempo, but your body will keep on popping. This is raw, physical music that shows off a very different side of the Brazilian underground.
Vivian Koch has released dope records on AD 93, Omnidisc and a.r.t.less. She also used to be a resident at Griessmühle in Berlin before it closed. Enjoy!
Since the mid 90's, Vincent Koreman a.k.a. Drvg Cvltvre has been working on his own blend of dystopian acid, no wave and experimental house. Respected in the international underground for his groundbreaking work in experimental techno and electro as RA-X in the 90′s on labels like Bunker and KK Records, Koreman comes from a DIY punk background, opting for hard work and political stance rather than hollow pose. Drvg Cvltvre's music takes the speed down a notch to emphasis on the heaviness of sound and using the space left between the pounding kicks to build melancholic melodies that seem to grow out of thin air. A blend of dark techno and deep house with lots of experiment, influenced in equal parts by Suicide, Sun Ra and Terrence Dixon. His discography is a staggering collection of releases on labels like Warp, Permanent Vacation, Viewlexx, Pinkman, Omnidisc, the legendary Nervous Records and his own imprint New York Haunted, that has been gaining momentum as a bastion of cool, experimental house & techno in an increasingly stale and bland music scene. Drvg Cvltvre is a sought after live act and dj that has been playing everywhere from Shanghai to New York and from Sydney to Helsinki, leaving crowds in awe of his hardware live sets and stellar dj selections. Drvg Cvltvre's tracks are staples in several well known Djs sets. His cuts get played by Nina Kraviz, Speedy J, I-F, John Talabot, DJ Stingray, Juan Atkins, Jackmaster, Marcel Dettmann, Helena Hauff and many others. He's been featured and interviewed by Djmag, Mixmag, Resident Advisor and The Wire. -- 081: Drvg Cvltvre from Tilburg, Netherlands https://soundcloud.com/drvgcvltvre https://www.facebook.com/drvgcvltvreofficial

Roe Deers is a Lithuanian-based audio-visual project led by Liudas Lazauskas. Liudas first started DJ’ing at his parents’ club at the age of 12. He picked a folkloric name and that was the start of the Roe Deers project. His works were released on such labels as Duro, Calypso, Omnidisc, Suara, Beat is Murder, and so on. Liudas said to us that his first album is done and the release date is postponed to next year. There are some upcoming remixes for Radial Gaze, Order 89 and Artfcl, a second EP for Throne Of Blood, and some other things for the future.
Daniel Gomez has proven incredibly hard to pin down since he first emerged. After starting down a path that very quickly took him to the best clubs in the world but off the back of a sound that wasn't really his, he has managed to rewrite perceptions. After deciding to do things his own way, at his own pace, he is now known for what he really loves: techno, electro and IDM. Just recently he continued his collaborative work with Brazilian RHR on four dark, gritty and evocative cuts on OmniDisc, and has more music on the way soon on Schematic Records. This mix hints at what to expect from that EP, says Danny. "Due to the current conditions, I decided to go with chill zone session for this one mixed live with a bunch of the styles that influenced me over the last 20 years. Went a bit more trip-hop/IDM/electro with it which points to the direction the upcoming EP and album later in the year. Hope everyone has a nice week." So strap in for two freewheeling hours of interplanetary sonics, churning rhythms and otherworldly cinematics that will start your week right.
Anthony Rother is a stone cold electronic music legend. He's put out 20 albums since his debut in 1997, and run the Psi49net and Datapunk imprints, which have more or less defined the electro genre. Lately, he's been back with a vengeance, releasing the “3L3C7RO COMMANDO” LP on his own label, as well as EPs for DVS1's Mistress Recordings and of course Danny Daze's Omnidisc. His DJ sets these days are comprised of his own unreleased music specifically tailored for dancefloors. Rother is a dream booking for The Bunker who we still kind of can't believe is coming to play our collaborative party with Omnidisc on November 1 (more details at http://bit.ly/omnibunker ).
Danny Daze is one of our favorite DJs and is the founder of the always-excellent Omnidisc label. He's constantly surprising us with deep cuts combined in unique ways that really get a dance floor going. Danny grew up steeped in Miami's B-boy culture, classic electro & Miami bass and developed a love for the experimental Dutch electro & Detroit Techno scenes of the 90's, labels like Schematic in Miami, Interdimensional Transmissions from Detroit & Viewlexx out of The Hague. We're so excited that he took some time out from his crazy non-stop schedule of gigs to create this podcast to give us a taste of what to expect when he plays The Bunker Pride this coming Friday, June 29th at Elsewhere in Brooklyn. Complete info and tickets for the event are here: http://thebunkerny.com/events/2018-06-29-the-bunker-pride
One half of Roe Deers - Liudas is joining us for the second show of this season. Also locally known as St.Stereo - Liudas is known in Lithuania for hosting his radio show on the most recognised station in the country - Zip FM. The show itself was previously named Prelude (Preliudai) now has officialy changed name to Roe Deers Radio. The station also previously hosted a show by Manfredas for many years. That is not necessarily why you would recognise this duo. Having released their music on Nein and most recently on Omnidisc, they proved that they have something interesting to say. And people are reacting. One of our previous guests - Trevor Jackson included their track "Kukushka" in the top 35 tracks of 2016. An impressive achievement to say the least. Their most recent production is coming on Bird of Paradise new label - Sulk Magic very soon.
Danny Daze has lived the lives of a dozen different DJs—from a 14-year=old playing electro at giant Miami raves to time spent doing actual time, rising among the ranks of mash-up masters under the tutelage of DJ AM, breaking into the deep house (or as he calls it, "social techno") scene with Jamie Jones, and finally discovering his own direction in the obtuse techno of his OMNIDISC imprint. "My first gig ever in Europe was London, at Fabric," he tells of his almost unbelievable career path. The one thing that remains constant in the Cuban-American producer's ever-evolving is a focus on songs, regardless of the genre. That, and an ear for dark and sleazy sounds rooted in the heaving 808 bump of his native Miami. It's a southern bounces he always manages to bring to releases on imprints such as Ultramajik, Ellium and Kompakt. A bass so deeply embedded that you can practically hear it in his voice as he speaks for an hour on this week's Rave Curious Podcast.
